Deploy Plans for the week of 2020-05-18
Willow Wilder replied to Maestro Linden's topic in Second Life Server
But it was originally reported 2 weeks before that at BUG-228562 Group Notice Timestamps don't report accurately Server Channel 540369/ now 541440 when it only affected 1 RC Channel. Just felt the need to put that out there, 'cause I'm still grumpy about this. 😉 -

Deploy Plans for the week of 2020-05-11

Here is but one example. Blueberry is celebrating an anniversary and has sent out a gift card through the group. If your region has rolled already (as mine has), you see no icons and date/timestamps identical. The group chat is chaos with confusion. The moderator isn't aware of the bug yet. Toss in group chat lag. Lather, rinse, repeat for how many groups? -

I can't tell you how disappointing it is to read that BUG-228562 Group Notice Timestamps don't report accurately Server Channel 540369/ now 541440 is being rolled out to the Main Channel. I'm aware it was marked as minor, but it is not considered minor to those who on the support line having to address this question over and over again, and now there will be no where to send residents to get accurate information. This on top of groups timing out and chat lag. And yes, I've had my nap, but not my post-nap snack. 😛 -

Keep getting logged out?
Willow Wilder replied to LunaRavencroft's topic in General Second Life Tech Discussion
Not at this time. See BUG-228311 Using "Shop" button for Marketplace does not remember login credentials Best alternative would be to use an external browser. -
I do not. But if you've checked your login details are correct, try using last location, or selecting the region Morris or Ahern.

Profiles and Search Requiring Constant Log Ins
Willow Wilder replied to Ethan Evergreen's topic in Second Life Viewer
Pretty much anything with the built-in browser is an exercise in frustration these days. And it's not Mac-specific, nor viewer-specific, nor does it seem to happen with everyone (yet). See BUG-228311 Using "Shop" button for Marketplace does not remember login credentials (don't be fooled by the title) Best thing you can do for yourself is use an external browser for now. -

Numerous lost no copy items over several days

Long ago, I just got into the habit of going into edit mode prior to rezzing anything no copy. (Ctrl+3 for those who need the tip.) -
Textures blurring
Willow Wilder replied to SubZeroWins's topic in General Second Life Tech Discussion
I wouldn't suggest "any" draw distance. Nor Advanced Lighting Model unless taking photographs. With that GPU, keep your DD low. 64m max when there is no one else around, 32m max when out and about. Create graphic presets to make this easier https://wiki.firestormviewer.org/graphics_presets Also remove HUDs and only attach them when needed. Many tend to be texture memory hogs. Use favorite wearables to make this more manageable https://wiki.firestormviewer.org/fs_wearable_favorites -
The server chews it up and spits it out. Typically within an hour. You'll need to login using your Second Life account info to see this bug report and related links on the issue BUG-11555 Setting certain characters in Display Name results in DN changing twice within minutes and resulting DN changes to Korean.

scripts that might cause a lot of lag
Willow Wilder replied to Selen Minotaur's topic in General Second Life Tech Discussion
I would be reluctant to classify things with broad-brush strokes. As with most things, some scripters are simply better, more aware, more experienced, and yes, even care more, than others. I'm a bit confused that you left out the greediest of all: residents. What about lag? This is probably one of the most challenging things to understand. If you want any further help with this, please see this article and related links to get you started Firestorm Wiki - Lag Info -

Deploy Plans for the week of 2020-03-30
Willow Wilder replied to Maestro Linden's topic in Second Life Server
My point is that Linden Lab owns the grid, so your claim that it's unfair for them to intervene with your restart plans is irrelevant. If the Lab has plans to update the server code, they are going to update the server code. The rest was information as to how to keep yourself informed of when certain events occur, or other grid-wide events. Information you seemed to be unaware when you requested an invitation to be informed of any restarts. I don't know why you found this response impolite, nor do I understand why you found it necessary to play the "medical card" as an after thought. I provided information. Do with it what you will.
