  1. Thank you! Chairs are from {What's Next}, the fire pit is by me (NFS). 😁
  2. I've posted pics on the other thread, but I love this view out my bedroom window so much. It's so peaceful! Plus I keep tweaking the exterior. But this is so simple and I love! 😍
  3. I'm curious, is there a way to test this? Since I'm guilty of clutter, I'd like to try and make sure what I have isn't bad, or could at least be improved. I can control my textures/meshes, but the gacha that I love so much worries me regarding weight etc. How do we test, and what's best to look for? 😳
  4. That would be the Windlight: [TOR] Sunrise Defenderz (I use Singularity viewer, so not sure if that helps or not). 😁
  5. Just stopping scripts seems to help? I could be wrong about that but I tested this out myself earlier tonight. I had a sink and kitchen counter with animations in them, but since I don't use the anims yet I edit>scripts>stop scripts for both. Coincidently I saw my lag meter drop from red to a hesitant green, so that tells me it had to have some effect. That, or maybe it had nothing to do with my objects. But just in case for now I've turned off scripts to those 2 objects, and removed the scripts from others that aren't needed. Even my dining chairs have basic sits now. It's just the bed, sofa and bath that retain original scripts. The bath and the toilet sits can probably be turned off too until I decide to "use" them. Way I see it, can't hurt?
  6. I recognise your name on the radar but since I derendered the kitties I couldn't see they were yours - oops *lol* Um... hi ex-neighbourino. Hope you get a place soon! 😄
  7. ^ Front yard. ^ Back yard. I even have a butterfly and bird that move in the little garden bed to give it a sense of life. Shame the pic isn't better quality. Apologies they're a bit blurry. I had to bravely bump up graphics to take the pics then drop it down again before I crashed. 😑
  8. I can't use Blender, believe me I've tried. I can't wrap my head around it, but I use another prim-to-mesh program I bought on MP and it works well enough. No steep learning curve needed there, just trial and error My house style is Adams. I turned it into a 2 bedroom house with bathroom. Still plenty of room for just me and my clutter.
  9. I derender A LOT. I went walking last night after stopping by the Café @ Stine, and spotted a few things that were worthy of the derender button; a tall satellite tower (?), some full bright alpha trees, some cute but Breedable kitties with 50 lines of hovertext above their heads. Even a neighbour had some flying glowing orbs with hovertext (and nothing else in their home or yard) and so I derendered them too... I don't know if derendering actually does anything beyond clear my vision. They're technically still there chewing sim resources, I just can't see them. But surely there'd have to be some relief on my end with less for my system to have to render/show? Not entirely sure. I have this nagging feeling in the back of my head that for now we're living in the glory days of Belliseria, because eventually it will go the way of present day Mainland, and that saddens me. But until then, I'll just keep derendering things I don't like and pray the neighbours don't go crazy. For all I know everyone's derendered my set-up so they can't see it, and that's their right. And I'm with you on the lower graphics settings too. My internet connection is bad anyway, so even sim crossing comes with regular crashes
  10. I admit, when I first got my Linden Home I really didn't want to spend much money and tried to use a lot of what I already had. That didn't go according to plan at all. After I think it was @Chic Aeon's comment about dropping LOD to 2, I tested the theory and realised my yard especially needed to be redone. I replaced trees and bushes and bought grass that I'd seen others use and which held its LOD quite well. So while I didn't want to spend more, it actually worked out better in the long run that I did. Regarding decorating; I am a tinkerer. I'll pull things apart to make them fit together in a different way; or if I like the animations from one sofa but not the LI, I link them, then edit/unlink/delete the old sofa. I do that pretty regularly. I removed the shadows on pretty much everything (as some Windlight or graphics settings will cast its own shadow), and swap out things for lower LI where I can. I easily spend days decorating, and every day after that tweaking things here or there. I really can't help myself as there's always something better being released or something else taking my fancy, or if I can, something I can make if I can't find it. It's all a work in progress. The interior was generally easy once I sorted out room layout, but that in itself took me a few days to get the way I wanted. The backyard by far has been the biggest headache for me, stylistically. I set my house up to be my home and intentionally suburban (minus the white picket fence). But I didn't want the backyard to be empty. I also didn't want to mimic what others were doing. So I created a garden bed in the middle of the yard and broke up that massive space to two smaller spaces; one with a clothes line, the other with a seating area around a fire pit and a few chairs. By meshing my own I've cut the LI down again, as well as swapping out the aforementioned poor LOD trees I had previously (and keeping textures small where possible). So as of writing this, I still have 130 prims left that I'm desperately trying to stop myself using *lol* which I'm saving for my animesh Zooby baby to really complete this suburban dream. My friends are blown away at how much detail can be used with what they consider to be a low prim allowance. Honestly I think I would have struggled decorating the Winchester for space as I love a cluttered lived-in look, but the fact I am surrounded by Winchesters made me determined to have a smaller house just to be different. Prim-wise, a smaller space has worked for me.
  11. This is literally a handful of doors down the street from me. I stopped in last night and had a hot chocolate (good thing gestational diabetes for virtual pregnancies isn't a "thing" in SL *lol*) Anyway, I met a lovely lady here @deplove, as well as added a photo to the board. It's such a cute little set up! I think I'll be visiting this place a lot. Very welcoming and relaxing. Fantastic job 😁
  12. You make a good point. I also stand by the fact that there's an awful lot of empty buildings on the new continent. Regardless why, it's just sad to see. And its an awful lot of emergencies. Just sayin' 😋
  13. I came to the party a little late, around 12 hours or so behind the initial release of the new homes, and even at that point for me the pickings were less than ideal. I rerolled around 9 times, and that was when I saw on the forums that people were struggling to get a new house - so I stopped rerolling. I've been here in my current traditional home ever since. Now that I am set up the place has grown on me, and I do like it. I also have home-owner-envy of those living on the beach or coastal areas, but know they're far less common than inland/land-locked houses, so rolling to gamble for anything ideal is far too risky. I can't see the odds really improving as time goes on, at least not for a while at least and the proverbial hype dies down. As new styles are released I MAY be tempted to reroll. Again, I'm in two minds about it, especially until I see what these new designs will be. Not only that, I live across the street from a river so I can see the water between my neighbours' houses and the view isn't all that bad, and I'm on a hill. I really could do a lot worse so I'm wary of losing what I have now. I don't know. It's a gamble. But I do like the prospect of perhaps something more urban? It all depends how it plays out. There's likely to be another rush of rerolling when these new designs are released and I could well be left homeless if I take that leap. So as of right now... I'm undecided. But the houseboats at least are of no interest to me, so there's at least one less person who will choke the system They are a good idea, I just don't like the close proximity of "pier living".
  14. Something like this would be good. Or even the linking system used in RP sims where you can see on a webpage what rentals are available in (semi)real time. For the fact this forum has a lot of people screaming out for new houses, a majority I am seeing in world still sit empty and vacant. It's depressing to think those that want can't have, and those that have don't seem to really want - just have for the sake of having. ☹️
  15. I sincerely hope this was just a glitch. As dull as some people think the cookie cutter burbs are, I hands-down prefer what we have now to another repeat of current mainland where it's open-slather for ugly builds, full bright everything, and glitching alpha textures. The minute LL allows people the ability to start rezzing their own houses on Belliseria is the moment I abandon land and get the heck out of Dodge. 🤮
  16. You're right, and I do agree with you. They are high LI, but in that same vein I've seen a lot of furnishings people have rezzed that are far higher and far less... aesthetically pleasing shall we say. Some people don't care about making the most of their prim allowance, and some like us count every single prim spent. But personally I would like the option to have one or two trees or the like that will help tie my land in to the surrounding area. It's just personal preference. I'm not sure about this one. Is it an actual movie theater that streams media direct or are we talking an animated texture stand-in? I'm not anything close to an expert when it comes to scripts, but I'm sure when you stream actual media (for instance, a movie on YouTube), then the stream starts at the point someone arrives. So for instance, you're watching a stream, and you teleport a friend in to join you. Your movie will continue and theirs starts at the point they arrive, so you aren't actually watching it together unless you are both watching it together from the start, something like that. Maybe @Rolig Loon could correct me on that; she's far more knowledgeable than I. 😊
  17. I'm amazed people actually still read profiles to be honest. And funny considering a good percentage actually don't bother and head straight to the pick-up line before nary a hello is even exchanged (then wonder why their attempts at wooing are epic failures). But to get to the point perhaps only one person DOES care what we think. I'll just leave this right here... 😶
  18. I'd be happy to take part, but if it's an actual walk where we all TP to the same spot and critique or admire then maybe not possible due to time zone restraints. Beyond that, with the current Teleport bug, I crash trying to TP anywhere 4 out of 5 attempts. So I cam a lot. But just opening our houses seems easy enough. Add to this; why don't you have a sign/texture you can offer to those interested and they can display it out the front of their homes so it's easily visible for anyone to see? But I really do enjoy seeing how people decorate their homes. There should be a highlight of the week thread or something! *is starting to feel like I belong on the tv show Desperate Housewives* 🤣
  19. This is random, but how about a Linden/Mole owned "Home and Garden" type store that sells copy/mod, no trans items they have used around the continent? So literally a building somewhere people can walk into and purchase items that are Linden owned. I know there's the customisation pack in the mailbox of our rentals, but I mean things like the old stone walls, or brick paths, or garden chairs, or docks, or things that weren't included for free. If people can actually purchase items that they literally see just outside their door it may help encourage and maintain the look LL and the Moles have worked so hard to achieve. As an added bonus people could actually physically visit (as opposed to cam-in) and meet neighbours that way? Expanding on that... I'd love to see a handful of generic stores the Lindens/Moles create that continue fostering this community/light RP vibe; a café? A diner? Things along that route that gets people out and mingling beyond a park bench and a nice view of nature. I want to stress I don't want actual user-owned stores. If people want to sell items they have the ability to do that elsewhere already. But I'm talking about Linden/Mole designed and owned. No player owns it. No player runs it. No player can decorate it. No player can rez there. We can just walk in, sit down, meet and mingle with others over "morning coffee" with a sense of purpose. Those that want to engage in light RP can, or just take pics, or watch the virtual world go by. Having the ability to meet people at a park for example is a little hit and miss, because some people don't want to "disturb" others, but at least in a café it feels more purposefully social? In some of the Linden Homes topics here on the forums there's already been people opening their houses for people to come and visit. And in the Belliseria group last night people asking the same thing, so there is a demand, however niche it may be. Having an actual café where people can meet would allow these people to use their homes as homes, and get those who want to just get out and mingle another avenue to do so. Maybe I'm just overthinking it. But yes, it's just a slight extension on an existing theme with the community areas that have already been created (and are fantastic btw, thank you!!). Oh... and I'd love to see a more urban area, and a trailer park for those who enjoy a more grungier life style, and some visual/structural variety away from our present (albeit lovely) cookie cutter suburbs. Maybe that's what those orange blocks in SSPE are going to be? 😊
  20. You're welcome. I'm channeling my inner Yoda today. It's your lucky day But yes, discover boundaries by all means. Just go into any and all situations with your eyes wide open where possible. You might not get scammed or hurt, but there's just as much chance that you could be. Or worse. Stalking has been known to happen, and it can extend out into RL if you let things get out of hand. No one starts out with bad intentions (or most people don't, generally speaking). Even the villain of any story doesn't usually see himself or herself as the bad guy/girl, feelings just "happen". But SL does foster incredible intellectual connections because it's our brains (and fingers on keyboards) here doing most of the work. In real life you get a good read on someone by the way the look, or walk, or talk, or tone of voice, or little mannerisms that just don't happen here. So all you have to work with are words and a pretty avatar. And some people get very good at "reading" other people by practicing on others over the years. Not everyone wants what you want. Not everyone is as intuitive as you think they are. Just seasoned. So stay safe as you enjoy those beautiful people/connections.
  21. I'm in two minds about this. I know maturity ratings are a generally confusing affair to most, myself included. But I see Mature rated land as a good compromise regarding this whole suburban community feel that's being created. But in short, you can't please all of the people all of the time. As a general rule of thumb, I tend to treat Mature rated land as I would a real life setting in that adult activity happens behind closed doors away from prying eyes, or you're likely to be arrested for indecent exposure or the like. I'd not expect to see body parts being flashed outside my RL front door (unless people are drunk) but even that on occasion does happen, it's just so infrequent it's not "the norm." And having drugs or guns or sexually explicit material can also be found in everday RL homes, but again I can't see it as soon as I step outside my RL front door. Those things are kept away from prying eyes. The one thing that constrains RL that doesn't constrain SL is the ability to cam inside buildings or yards and in essence see through walls. Even if people make themselves appear invisible (an oxymoron at it's finest), the items they have rezzed are still visible, and that will still impact the neighbourhood appearance if enough people do it. Now I get the argument that people pay their fees, they "own" their houses, and should be free to do what they want. Sure, but even RL rentals have contracts, and communities and countries have laws that dictate what's allowed and what's not allowed. You either agree or you move somewhere else where you can do what you want. One massive drawback of having Adult rated land is the fact that people tend to loiter and choke up the region looking for free sex, and lagging it down with their excessive scripts even just by standing there. Add to that, people have a disturbing habit of making sure every piece of furniture they own in Adult land contains adult scripts; so it's not just beds or baths with adult animations, its crosses and hitching posts and cages and so on in EVERY home, not just the occasional one. That's an awful lot of drag to struggle through, and it's not even including the part about just how so much adult content (or even non-adult for that matter, but poorly designed and poorly scripted objects) are UGLY! I've yet to see a single Adult region that isn't pandering to the free sex crowd, or those looking to capitalize in some means or another. It's the very opposite to fostering community spirit, and how LL would police that seems like a headache no one in their right mind would want to take on. Now on the flip side, after many years playing in predominantly urban sims where adult themes WERE daily occurrences, I've found myself becoming less child-friendly. I don't mean I dislike children, not at all, I just mean that perhaps I could be considered less Martha Stewart than General rated suburbia intends. And I know for a fact a lot of my good friends are just too rough around the edges for the new sims, and won't even visit for the risk of potentially being reported or ejected for offending someone's sensibilities. I also worry on occasion that something I have rezzed or said will be considered offensive to someone without meaning to. Because yes, it is MY land, and I SHOULD be able to rezz and do what I want, but there ARE laws I have to abide by, and trying to find a delicate balance at times feels like walking on shaky ground. If arguing we should all be able to decide what rating we want individually; can you imagine how it would work if for instance a toddler avatar is happily riding their little bike along a road enjoying the sights of nature and is suddenly confronted by a massive poster of a giant erect appendage on the front porch of someone's house? How do you dictate what is allowed or not allowed without the Lindens personally camming every house every day (or neighbours spying or reporting, in itself fostering paranoia and the opposite of this new community spirit) just to make sure people aren't violating ToS, especially with regards to adult activities or imagery around minors (minor avatars, regardless the age of the player behind the keyboard)? Again, trying to find a happy blend between General, Mature, and Adult in the one space seems like opening one very massive, uncomfortable can of worms. So perhaps not regions inside this new community but separate islands, similar to the new "squished pickle" being constructed by the Lindens and Moles for new houseboats, would be another form of compromise? Again, I'm wary of especially adult rated land for the whole Zindra effect (go experience the ugly and lag first-hand for yourself), and I know I wouldn't fit in to G rated land either. So this just begs the question; if say we do have separate continents for separate rated land, and later when the polish wears off this new project and the LL staff aren't so stringent maintaining laws to stop the cancer spreading, what's stopping Belliseria or her potential G and A rated cousins from becoming like the previous mainland continents? Nothing, that's what. Those who don't learn from the mistakes of the past are doomed to repeat it.
  22. You heard that too? I'll admit, the first few times I heard it I was checking the volume on my RL TV, I had no idea what that was or where it was coming from. Forgot to cam UPWARDS -.- Recently my neighbour of three doors down started hovering beside her home in a helicopter apparently "talking" to her partner who was seated on the porch just beside her. Not sure why seated on a chair with him is too mainstream, but mainland has always attracted the avantgarde I suppose. Speaking of helicopters, there must have been a rush on sales lately; it seems like every region now has at least 2 disturbing the peace or flashing from their suburban rooftop helipads. I can't wait for the planes. Maybe the hype will die down after the dust settles... I just wish people would restrict sounds to their parcels. I know it won't solve all problems, but a little consideration would go a long way. I also know when you step out onto the street it's open slather, and you're going to hear all kinds of vehicles, but in homes for hours at a time? Not fun. Especially when trying to track down the culprit to mute it. *goes back to grumbling and hunting whippersnappers off her lawn from her rocking chair on the porch*
