  1. I'm thinking the best way would be to create a group, set the land to that group, and invite your partner to join that group. Then, under the Land/About Land tab check the box that says "allow objects"/"object entry" to group only. That way you won't have random people rezzing objects on your land. Make sure she's wearing that group tag to rez. Something like that anyway. I'm not in world right now but I believe that's probably the easiest way unless someone else knows another. Good luck!
  2. I wouldn't mind seeing a mix of Traditionals and Victorians, even a few campers IF they appear as they do in the expo with the landscaping/trees and terrain keeping them (or the last one at least) separated. I wouldn't be impressed to have a camper right next door. Houseboats, and having an array nearby, would very likely lag me out. Unfortunately I've found that in my explorations of Belli travelling too close to houseboats sends my FPS into a fitting nosedive, I suspect due to having so many wedged in together at fairly close proximity and the fact many (not all) have boats and planes and watercraft vehicles parked alongside - which is something I haven't seen to the same extent in homes on land. But that's just my experience and I can't speak for everyone, and it would be ignorant of me to do so. One thing I'd love (but can't ever see happening now) is an update to the Traditionals that allows for wall colouring as was introduced with the Victorians. Having a Vic next door with more "abilities" beside my Trad would give me serious green-eye (and no I've no inclination as yet to move to a Vic as they are all too big for my tastes. I love my Adams too much). Seeing the houses and boats and campers all together on the expo is quite interesting and eclectic, but I can't honestly say it's something I'd personally want to see or live in. Trying to cater to individual whims of people who want only A and B but no C or D etc would be adding exponential work to the LDPW and IMHO not really necessary. To be honest if it's not broken why fix it? (Which is probably the primary reason for Trads to not be updated with the Vic ability as I previously mentioned, unfortunately). I'm going to voice an unpopular opinion regardless since my opinion was asked (by all means tell me I'm wrong. My opinion won't change). Having so many styles in the one area has the potential for Belli to start looking like dreaded mainland all over again - depending on how it was done (and again, individual tastes will vary). I for one prefer conformity and uniformity but even now - looking at how so many people are skirting so close to ignoring the covenant or some blatantly defying it regardless the effect on the street, neighbours, or anyone else - its going to be harder to enforce (or at least not as easy to visually pick out rule-breakers as it is now), when you're looking at more than two styles per region. A lot of us have moved to Belli to get away from that "anything goes"/"random and eclectic" mentality. Give me clones before you give me chaos, hands down. </rant>
  3. I think it matters. Less scripts can only be a good thing for the region as far as I'm aware, but again since I'm no expert I'm sure others can shed light there. I just think it's worthwhile, if my opinion counts for anything. Also I caved. I knew I would. I used that last ONE prim earlier (I know, I know *lol*). But I had a valid reason. While I know RFL is an American foundation I felt I had to add a personal touch... When he was first diagnosed the doctors gave my Dad five years to live. That was seven years ago. Thankfully he is still with us and still fighting Prostate cancer as we speak, and though he and I are both Australian, we all know cancer doesn't discriminate or care about nationality. So rather than plaster his face all over the internet or add anything Aussie to the display home I thought I would honour Dad and his battle this way instead. And NOW I can say my home is finally done! ❤️
  4. I feel your pain. I've shirked on other things to get this done and can't stop going back to tweak something or other. It's a habit that only seems to get worse as time goes on. I still tweak my current Belli home at random times, especially if/when I find something that absolutely needs to go in and I need the prims for it. That's when the games really begin trying to decide what stays and what goes... Forget shopping addiction, is there a support group for constant decorators I wonder? 🤔 At least finally I can say I am done (as much as I suspect I'd go in and tweak it right up until open and then beyond if I let myself). In the end I was actually struggling to meet that 351, that's not even a joke. I'm so used to having that buffer spare it felt wrong to have none. In the end as of typing this I have one prim left to use. ONE. Let's see if it's still spare tomorrow! *lol* One of the best side effects to come from living in Belli is learning how to live inside those prim limits knowing there's absolutely no room for negotiating for more. Thinking back to when I first started SL and was renting places I always bought more prims and the places still felt lacking. If only I knew then what I know now. That's another reason I don't think I'd ever go back to mainland and forfeit my retirement in Bellisseria. That kind of freedom means I would never be satisfied. At least now I am. That says it all.
  5. You'll get more prims (sometimes!) by deleting the scripts inside of objects you don't need and linking them as well. I've done that with my toilet, tub, and bed - took out the animations, deleted the scripts and everything inside the object's contents where I could (unless doing so broke or otherwise effected the object, sometimes it will remove an object's texture completely) and then linked them all to the rest of my linkset. I've actually done that to my home in Belli too as they are all just decor to make the house look like a home but in all the months I've had a Linden home have never actually had a bath or used a toilet there or even have the intention to role play doing so there. So unless it's an object I use (chairs mainly) the rest are just decor and can be treated accordingly (again, sometimes). Trial and error will tell you if linking objects increases or reduces land impact but it's a system that has worked for me so might help you. EDIT: It's worth adding too that sometimes just by deleting the scripts/contents of an object that you can potentially save a prim just by doing that and not even having to link it to anything else if linking makes you nervous. It doesn't always work and I'm sure the experts have the technical explanations as to why, but I can only tell you what I've seen and done. And since I don't use lights either (generally speaking, as I mostly rely on windlight) it's also a way to save prims and reduce scripts too.
  6. I still have just shy of 20 prims left from memory (give or take) but can't get in world yet to use them as SL is undergoing maintenance as we speak. Ordinarily I like to keep some spare for attachments etc but since the aim of the game is to show what can be done with the prim allowance I'm determined to go crazy and use every single prim. That's why I've started using a few items that are higher LI than I'm used to. At least I have the style card done, I just need to use up the last few prims and then can send that through. @Nikki Mathieson; speaking of the style card, after we list everything used is there anything else we need to add? Despite my initial reservations regarding time I must admit I've enjoyed this more than I expected. It's like a cloistered version of Belli anyway but with the familiar faces from the forums (for the most part). It's great to see you all in your elements! As silly as it sounds I got a little star-struck in a way. Seeing pictures of what you all do is not the same as seeing it in world, at least to me. And seeing all the plots come alive with so many different styles is fun too. It's showcasing personalities as much as it is personal style or anything else. Personally I would definitely be interested in doing something like this again (if there were spaces available of course, I wouldn't want to stop anyone else from having a turn). ❤️
  7. I know of someone who might be interested. I have IM'd you his details in world. 😊
  8. Where did you find it so that others, like myself, might be able to nab one? Please and thank you in advance.
  9. Well that being the case I've submitted an application. We'll see what happens! 👍
  10. It's probably not the place to mention it but since this is BD related I figured it was relevant. Maybe someone else has the answers. I know @NiranV Dean has mentioned avatar complexity at length and oft spoke of the borkened state of LL's complexity. Admittedly I didn't put much thought into it until recently. As I get more familiar with using BD as an everyday viewer I've also noticed everyone around me is a jellydoll; I haven't seen one single avatar over the last two days just lots of colourful avatar shapes. This led me to question what my own avatar complexity was and if others could see me. After checking the default settings in BD I've come to the realization that *I* have been a jellydoll to everyone else too (in BD, unless they have their slider higher than the default). So what I want to know is; what do others strive for or have as their avatar complexity? What do you personally consider acceptable? (Forsaking the generic answer of 'as low as possible' 😑). Interesting comparison just now to illustrate my point; This is my current complexity on Black Dragon (yikes!)... And this is my current complexity on Firestorm (wasn't sure how to bring up the Advanced option as BD)... Hopefully this didn't derail the thread too much, but as we're talking about making avatars look good unless the complexity is satisfactory the only place they can be seen and admired is or will be the forums! 😳
  11. Aww bless you, thanks for the vote of confidence! 😘 I do like the sound of this but the time frame worries me. My biggest concern with this is that it takes me literally days, sometimes a week or more to come up with any kind of style or design I like as I tweak and change my mind as I go just that much. As we speak I'm currently between two building projects for other people so while I'm interested (and honestly a tad daunted 0.0) I'm also not sure yet - it highly depends on time. Worst case scenario a semi-duplication of one of my set-ups could be done if you're really desperate? 🤔
  12. Now this is art. I absolutely LOVE this. Does it sound creepy that I want to hang this pic on my wall at all? Probably, but I still want to anyway! Visually stunning. 😲❤️
  13. Aww, thank you! ❤️ ❤️ And thanks to you too. If I'm gorgeous you're absolutely stunning so between us we're unstoppable! XD Thanks hon! 😊 After all that hopping we did I ended up going back to Deetalez which used to be my fav (body) skin maker before Pepe (v.1 skins only, still not a fan of the v.2) and It Girls. Deetalez does feel a bit washed out and pale but I can't go past their body skin details. Call me crazy but if a body skin doesn't have things like knuckles on the fingers and toes or adequate detail (and back fat! XD) then I won't wear it regardless how pretty the face skin is. Of course Izzie's flaw overlays are a must regardless the body skin. Speaking of overlays, a good thing with the Nova is the ability to add young or mature overlays to the face to whatever skin you're wearing - with crows feet and frown lines etc. The effect is extremely subtle in FS on high graphics but in BD and up close its very clear (and of course can be blended). The more I'm playing around with the Nova (and BOM) the more I'm learning. I'm still on the fence regarding the switch back to Maitreya, but at least the Flesh skins for Zooby Animesh matches the Deetalez I'm wearing so I'm still twinning with Riley. Yay! 👍
  14. Nothing staged or fancy, just spent the good part of another day tweaking my avatar yet again and this is where I'm at so far (straight from the viewer just now). I wanted to get away from Genus so got the Lelutka Nova. Anyway, not only did I change my head yesterday but I changed my skin and body too. On top of all that I figured why not start learning how to use BOM too and I'm actually enjoying it more than I thought I would. A HUGE thanks to @momomoonusagi for educating me on some basics. She's a saint, truly! And since the update I did go back to Maitreya for now but as I drastically slimmed down my shape for it (I still hate those hips) I'm really not sure how long that will last. We shall see I guess. 🤔 Also @Eva Knoller; hope you're feeling better now and welcome back!
  15. I started off as human in Second Life and have been that way forever here. I can honestly say I've never been tempted to change. When I first joined SL it was as a man (yes I am female in RL). He was a role play character on the Invisionfree forums, and since I was getting bored of that I looked for somewhere else to take him. I found SL by accident and signed him up. His only purpose was to take part in role play, specifically what I would later learn was better known as Urban role play and that's generally the route he remained on for a little while (he has since retired). Rae, my second account (and now my main) was born a year or so later. My original account was pure fantasy, meaning he was nothing like me but he still represented as very much human with all their limitations. Rae on the other hand was consciously made in my image (though not as old and more an idealized version of the RL me). I thought that creating her this way would give me something I could better relate to in this virtual world. Rae was created from her very first day as overweight with brown hair and brown eyes. Details that were generic enough without being too "me". And since at the time SL was packed with rake-thin mostly blond supermodel types Rae was created to be the polar opposite of what I saw. She was often seen as a troll back then (people would bounce her off a region with warning IMs before she could say a word) though she wasn't there to cause problems - but in the circles I ran at the time and the regions I visited that was how uncommon it was to see fat avatars. Now times have drastically changed. But the three key aspects of Rae have mostly stayed the same. (See the comparison pics here for what I mean): Though she's engaged in RP over the years regardless wherever Rae went she was always 100% human with human flaws; even surrounded by zombies in a post apoc environment she was simply human. In sci-fi she's human. In fantasy genres she's human (though admittedly fantasy has never really appealed to me anyway). I do tweak my avatar (often) but deviating too far from what I now associate with Rae never sits right with me or my close friends for that matter. On the rare occasion where I've changed her hair or eye colour or made her skinny my friends flip out. "That's not Rae!" they say. "That doesn't suit her." They don't deal well with change where she is concerned and to be honest neither do I because changes rarely last long before I revert her back to something more familiar. I don't know if others can relate but after all these years it almost feels my avatar has grown into a life of her own. She's a character in a visual novel in a sense, at least to me. So she's not "me" anymore insomuch as a separate identity with her own friends, own life, own style. To deviate from that feels like I'm changing the core aspect of who Rae the human avatar is. Now I/Rae spends much of my/her time either building or spending time with our "fake baby", the latter I consciously dress and tweak within limitations to closely resemble my avatar. I'd struggle to do that if I was anything other than human at this point in time given the lack of non-human additions for the Zooby Animesh babies. I'm sure one day that will change but I doubt that my avatar will. Rae has always been as she is now, sometimes builder, sometimes home-maker, or variations on the same theme. I'm too logically minded to fully embrace being any other species (though this is the one format where being what you want is encouraged). Were I tempted to venture down another route I'd have to make another alt account for that and after all these years I still don't have the urge to do so.
  16. I didn't even know this was a thing so couldn't get hyped about it, though just reading this and scanning the links provided on their blog/site I'm less hyped as I am... cautiously optimistic. I don't use BOM, I don't really go into the verts or polys (yes, I know I should and for most other objects in world I do but for bodies I sincerely I don't), I don't care about the rest of the bells and whistles really - though no doubt improvements are good to have. My only real interest with this is if there is an improvement to shape. Specifically speaking; the hips. Speaking as a former Maitreya wearer for years (until very recently) the one thing that pushed me away from Maitreya was the pointy hips - trying to create anything like an overweight body meant the hip bones stuck out in sharp angles like sore thumbs. I hated it so much that I abandoned ship at Christmas and went back to Belleza. I might be tempted to go back to Maitreya if this has been addressed. Yes, I make my own shapes and never wear just-out-of-the-box shapes so I know about sliders naturally, and I'm not even talking extreme shapes with massive thigh gaps or butts that could hold a saddle. But I can't do rake- thin, skinny avatars, and won't. There's enough of those in SL as it is and the extreme look of very fat or very skinny has never appealed to me anyway. But if I can't give Rae some decent curves without looking like Frankenstein's Bride then there's no point getting hyped; it's just the same thing with a few garnishes I didn't need, want or asked for. For now, judgement is reserved. 😐
  17. I love my Belli home; I've always wanted a place by the beach in SL and RL and the plot I have is so perfect so I can't imagine ever giving it up. If anything will make me move it will be having more prims somewhere else and that depends on the benefits of the so-called Premium Plus. Should any other style appeal to me then I'll most likely bump an alt back up to premium, but they'd have to be something special in order for me to consider moving. After spending years feeling isolated and surrounded by horrific lag and ugly builds on Mainland and having my own expensive private regions I don't plan on going back to those exclusively, but again; prims are a determining factor. I plan to give Riley a sibling at some point and since the Animesh babies average between 75-150+ LI each (not counting furniture) I can't do that at present in Bellisseria. As for building, I don't need private space as I once did as I now just use premium sandboxes (and literally build in a skybox there to stop trolls on the ground driving their cars into my builds -.- ). There's peace of mind in a Belli home too knowing that should I be offline for some period of time but continue to pay my account my home and contents will/should still be there where I left them when I get back. I've lost count the amount of times I've lost homes (and prims and gacha) over the years, and like others my inventory is overflowing with builds that never felt quite right anyway. Being "forced" to adapt to a certain style inspired me to build again instead of just buy and make-do. Aesthetically I enjoy the appearance of neighbours around me that can't rez ugly, out-of-theme builds (though there's one notoriously I do de-render thanks to their bright blue and purple external walls, but that's still better odds than mainland). I enjoy not seeing ban-lines all around me, and best of all is probably the overall look of the continent. With all the details, the landscaping, the sounds, and the overall ambiance the LDPW have created - it feels homely. And that's something I rarely felt anywhere else in SL. So for now; I'm putting down roots - and after all these years I'm very happy to do so. ^ Exactly 100% this.
  18. ❤️ 😲 Raising the bar just that. Much. Higher. Looks deceivingly simple but very detailed. Wish I was half as talented as you! 👏 (And nope, sorry I don't have an answer to your question, wish I did).
  19. This and your pic in the close up portraits of this are simply stunning! Fantastic work! 😲❤️ #seriousSLphotogoals
  20. This sounds like exactly what I need. Being sent a link to the lsl wiki is good in theory but would be nice to feel like I'm advancing as opposed to fumbling my way though scripts. 👍
  21. Thanks so much @Angelina String! I feel like a noob today and probably will for a while until I get used to it (and I can stop smacking into walls. But at least they're pretty walls with shadows now! XD). ❤️ And no, @Lillith Hapmouche though admittedly I didn't show her that. I didn't see it myself! I need to go back again! (Any excuse to spend more money lately *lol*) Riley's probably shocked enough I managed to get her out of the house to somewhere other than Pal Park. 😂
  22. Thanks so much! Yep that worked. I was afraid I have borkened it forever. You're a lifesaver, @Scylla Rhiadra! And thanks for the kind words. ❤️ Adding another one that's not nearly as artistic but relevant for me being a patriotic Aussie; just took Riley to the Australian Bushfire Wildlife Benefit and introduced her to some familiar scenery and wildlife (she's being shy in this pic, obviously). I hope I don't get in trouble for posting it but it's a cause very dear to my heart so... It's the first time I've been able to use DoF in a shopping event AND have Riley attached to me with shadows on and the FPS was no different to when I'm at my home in Belli! (And yes, I am wearing shorts in this pic, it's just that the shirt is long XD).
