  1. I dont think giving away psd with the texture for you to modify them is a posibility at all.

This is due to several things.

One is that at least with mesh, most people use templates and their part of the work is making these textures for that specific template.

Most times these templates has TOS regarding of the use of the them and this often include the use of the texture base offered in them.

Some other time this is not the case but, since its the retail merchant part of the work to make these textures, then why would they give it away full perm as a psd for every costumer thay buy a copy of this item that was not full perm to beggin with?, I dont think they will or should.

Another issue is that some times with non mesh, they use textures made by others and so they are not permited to distribute them at all.

Also, some huds and scripts for texture change and such force the merchant to put the item non mod beeing that the script itself is non mod.

For all this, most mesh clothing items out there are not mod. I agree that in the case of the alphas they should be mod and he alpha texture should be aviable for the costumer to modify it but, is not like every costumer knows how to do this anyway.

The only way i see that you would get to put your own texture is if you buy the original full perm template and do as you like with it. Like retail merchants do

  2. Not to say, that its a model the OP designed and wanted in particular. Not just any model. Is not like the person had it premade. She want it custom to her. Seriously if you want a specific model be made for you, then you need to realize its going to take time and time needs to be paid.

And it doesnt matter if its just pixels. Can be pixels can be whatever. Can be done by a hobby st or by a pro.

On the back is a person work time.

You say 100U$S is half your paycheck or half your rent?, then you should understand that pay 4U$S for a day work is really not good.

So, dont get offended when people tell you their rates. They can be good or bad according to you, but think twice, how much would you pay yourself for the same ammount of time.

By the way, 100U$S on that dress is a bit less that I would rate it, because the shape of the skirt with the huge slit on it, makes me want to cry when i think of rig and alpha it.

So if you found a person that will be making it for 4$ please post his name. I would love to see what he does for that amount.

  3. I think that if you buy a full perm item that includes a .dae file and a clear TOS like the one it was posted here by the OP, then its unethical to resale derivates in full perm mode. Usually .dae files are given away so merchants that buy templates can so several things with them, like bake textures, upload the mesh in their names, add details and modifications if the skills are enough. But obviously they arent meant to be resold full perm, I think otherwise it will state it in the TOS. Something around the lines of: Do whatever wih these files. By the OP saying that it spend a week working on the derivate of the mesh I have two conclusions. One, if you have a week to spend working on a mesh, then start a new one. Two, if it took you a week to change a mesh, then perhaps you are not skilled enough to sell templates and therefore you shoudnt use other people work as a starter for your own projects. And I really think that if you need to ask that its ok to make it, its probably because it isnt most of the times

Ill tell you exactly why L.L. wont force their removal. Because the whole point of limited stock merchandise is to jack up prices along with lots of quick sales in a short period of time, (something that L.L. greatly desires thinking they will make more money themselves in the process, and even in the long run). So as a  reward for merchants who do that, L.L. is effectively giving these merchants greater exposure through more merchandise listings, and thereby creating an incentive for continuing the annoying, yet in reality money losing practice. **Only uploaded images may be used in postings**://secondlife.i.lithium.com/html/assets/emoticons/mattemotes/confused.png" border="0" alt=":matte-motes-confused:" title="" />

Why you think the point of limited items is to jack up prices?

In my opinion, as a limited item seller, this is not the case. Also, I do not do a lot of quick sales, in fact i do LIMITED Sells of each product. A limited item can be sold quick, or not, depends on the item, the time of the year and i dont know what else. But they do not all sell quick.

About jacking up prices, I think over cheap products do this work, rather than quality more expensive ones.

I can speak about mesh items, because is what I do.

The mesh items you can find on the top selling page, are all priced at around 250 lindens, full perm.

If you take a moment to think how many dollars 250 lindens is, You will find its about 1 or so.

A mesh item can take several days of work, i had some i worked on for weeks.  I work full time on them, meaning i do 8 hours work per day.  If an item, takes me say 40 hours of work to be made, how can i sell it for 1 dollar a copy giving them away full perm?

There is no work that pay that ammount. I agree that some people do it just for the love of it, but I do it to pay my son´s education, and I cant do it with 1 dollar.

Its a costumer choise, to see if they want to buy limited or not.  Limited items, usually have more options to them, usually include files for meshes and texturing, and also they are granted to be exactly that, limited. The store that chooses limited over full perm, knows that not everyother store will have the same template, and allows them to work harder on the texturing and marketing, since the competition on this item, will be all about that, and not prices.

Also, I dont see how LL is rewarding limited item sellers at all.

  5. I wasnt by all means rude at you, I just stated what seemed obvious for me. It still seem obvious so i wont take it back; if circumstances were different i might have done it. But i still believe the same. I would have continue beeing polite at you, if you would not send me an im inworld saying how wrong i was in my comment and then rush your answer here, beeing sarcastic and saying how we all people in here had no life and only saw the bad on people. I can garantee you, that is not the case. But like peri said some had been around long enough to know better and honestly, i dont apreciate beeing taked as stupid. You may find interesting or nice to play clueless, i dont. I bet there are two sides of this, some will think youre right, some will see it the other way. For me the most important here is that you should respect both positions. And i dont see you doing this.

  6. "I wasnt there and no one saw me there. Thats that folks".

And as you have the right to say whatever comes out of your self proclaimed clueless brain, tell all of us that we have no lifes and only see the bad in people, we have full right to think whatever we like and say it. And incredible enough, there seem to be a lot of us that think alike about your posts. Does it mean we have the true? No. But we can still think it is.

  7. I did not though about the keywords. Ill do that with my sold out. Its not to proof that i uploaded it first, to lindens, but to create some sort of costumer awareness. It has been told that people dont read much, and that they hardly look what store they are buying from. I do this so my costumers and specially new ones, can recognize my store as the original source of the products. I will remove the keywords of sold out if that helps. I already change the name of the sold out products and also remove their demos. And again I agree there is so much i would like to be seen improved in mp. For instance, when a merchant says this product is limited to "x" amount of copies, lindens will tell costumers there is limited copies of this, but wont tell them how many are aviable, or how many has been sold. This gives room to change the ammounts aviable at will, and it dont help costumers at all. I think if you commit to sell a determinate amount of items, you should stick to that amount, and I think it will be a nice tool to let costumers know this.

  8. Please if you need to reply on anything I post here, do it in here. Dont send me im. I wont reply to them.

And again this place is not to paste a link to your store, you know this, or at least you should know it.

I was wrong, someone did ask you about the dress, but i dont think it was so you could post a link to your store. But i was right and you did paste a pic of your dress without anyone asking anything.

I would like to assume im free to think whatever I like, and I think youre trying to advertise your shop in the most weird way ive seen in time, not just once, but twice. And youre free to think whatever you like about me, and my thoughs.

But hey, every publicity is publicity, right??...right?...well, I would like to think not. But thats just me.

  9. I sell limited items, and i do keep them listed, tho i change the names once they are sold out. There is a reason to do this, and its so that people can recognize those products are from my store. This is not out of an ego issue, but a practical one. I had my store items sold on fraud stores more than once. At one moment, all the items of my store were sold at a fraud store. The only way I have to people to know hose items were mine, is to keep them listed.b

But, even tho I dont think its a good idea to poof the items, I agree there should be an option for them to appear as history items, so people could see them but they would not appear as for sale.

  10. Yet another weird post. About 90% of those kind of mesh dresses use an alpha below so there is no underskirt to be looked at, just transparent space.

I readed the post, and no one asked he Op to post a pic of the dress she was was wearing, and no one asked were did she got her dress to beging with. So there was no need to post the link to her store in here.

Im sorry, but to me the whole thing sound like the previous post by the same person, and it begings to sound old.

Plus, not that someone asked me, but if i get kicked out of a sim like that, i would never come back there, and even less the same day, so i can get harrased by my rl pic, and the i can come here and tell everyone so they can take a look at it aswell.

So im with the idea at the the moment, that this post was made with second intentions.

Do this taking all of us for dumbs one time, and you may get away with it, or sound clever almost. Do it twice, and most probable is, that it will work against you.

  11. Regular social skills need to be learned. Its never the same to text someone tan to speak to someone looking at their eyes. Sounds old, I bet, but its true. Also for some kids I dont if all its very difficult to find interest in the real life after they spend their time playing in vw or whatever game online. And finally some kids mix reality with fantasy, even some adults do it. Saying this i mean if they get hurted in the game/vw they feel sad in rl. Ive seen this with minecraf. Again im not saying this goes for every kid, but at least mine, he seems happier when he is off games and internet. This comming from a mom that got rased in a higly tecnological home. I had a computer when no one around had it. My father sent me to learn how to program at age 8. I got to chat and play computer games when most of my friends didnt had a clue what was that. But to my sadness my parents always controled that i didnt spend much time in front of the pc. I understand now why. Next generation is a native generation, they will use all the tools no doubt and im not saying they need not to use them. Just saying that somethings are better to be left for when they grow up and can understand the full use an consecuences of what they do.

  12. I might be old fashioned but, to me a teen should be out there socializing and seeing things, and not playing in a VW. I have a 7 yo to whom i allowed to play minecraft for about 3 months. The moment he started playing it he got absent. He woudnt even listen to what happend around. It was too inmersive for him, and him beeing a kid coudnt manage it. So i took that away from him, magically i got my kid back. So, again I do feel kids or teens, should be doing something else outside and not in sl or other vw.

  13. "Jejeje", "Jajajaja" and "Jijiji" its all laughs in spanish. Its a matter of taste really to choose wich one you like the best. For some personal taste, to me Jejeje sounds like a cheeky laugh and Jijiji more like a giggle, and then jajaja more like a regular laugh.

  14. Yep agree.Im native spanish speaker, and Its spanish for "hahaha". "Jajaja" micmics the sound of laugh, since in spanish the "h" its mute, meaning you dont pronounce it, the closest sound of a laugh its "ja" . So if you read it, its not a rude thing but a laugh :)

  15. Yes, I totally agree. And this go beyond marketing alone. When you go to a store, younger generations prefer not to be follow by a sales person, unlike older people. Its an interesting thing to see what the process of buying is and how it differs from age to age, culture to culture. Here in sl i guess its more about people seeing what they like and search for it like one of last posts said, im inclined to think that best marketing here is wear your stuff and keep profile updated. Maybe a facebook, blog etc.

  16. I Think you are right, there is a lot of cultural issues involved in wether or not one may find anoying or bad this kind of advertising. However, it has been studied that this kind of marketing is not proved to be successfull. Latests trends of marketing show that consumers react better when they dont feel they are beeing sold something.

Specially with stuff like sl products; these kind of products arent a first need thing. You dont need any of the stuff sold here you can be in sl for years without buying anything. So if you do buy you do it out of desire. Somehow, I dont relate desire with someone telling me out of the blue were i can buy what they are wearing. This might have to do with my culture and my studies.

Also, I did said this tread was some sort of advertising for the OP, because it is, not direct but it is because at least one people checked the OP store by now, but I did not said this was intentional, i dont think she did this thread to get some sort of advertising. This shows that there are marketing ways that dont involve spam at all and might prove to be more usefull.

  17. I readed somewere in this post that sl market is not democratic, let me tell you this, it doesnt get more democratic than this, becuse unlike rl here all you need to have a successfull store is to work hard and learn your tecniques. Apart from that, as in rl, great outfits need no advertising. If what you made is good and interesting people will im you to ask about it, there is zero need to spam people asking about it. In fact with some you might be getting the opposite effect. Maybe they were liking it and then you came in their ims asking, like when you get a promotion add call at your house phone, they say hi how are you?? Talk a bit and then bam try to sell whatever stuff they sell. Its annoying and useless marketing. And this post is also marketing isnt it? By now some of the people replying or reading it will have check on your profile too, see if you have a store at mp, etc. My only advice is, dont go around doing this needy marketing, it goes against what you want that i guess is to improve sales. Just use your stuff, have your profile updated and friendly and this will do a lot.

  18. My country dont have a tax deal with the US. Thats why, to avoid paying double taxes What i rather do is I pay US taxes and in my country I had to open a small bussines company for services. For this i pay a small fee a month. This is surelly different in every country. My advice is you go to your irs office and find out your best option. It might me the same as mine or might be different. The fact that you earn it in sl it doesnt matter, you could be selling your work elsewere on the net. What it does matter is you are making internet content and are getting pay by it, and getting your money from paypal. This is appart from the virtual currency issue really. Its just about the real money you are getting from paypal to your bank account or credit card or whatever you use to get it.

  19. Im from South America, from a tiny country, and they havent heard much in my country about sl either.

But here is the thing, I can tell you for sure, my country IRS will know eventually that I got money from my paypal, and Im pretty sure they will in your country as well.

In my case for instance, the tax US IRS charge me is lower than the tax I would have to pay for the same work  income in my country. Despite the way you can see or not see the work you do here in sl, and despite this is virtual goods, you are working, and you are selling, what in my country at least its call a service. I work as a self employer making internet services. and thats what every merchant in sl is doing.

You arent selling real goods, but virtual goods are seen as an intangible, like softwares and correct me if im wrong, life ensurances. And youre getting real income out of it, that goes to your paypal account and finally to your hands. So you are getting a real income.

You can go and not pay taxes in your country you might get away with i, or you might encounter a huge bill a couple of years from now.

In my country, if I just grab the money from paypal and just start paying my bills, or using it on my credit cards to buy stuff, they eventually will know, that im getting extra money. At least here is like that, they can check your bank account status, they can see what stuff you pay and if youre not working in rl, or have another income beside this, they will eventually know, so I rather be assure and pay the taxes to IRS, that in my case is less money than if I pay them here, so to my country IRS, i figure out as a self employer that sells services to USA and within USA law and servers, pretty much like if im working there actually)

  20. Demos take time to be made and boxed and listed. Almost the same time it takes to make the full product list, and probably a bit more since at least myself take the work to double check perms and such with them.

I, and all merchants I know, make them for a reason. There are there so the costumer knows the product its real, and can check if it suits their needs.

I even take the time to send a demo of my new releases at my store group. Regular costumers know my work and know what to expect and just buy at sight of the add. Even tho the products i sale are limited and costly.

A store in word makes no sales for me. I have an inworld space, i used to had a shop, but never sold a thing there. To me a store proofs nothing, it can be a huge scam with a pretty store.

    However demos dont lie.

So if the merchan takes the time to make them, the costumer should take the time to check them. And with no intention of beeing rude, when dealing with mesh, regardles of if the merchant is new or old, has an inworld shop or not, the brand is known or not, the product should have a demo, and the costumer should ALWAYS check if the product brand is the same as the store brand before buying.

  21. I dont think inworld store will fix the main issue here. In my case I had all my adds and display used in a store thatells empty boxes. I flaged the items an reflag them when they were back up. Filed a ticket and report abuse. Took LL 4 days otal to take the items down, only to have them back up again. I find to file a DMCA really slow proces. For me I live very far away from USA an so mail take up to 20 days to reach destination and I dont have a fax machinr. The answer i got with the ticket is like its out from an old comedy movie. They either think one is retarded or they dont read it at all. I feel the process should to denounce this kind of residents. At one point i even think these stores are up.with the only hope.that original creators buy the items.to review them, since you can see they are selling empty boxes.
