  1. Ok..the problem has continued to occur. I contacted the company my comp is from and they had me run some stress tests on my cpu and vid card. My cpu passed with flying colors as it ran for over an hour maxed out. My vid card crashed and shut down my comp only after 30 seconds. They will be sending a new vid card in the mail. I will keep you posted and let you know how sl performs when I install the new card! Thanks for all the advice and sorry for doubting any one who suggested it was the vid card. :-)
  2. Ok. After contacting the company I bought my comp from they had me run some test for my cpu and vid card. My cpu passed with flying colors ran for over an hour at 100% with no probs. My vid card however when maxed out crashed exactly like it does on SL after 30 seconds. Have a bad vid card. I have to remove it and send it back and they will send me a new one. I will update you when I have the new one installed.
  3. All my drivers are up to date. Kelly thanks for that post. At least I am not crazy and the only one with this problem. Please let me know if the new Power supply works! I will do those tests you suggested. It doesn't make any sense to me that it would be a power supply because if it were it should shut down randomly all the time not just with SL, but let me know it did work. :-)
  4. AZZA 1000 W 80gold. Remember it is only Second life that does this not any other site. I would think that would exclude it being the powersupply. I play Skyrim, WOW, Guild Wars 2 and others that are most like more graphically intensive than SL and it doesn't happen there.
  5. Ok I recently moved and acquired a new computer. I have been a part of Second Life now for almost 7 years and until now It has been a great experience. Second Life continues to shut down my computer and makes it reboot. I have never experieced this before in the 7 years I have been apart. Here are my new comp stats: CPU"4820K, 16 gigs of quad channel memory, Single Terybyte WD Black hard drive, Nvidia GTX 780 Graphics card with 3 gigs of memory 79X motherboard, wirelss mouse. I have already ruled out overheating (none of the components are overheated), I have uninstalled my graphics driver and reinstalled it. I have windows 7 and all is updated. I have uninstalled sound devices, mouse and keyboard settings and reinstalled. I have done everything I can think of and SL still shuts down my computer. It is the only game or site that does this so I know it has something to do with SL. My computer is highly capable of playing SL without batting an eye. I have adjusted graphic settings on my card. Here is the kicker. I can log onto Second life and do nothing but look at my avatar and nothing happens. Its only when I begin intereacting in game when my comp shuts down and sometimes I can go for maybe 30 minutes or so and sometimes only a few seconds. I use firestorm, however I tried the SL default viewer too and the same thing happens. Does anyone have any suggestions. I have been in SL so long I hate thinking about leaving simply because it shuts down my comp. Please help! Oh..and I never have gotten a blue screen. This has been happening now for about 4 weeks.
  6. Thanks Maddie!! That makes perfect sense.
  7. The 120 are in areas with little or no other avs. Busy areas are around 30 or so. As I said I am just curious. I know Second life is notorious for lag and I was just wondering how frame rates were. Nothing more or less. I am really fairly new to the frame rate thing. Thanks Mistahmoose. I haven't even checked my settings. I will do that.
  8. I am just curious what everyone is getting for a frame rate in SL. I know it varies from place to place and how busy it is but what are your ranges? The lowest I have gotten so far is about 30 and the highest is 120.

  10. It appears the problem has resolved itself. At least for now. :-)
  11. It is still happening. Here is my event log if that helps. It doesn't list it on here but the event also says its a type 63. - System - Provider [ Name] Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power [ Guid] {331C3B3A-2005-44C2-AC5E-77220C37D6B4} EventID 41 Version 2 Level 1 Task 63 Opcode 0 Keywords 0x8000000000000002 - TimeCreated [ SystemTime] 2014-04-29T00:44:37.310054100Z EventRecordID 10790 Correlation - Execution [ ProcessID] 4 [ ThreadID] 8 Channel System Computer - Security [ UserID] S-1-5-18 - EventData BugcheckCode 0 BugcheckParameter1 0x0 BugcheckParameter2 0x0 BugcheckParameter3 0x0 BugcheckParameter4 0x0 SleepInProgress false PowerButtonTimestamp 0
  12. Well that driver installation isn't the problem as it shut down again. The event viewer says its a kernel power 41 incident with a task category 63. After looking this up there is no definitive answer to the problem it would seem. I suppose my SL days may be numbered.
  13. I had to buy a new monitor for my new comp. Its a 27 inch and I just checked and there was a driver update for it. I installed that and I hope that is the problem. I did try adjusting the resolution down from the max to see if that helps. Oh and what happens is the whole computer shuts down and restarts again. I will check the event log too. Thanks again Karen. I will post an update later. :-)
  14. I downloaded the pasmark burn in test. It says there are no errors. I am at a loss. My graphics card drive is up to date. I will try scaling back the graphics card driver to see if that works. I have never had this issue before with any of my other comps. I have been on SL now for almost 7 years. I will hate to not be able to enjoy SL as I have made many friends there. And thanks for the suggestions. And I know its not overheating as I ran a test for that too.
  15. Has anyone had a problem logging onto second life? I recently bought a new computer. It was fine at first and now I shuts my computer down seconds after i log on. Whats going on? My comp is not overheating, I have uninstalled and reinstalled various viewers and still the same thing. Here are my stats from my comp. Anyone have any suggestions? I really want to get back on SL. x79 mother board, gtx 780 vid card, 4820K cpu, 16 gigs of quad channel memory and a 1000 watt AZZA titan 80 plus gold power supply.
