  1. I'm keeping my thoughts to myself. I just want to know who's going to be the lucky one to answer every question with "NFC"?
  2. You can poke away at the viewers available LL Alternate Viewers If you have time, you can join the User Groups. The Content Creation UG is probably the best one to hear and ask about what's new and upcoming Linden Lab Official:User Groups
  3. You're not alone. Items being moved to Lost & Found folder is a known issue but the cause is as yet unknown. It most frequently occurs during the logout progress so users login to discover it at some point. Here's a bug report that's just begging for more info for the Lost & Found issue BUG-228813 Items that I'm currently wearing is moved to lost and found It means providing current viewer logs and such when the problem occurs. Ansariel added a fix to the current Firestorm release to help address this issue, but it still may need server side support as well. It does sound as though you may have had a couple of different things going on at the same time. KT's links should be bookmarked for future reference. Also to KT's point about why the folder may have appeared to be "missing".
  4. In SL, one person's creepy is another person's exhilaration. We have tools that people forget to use or feel they "shouldn't have to use" like parcel privacy, derender, and block/mute, ignore and move on. I never use inspect on an avatar, because there are less invasive ways of getting that info if I want/need it. If I don't want to be seen, I don't go out in public. If I'm out in public and you want to look at me, have at it. I don't care. I'm not likely to be looking at you, unless you look odd or peculiar enough in some way to catch my attention, and you need to go a long way out of your way to look odd or peculiar in SL. Try as you will, but no one can completely control the behavior of everyone else you encounter in SL, including LL. Save yourself some frustration.
  5. It's not just ridiculous. Every time someone increases their LOD setting, a kitten or puppy dies! But what I really wanted to share, is Beq's interesting article about LOD which I hope others will also find helpful. For LOD's sake stop!
  6. Each viewer creates its own cache folder by default, so this is not unexpected.
  7. This is interesting, and will certainly appeal to those wanting to see if they can double their FPS, but it lacks some benchmarking details. The video links to the Alchemy website, so I'm assuming the current Beta 6.3.6.46699 which is merged up to Linden Lab Version 6.3.6.535003. There's no indication which Firestorm version is being used. If it's the current Version 6.3.9.58205, that is merged up to Linden Lab Version 6.3.8.538264. That includes 7 updates from Linden Lab, compared with the Alchemy Beta. The current version of the official Second Life Viewer from Linden Lab is 6.4.3.542964. (That has Firestorm 3 updates behind.) How much any of this is a factor, who knows. But this is indeed part of the challenge of doing a "test". Similar, but I see 2 significant differences. Not easy to see the settings. Nor could I hear what you may have done in between running the different viewers for comparison. Interesting though. I wonder if it will inspire the Alchemy developer to continue his efforts. 🙂
  8. Likely screenshots of V1 Second Life Viewer. The menus displayed in the screenshot above are comparable to what you would find in the Firestorm viewer, for example. Except Me is Avatar, and Firestorm has the additional Content menu.
  9. Generally, that's true, but far from absolute. Just never say never. 😉
  10. Hi Chlc - I'm sorry to hear that. I'm afraid I'm not sure either. Were you able to get Firestorm to launch before updating the OS? As a test, would you mind checking on the official Second Life Viewer please? You can download that here https://secondlife.com/support/downloads/ (Note to self: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210642#macos10155)
  11. Wow, you guys really stink! 😛 No one even tried a cupcake bribe. I'm so disappointed. But guess what? Even without cupcakes, Firestorm's new release is now available with Share to Flickr. 🙂 Firestorm Update 6.3.9.58205!
  12. Prefs - General - Start location: My last location; also check the box Show on login In what way is RLVa not working? All the setting does is enable it and make the menu available at the top of the viewer. The rest is up to you. P.S. Reinstalling the viewer doesn't have any effect on your settings.
  13. It was removed from LL's viewer since Version 6.3.5.533275 (last December), and capability to connect server side over a couple of server deploys (only recently). It won't be removed from Firestorm, as we will just use the code we used prior to LL's implementation of Share. For those interested, the next release of Firestorm, Flickr will connect again. (Don't ask me when; I cannot say. Not even for all the cupcakes in the world.)
  14. This particularly warning is based on what my maximum complexity threshold is set to. So if you and I happen to be in the same region, your avatar complexity is 100,000, but my maximum complexity is set to 50,000, then you won't fully render to me. You'll be a jellydoll to me. That's my option in how I adjust my settings. My settings are not within your control. Your own avatar complexity shouldn't fluctuate that wildly if you're not making any changes to your avatar. There have been reports of some fluctuations, but I don't think I've ever seen it that extreme. Perhaps screenshots of the outfits and showing the complexity numbers for each would be helpful.
  15. Hi Danraka! We love to give credit where credit is due. We also love a community that doesn't hesitate to give back and help others when they're able to. 🙂 However, in this instance, this page Firestorm Wiki - TP Fail was first written in February 2013 and updated a few times. And this page Firestorm Wiki - DNS Fail was first written in April 2012 and was last updated January 2019 to update an external link. You can check the revision history in the menu that runs down the side of the Wiki pages. 🙂 However, we still offer a free viewer, free updates, and free support. That's right. All free. But wait! There's more. Also for a limited time, you can get a free KittyCatS CareKitty. I hope you and others take advantage of this awesome gift made with love during these challenging times. 🙂 Free! KittyCatS CareKitty!

  18. Unsure what you're referring to this time around, arabellajones, but thank you for your observation. It's been duly noted. The Firestorm Wiki is a large resource of information gleaned over many years of experience and observation, as well as user contribution. It is updated constantly in an attempt to keep up with the dynamic environment of Second Life. If any resident feels that useful information which could benefit other Firestorm users is missing, by all means we invite them (also you) to put that information on a notecard and send it to Anastasia Horngold. The information received is then reviewed with other team members and cross-platform users, as necessary, and the Wiki updated accordingly. Thank you!
  19. per Maestro: About 10% of the grid is on the 542403 RC right now; if you'd like to try the fix, these are a few example mainland regions on that version: Davis Gulf Portage Bay Falmouth Chishonganiro Bay City - Rollers Bouraq Sandbox Island Shamwari Hiltrude West Haven
  20. Details beyond "doesn't launch" are especially helpful. You may be running into an installer message? It's not clear. See this page as it may help Firestorm Wiki - macOS 10.15 Catalina Issues
  21. Possibly. Though it wasn't exactly urgent at the time it was reported. It was an annoyance with a relatively inconvenient workaround. Everyone thinks their bug report is important and high priority, and I do understand the need for prioritizing, probably better than many. My report was indeed marked as "minor", but I never anticipated that meant, LL would just let this one run wild on all channels. It's also not just the residents, it creates an unnecessary burden on the support lines, and that bothers me too, when it could have been avoided.
