  1. I have seen the same thing a couple of times, although most of the time it works. There is a step that I was missing, but I can't tell you what that was. Hopefully, someone else will recognize this behavior so I can document it.
  2. I am just getting started creating animations with Blender/Avastar and I have run into a few "gotchas". This is a little involved so bear with me. Previously, I have been able to export BVH files from SL to my hard drive, play with them in BVHacker, then upload them again to SL. Now that I have Blender/Avastar, I have been exporting them from Blender in the anim file format and uploading them to SL. The problem I am running into is that something is either added to or taken out of anim format animation when they are uploaded to SL and when I try to export them again as a BVH file, my viewer crashes, every time. That is my first question, how to get around this problem. The other question I have right now is probably a little easier. Is there any reliable way to import anim format files into Blender? I saw a few mentions of anim file format in this thread but no definitive solution for my dilemma.
  3. I was thinking it would be nice to have postions and rotations stored for each animation, but I am worried about making the script "over complicated". I guess that would involve having a unique sit target for each animation, right? If I can figure out some simple way of storing and retrieving the position and rotation information for each script, I might try it.
  4. I recently created a group named "Toys in the Atticus" which happens to be the same name as my Marketplace store. I created a "pet name" tag that my girlfirend enjoyed and likes me to wear. This was about a week ago. I logged in 2 days ago and noticed my tag was missing so I went to check on my group and found that it was missing as well. I tried to recreate the group but SL tell me that a group with that name already exists. I tried to search for the group, but nothing with that name appears in search. How do I get my group back?

  6. Hi Dave, I am getting a MFC100.dll missing error. Thanks Atti
  7. I am still not convinced that the issues I have been having are a direct result of this bug. I am not saying that the bug doesn't exist, but I think its too early to jump on your bandwagon and declare that this bug is the cause of all of it. I am going to continue to investigate and do some tests related to "animation orientation" with respect to rotation. I also want to get a better handle on "reference frames" and how they can effect animation transitions.
  8. Okay, is there a tool, similar to BVHacker that I can use "in world" to verify that these extra frames actually exist? Furthermore, is there a tool I can use, "in world", to edit an animation, frame by frame. I guess I would like to see the evidence of what your suggesting and, if possible, correct it.
  9. I have a question about the default position/orientation of animations and if it might be possible to manipulate that to reduce the "tossing around" that avatars get during the transition from one animation to the next. Although I am not 100% sure, I don't believe that this is an "ease in/ease out" question, but something a little different. Let me explain. When you import an animation into SL, it has a sort of "default" position (or orientation), for example, if you use it in MLPV2 with no "position" information, the avatar using that pose ball will be facing a specific direction. Now lets say you import another animation that you got from some other 3rd party, and its default position/orientation may be entirely different. Now in MLPV2 you can adjust those animations so they are all facing the same direction, BUT when you try to transition from one pose to the next, the default position comes back into play and the avatars "spin" during that transition. Is there a way to change the default "orientation" of an animation either after it is uploaded, during the upload process, or before the upload begins using some animation program. I don't want to get into reediting the entire animation, just reorienting its default "orientation" Thanks, Atticus
  10. My girl and I are avid SL player and because we live in different parts of the country, this is how we share our lives together. But recently, since the introduction of pathfinder (coincidence?) SL performance has gone to "hell in a hand basket." Since this is only way that we can be together, we started to worry, "What happens if SL goes **bleep** up?!!" So we started looking around for alternatives, "just in case". So we both made accounts on InWorldz and started to try to replicate ourselves there. The first thing I noticed was that IW does indeed seem a lot like SL 5 years ago, so yes, there are a few things missing from the experience, but that is NOT necessarily bad. First off, I am not overly impressed with MESH, so I was pleased to find that IW had none. YAY! Another pleasant surprise was that they (at the current time) do not charge to upload. That bears repeating... No charge for upload! Since the first thing I wanted to do was to copy a lot of my own personal creations and textures from SL to IW, this was invaluable! On the downside, I have had a lot of failed teleports and there is some sort of glitch with the ALT+RightMouseButton when I try to cam someplace... It doesn't work on the first click so I have to click twice. Irritating, but not a showstopper. Additionally, there are not a lot of my old favorite clothing stores, but surprisingly, there WERE a few of my favorites... Redgrave, Inedit, to name a few. Anyway, it seems like a great time to get in BEFORE they wise up and start charging for uploads and the price of land goes up. And we will still be playing in SL for the foreseeable future, but now we have a plan B. I was thinking about "life" the other day and I decided that you are born and you get to live until you "eff up" badly enough and remove yourself from the gene pool. I think that probably applies to "business" as well and lets face it, LL has already dodged a few bullets, but really, sooner or later, they are gonna "eff up" badly enough and will have to call it quits. Just my 2 cents. Atticus
