  1. Yes, my graphics card has 1GB VRAM as well and the extra 256MB makes a lot of difference when using Firestorm. I rarely experience any texture thrashing. I haven't really noticed it with the 64bit SL Viewer yet, but I also don't run it for any length of time, usually just long enough to test something and switch back and forth. I imagine it's on the roadmap but perhaps wasn't a priority. Getting the new SL Launcher to behave has been and continues to be a challenge. Just as a general comment, one thing that most certainly helps to cut back on texture thrashing is less HUDs. Particularly mesh body HUDs. Certain brands *coughs* use a horrendous amount of oversized textures. If using Firestorm, go to the Developer Menu (Ctrl Alt Q to open) - Render Metadata - Texture Size. If you're seeing a lot of 1024x1024 and even 512x512 sized textures on tiny little buttons, just imagine all those eating up your memory and holding on to it until you logout.
  2. Whether the reply was flippant or ill-informed, I didn't see it as helpful for the OP, hence my response. Avatar Complexity has turned out to be more difficult to comprehend than I believe most people anticipated, which in turn, has caused a fair amount of frustration and a lack of understanding. I think that's unfortunate as it does have benefits for helping to cut down on lag. People are always screaming for methods to help cut down on lag, and when methods are introduced, some will just scream more if they have to take some time to understand it.
  3. Just don't call me and you'll be fine.
  4. You're welcome. ACI stands for Avatar Complexity Information. That number you mentioned you were seeing over heads. ARC (Avatar Rendering Cost) is the old terminology using the old method.
  5. Here's a complete list of Firestorm settings along with a short video by Torley Linden explaining the feature which should help you understand Avatar Complexity better http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_avatar_complexity_settings Not really. It's entirely dependant on the user's settings which are within their control. My ACI is currently 36,132 which I consider quite reasonable, but I would be a jellydoll to someone with their complexity set to default low of 35,000. I see no reason for anyone to contact me to tell me I'm making them laggy when all of their settings are within their control, including derender if they want to. This is one of the reasons those ARC detectors that eject you from venues are rather silly.
  6. This is expected behavior for now. See Kyle Linden's comment here BUG-202602 [Alex Ivy 64bit] Texture Memory limited to 512MB
  7. Hi Ansel. For Firestorm, did your clean install include deleting settings and cache, as well as a new installation of the viewer? If not, try that next. Full Clean Install
  8. Review the Firestorm Wiki section Viewer Screen Is Too Large, Top Menu Bar Is Missing, and Click Area is Too Low on this page for options. As noted on your other thread, it depends on your system which option to choose and that information hasn't been provided. http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_intel_issues
  9. I have it on good authority from someone who is a part of that particular Secret Cabal that it's still being investigated and to quote a firstname Linden from the most recent meeting "...I should probably go try and reproduce that issue so we can make sure it never ever ever ever happens again." I don't feel comfortable sharing the secret gang handshake though, as I've just gotten up from my nap, waiting on tea, and frankly, you don't come across as all that much fun.
  10. It seems both of my Magnum regions had been on 328871 and both are now on 508236 after one restart. 11. Something to check using Firestorm. World Menu - Show Friends Only. If enabled, anyone not on your friends list will be derendered. To rerender, disable that setting and TP away and back again. It's an awesome performance tool in busy venues, but easy to forget it's been enabled. Hopefully a future release will have improvements for this feature.
  12. I experienced this yesterday, but wasn't as anxious to get logged in, so waited it out. Today I've just encountered it again. I noticed my anims were stopping/starting, and names in group chats were appearing as (Loading...) so I logged out and wasn't able to login again using both SL Viewer and Firestorm. After about 15 minutes, I was able to login again, but connection is still flakey. I wasn't able to buy anything, and when I decided to TP away, I was disconnected and again, stuck at Loading... Like others, the Dashboard isn't loading, so am unable to contact Support. The Grid Status page loads, as does the Forum (thanks for starting this thread). ;-) Grid Status updated https://community.secondlife.com/t5/Status-Grid/bg-p/status-blog

Well, guess what, my F5 does not do that. When I press ctrl + F5, it pulls up a window about searching for computers. I'm really frustrated and I'm really confused and I don't know what else to do. Please, someone help me. Thanks, Namida According to https://community.secondlife.com/t5/Status-Grid/RESOLVED-Scheduled-Billing-Maintenance/ba-p/3061414 where the "hard refresh" suggestion was given, it states: If you require additional assistance, please contact our support team through the support portal at https://support.secondlife.com/

  16. I'm so confused. As of 1:20 p.m. today, the cancelled RC rolls have been scheduled for tomorrow, November 11th, but today is the 11th and tomorrow is the 12th. People who do support just want to know whether or not to call in sick. :smileywink: [uPDATED] Rolling Maintenance RC Server Channels [updated 1:20 PM PST, 11 November 2015] Rolling maintenance for RC Server Channels has been rescheduled for 7:00 AM PST tomorrow, November 11th.
  17. Thank you Landon and LL. Your blog post is just awesome on so many levels.

I'd still like to know what caused it and what to do if it rears its ugly head again but at least i have options now regarding whom to ask for help. :matte-motes-inlove: To recover missing floaters (windows) should it happen again see http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/missing_windows This is a bug in Firestorm Version 4.5.1. which has been mostly resolved in newly released Version 4.6.1. unless you use the Vintage or Latency skin.

I have tried and tried to enable the basic shaders and atmospheric graphic options for some time now and every time I do it seems ok at first and I get pretty water and sand and then it will start to glitch a bit when I move or look at builds and then out of nowhere I crash. I also crash when I try to teleport when the shaders are enabled. I have been trying to figure this out to no avail. Could some one please help. I will post all the tech specs.
