  1. I Love RP sim...most of the fantasy designers that would have what you are looking for participate in that fair and it's currently open. It's a good place to start where you won't have to do a lot of TPing around while you see some of the best fantasy designers in SL.
  2. I believe that Singularity has an option to use the V3 look, but I'd have to look to be sure. If it does, that's what you did. Logged in on the V3 interface
  3. In your search, you can look for land for sale. I believe that lists all land for sale. You can specify mainland or private islands and the size you want. I've found a lot of land I've had over the years that way. As for auctions, I've actually found them cheaper. They start a 0.5L/sq meter.
  4. Those were removed a couple of days ago. That's a direct copy/paste from the email.
  5. Something totally custom will probably cost you minimum of 30K if not more for the head and then another outlay for a skin maker to make the skin appliers for you if you don't make the skin yourself. Skin would depend on if the head still uses the SL map or a custom map. Standard, you'd need to talk to your maker and be sure it's at least Omega compatible. Remember, it's not just the head but the scripting for applying skin, makeup, etc. You'll have an easier time if it's Omega applier compatible for you skin but a custom mesh head isn't going to be cheap. The 30K is probably low end of what it would cost you.
  6. Who would I talk to about being able to use this as media on a prim in my shop? It's so appropriate since the shop is called Quoth the Ravenn. I don't want to step on anyone's toes if I use it. Thanks
  7. 50 would be nice, however...as of the writing of this, there are 51K+ residents on line. If each resident belongs to 42 group, that's hundreds of thousands of entries to manage. Notices are easy..they just go out to all members of the groups. Chat, however, requires the servers to locate who is online, first. Then it has to locate where they are and then send the message. If a group is big, like WoW with 35K with several hundred on line at any one time, even if they don't have the chat window open, or Builders Brewery with 25K + and multiply that for each group a person has, that's a lot of tracking to do along with everything else the sim servers have to do, like keeping track of where you are, running scripts, having to upload and then distribute sound clips from a gesture to everyone on the sim, even if they aren't in hearing range, etc,, even the best servers can get bogged down in the load. adding groups would add even more to the load. If you look at a group...look at abilities for members. You will see that the vast majority of the group functions deal with land management, not social chat. They were never designed to handle being chat rooms. You talk to old time LL people and they will tell you that they never expected SL to become what it has. I've been in SL long enough to remember when 35K people inworld crashed the entire grid. Now 35K is the low end, overnight numbers and we only had 10 groups. Didn't have all the business then that use the groups for distribution of store info. So, as nice as 50 groups would be, I don't know if we'll ever see it. It would be nice since almost half my groups are related to the RP sim I'm an admin in. I had to make a business alt to handle the extra groups I need to be in as a business owner for various hunts and business-related groups, which might be an alternative for you...an alt for the FYI groups that you don't need at your fingertips every day.
  8. I've been following this for months. I'd really like to see the ISP's moved into what is called common carrier, the same thing the phone and cable is. You only have one provider you can choose most places for cable internet. This makes them a monopoly. Because of the type of business, the monopoly has to be allowed but...and here's the kicker, strictly regulated. Right now ISP's aren't in that category and do as they please. For instance, my ISP has a 300 gig cap on internet usage included in what you pay. After that you have to pay for what you go over. So...neutrality and common carrier status ASAP.
  9. 6 skins with 3 beard options, 3 eye options, 3 eyebrow option, 3 avi size options...that's about right. 18 with just the different skins an beards then each eye with each of those then each eyebrow with each of those then each size with each of those...actually, I think she's low. 6 skins x 3 beards is 18 that x3 for each eye is 54 then each of those with each eyebrow is 162 then each of those with each of 3 shapes is 486 variations if my math is right. Some may be very slight but they are still variations.
  10. Every so often, especially after rolling restarts, avis get access denied to regions. We have it happen on a semi-regular basis for players trying to get into the main sim for the RP Estate where I admin. It's a glitch with SL and unfortunately, the only way to clear it is to restart the region.
  11. what kind of look are you wanting for your avi? Boy next door, muscled, fit? It makes a difference for recommedations. Boy next door-Redgrave, WoW, 7 Deadly skins. Fit-Coca and Wolf, Tellaq, Muscular'Prodigal, Coca and Wolf. Just depends on the look you want. Demos, demos, demos...get the demos and find the one that gives you the look you want with your avi. Most of the above are on the marketplace so you don't have to go to the inworld stores if you don't want to. Hair, Again...what style, how long do you want it....it all matters.
  12. Having to belong to a group that you pay to join to use the MM board wouldn't violate the Skilled Gaming policy. You pay to join the group for the group perks, such as free gifts (Like in the cases of WoW and 7 Deadly Skins you get a free skin every month as a member.) The MM board is a perk of being a group member, just like the monthly gifts and discounts you can get as a group member.
  13. just an FYI, if you have a premium account, the Linden home is one of the perks. Do be aware that is does utilize the 512 land you can have without tier so if you want to buy Mainland, you'll have to abandon that home or take the tier increase.
  14. What they said...next question is...are they regular shoes or did you buy some that are for Slink feet? If they are for Slink, you have to have the feet for them to fit properly.
  15. If you set up and purchase a private sim then pay the tier to LL, you own that. Before you shell out 1K USD for a new setup, however, I'd look at the land listings here on the forum. Chances are you can find one for sale for 300USD and they pay the transfer fees. Much cheaper to do it that way. If you are paying the tier/rent directly to LL, you own it. If you are paying it to an individual, then they own it and are paying LL the tiere/rent. They can give you most of the owner rights and if you are renting a full sim, they will often give you full rights, but that's up to the owner.
