  1. If you rez the magika hud and inspect it and check it out with transparency enabled, you'll see that this is the method they use, the hud is only 88 prim in total, even with 400+ hair colors and extras, most of those prims are making up the buttons. This would be my preferred method if i could script
  2. try making your own LOD's and simple physics model. At a guess this may help but it is only a guess as you haven't shown your model or the tri-count
  3. on beta grid i upload and test on ground level. on main grid i upload and wear on my build floor which is at 2100m up. I haven't noticed much of a difference at all from one to the other.
  4. All Cathy is doing in that video is adding the normal and spec maps to the mesh itself and not to the BoM (system) layers themselves, which is what we can still do today, often through the use of appliers or body HUDs rather than directly editing the mesh itself, but it still only allows one set of materials per mesh face.
  5. yes they do. They have discord, and have had it for sometime, and approved creators can join & request a tag and that tag grants them access to download dev kits,
  6. make yourself a tattoo from the SL UV maps, then wear that tattoo inworld and you will be able to see how the lines stretch and flow on each body
  7. some bodies provide a mod version so you can make these edits yourself, and some bodies have options in the hud to glow, to change alpha modes, variable transparency and more. Not all, but some are now including one or more of these options. It all comes down to the maker of the body and what they decide to do.
  8. no you cant have folders in an object. You can drag a folder into it but only the folder contents will be moved/copied
  9. Best thing to do to get an answer is ask LL, either by ticket, or Live chat if premium
  10. There was a Jira filed on this a few years ago, raised it again at the Web UG in April, hopefully now we might see somethign done https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-226218
  11. in region details you are changing eep for the region itself not the parcel.. Parcels and regions can have different EEP settings, and what you see will depend on your own viewer settings as to whether you are set to see region, parcel, or personal. To change EEP for the parcel you can either right click it in inventory or you have to edit land info (parcel details) and drag it into the elevation level for environment. Both ways work, personally I always drag into the land info when in changing parcel EEP as i have different settings for different heights which are different from the main region EEP settings.
  12. read here and check that; A: You have set up the manager role correctly B; that your manager is looking in the right place to get to the store they can manage
  13. Looking forward to seeing Round 4 👍
  14. Hey Lucia, any chance you got some more recent data to toss our way and wet our whistle? Me likes the pwitty numbers 🥰
  15. That line 'tween torso and legs is a long standing issue. I remember seeing a Jira for this from Siddean Munro (Slink) dated back in 2008, and again around the time of BoM release. As you can see its never been resolved, and it only seems to affect the clothing layers. I cannot remember if it affects the jacket layer, but as jacket comes down to about the hips then it should cover that line. There is a similar issue at the ankles for pants and socks when making full leg tights/hose. The tattoo Layers are not affected by these glitches.
  16. Not all lighting effects that you see in Blender will bake to a texture. Really you need to provide some screenshots of your node set up and of the render image that you are expecting to have baked.
  17. You may be editing your listings in one language but looking at the item in another. Example: Each listing has 6 different languages for description and keywords. like so https://prnt.sc/20qdum4 The marketplace can also be viewed in any one of those 6 languages https://prnt.sc/20qe194 If you are editing only one language, e.g. English, and the description is filled in for the other 5 by copying a listing when you create the new item, then those 5 languages will not have the same information as the edited English version. The fix for this is A: check and delete all text in the language fields that you are not using. or B: Check all language fields and add the description for each language in that language (spanish in spanish, french in french etc)
  18. Price is one of the fields you can edit in bulk, so if you want to put the same price tag on everything or in batches then bulk edit is an option. If you want items to have unique prices. then ...
  19. the way i do it, is to copy the new item into the listings folder so that it creates the "new version" folder. then i right click that version and select activate. that then becomes the item that will be delivered for both new sales and redeliveries, and yes you can then delete the old version, the ones that's now not marked as active A1: see answer to A2 A2: only the Active folder gets delivered, no matter how many version folders you have in there, you can only have one active at any time A3: yes you can delete old, inactive ones if you want to A4: as per A2, they get whatever is marked as active. so if the new item is active, then that's what they get on redelivery.
  20. When chat comes to you like that in local chat, it is being sent by an object, often a subscriber whether or not you have added yourself to it. You can block an object but it blocks only that instance of the object. If the object get's re-rezzed then it gets a new ID, and that then too needs blocking, and so on. Blocking the owner of an object should prevent those coming through but may also prevent you from being able to buy from that store owner again as items would not be able to be delivered to you. It's also very possible that some places will use different avatars rezzing out the same subscriber with the same avatar list in it which is sending out the chats which is why they keep coming through. Remember once you blocked an avatar, don't send any IM's to them as that cancels the block. the "X has been added" message, may not be LL adding these avatars to your block list, but could just be repeat notifications you haven't cleared from your list and they can keep showing until you clear them. The current method to prevent this sucks, but with some patience and persistence it does work eventually.
  21. @Dakota Linden I have been attending the Web User Group for a long and I have lost count how many times the issue arises regarding the likes of keyword spamming and other ways that are being used for items to appear in search results that they don't belong in. Boolean search is not the answer sadly because it cuts out items which ARE relevant too. As Alwin said, this is down to listers themselves, and them either being lazy, or thinking they are being clever, or just plain ignorance. Even demo's now, it's against the guidelines to not link a demo to main listing. But, if that item is NOT linked then it still shows up in results when you tick the box to exclude demos thereby skewing search results. WebUG says to raise it up at the governance meeting, governance wont discuss individual cases and wont say much more other than to flag items. But we do keep flagging, we report them, we complain to the meetings and offer suggestions and nothing seems to be changing or being actioned. I have flagged no end of items for keyword spam and for demos not being linked to full items and not a single one of those items has ever been actioned (i know this cos i keep coming across the same flagged listings with the same faults i flagged it for), despite them both being against the MP guidelines. There are some stores (and not new ones either) that you could sit and flag every single item for those two afore mentioned breaches alone. This has to start coming down on the store owners. And yes I too have had items delisted in the past for one reason or another, and as inconvenient it might be at the time, it sure does make you sit up and watch what you're doing.
  22. 2FA is something LL are working on. It came up at the last Web User Group (Aug 4th) but i cant remember if there was any more news
  23. It all depends on how far you are willing to go or how close you want the similarities to be between your RL self and your avatar. You could go as far as getting a custom skin made, which will possibly be based on a specific head, the bento heads give you much more customisation for shaping, same with a mesh body, with a little time and several demos you can probably get a body looking exactly like your RL one, hair, make up etc, the cosmetic side of things, those can be grabbed cheap (or free) through the likes of hunts, sales, gacha resells, etc. Buying heads, body, custom skins etc can easily set you back 15k L$ or more (over 60 USD in real cash). If you only want somewhat of a resemblance then look out for inworld hunts for free stuff, there are a cpl of freebie stores but i cant for the life of me remember what they're called, a search in your viewer for places named "freebie" should bring a few up. There is a flickr group freebies, and several inworld group that are just for listing free items, lucky chairs, midnight boards etc. You can also get the free Ruth mesh body on MP, and eBody still offer a free version too. Keep an eye ou toon FB, groups, flickr etc for when head makers do a giveaway. Basically I'd say don't rush it, do it slowly and gradually and over time you'll get the look you want. There are more than a few folk here who have spent months, years, building their avatars and they are still tweaking, some have done it several times over so they have different looks for different occasions (not just a change of dress, but a whole complete different avatar). And use the Marekplace wishlists and favorites. If you see somethign you cant afford but you liek it, add it to one of those lists. Wishlists can be seen by everyone, and sometimes folk suprise you and gift from it. Don't expect it to happen, but its a nice surprise when it does. Favorites is a list only you can see. You can also add items to a wishlist using caspervendors in world. So if you go window shoppping, click a vendor, add it to wish list, again this is a list others can view, and you can share links to both if you so wish.
  24. join the inworld groups for Builder's Brewery and/or Blender Benders 2.0. Both groups teach blender classes from the ground up, aimed at beginners and upwards, and yes these classes are free and the groups are free to join Edited to add: I wouldn't even bother with the avastar workbench yet. You need to know blender first cos without it you are gonna be even more lost than you are already.
  25. there are many reason that a listing is deactivated, from being flagged for wrong category, to keyword spam to the use of trademark or copyrighted names and so on and so forth. You could get a dozen of us here speculating its this reason or that etc but it doesnt actually give you a definitive answer. Best thing to do is file a ticket with LL and ask ... oh, and don't forget to check your emails, including spam and trash
