  1. Thanks for seeing it and replying. I forgot to write your name down to IM you later. I thought I would have saved your name in the picture, but it did get cut off in my snip screen shot. You are right, I was standing on the other side of the room, and didn't move my camera. So the screen shot, cropped to show only you, was rather low resolution and doesn't do the bra justice. That was a fun get together, I hope it can happen again.
  2. Marybeth, I agree. I don't think that men really understand women's attitudes about seeing naked men. Cody Love it. And a woman sees a naked male avatar - :matte-motes-yawn:
  3. Below is a screen shot of a bra. (made using snipping tool, not the SL camara). Can anyone identify it?
  4. "I suggest panties! Everyone needs them, every day, no matter if its winter or summer, rain or wind, you gotta wear some panties.":smileywink: You don't have to wear them. But in RL most women wear them if they wear skirts or dresses! In RL we all need (or should need) several, unless we wash every day. And they do wear out. In SL we can wear the same pair and it won't wear out!
  5. How do Mary Beth's wordpress and facebook links differ from your Steel & Ink link? Do we have a case of the pot calling the kettle black?
  6. Did you mean "brians" or "brains"? They may have people working there named Brian, but I don't think they have brains I guess that will get me banned!
  7. Drake, I don't see any links in steph's posts, or any other posts for that matter, that violate the rules. Perhaps someone who is picky could claim that your link to Steel & Ink violate them, but that would be picky. Sue edited for really stupid typo
  8. I agree with Lillanna and Bob. I am a lesbian. I sometimes hang out with other women in clubs, but I do not have sex in SL. I know that some of the "lesbian women" in SL are really straight men. To me, I would not want to have a "romantic moment" with what I thought was a woman but was really a man playing a woman. I, like others, believe that what ever my avatar is doing with another avatar, I am doing with the person operating it. Obviously, others feel differently. But the best policy is to refuse to answer a question or to be honest.
  9. Marybeth, "That is true of any site (forum, blog, etc.) that does not verify its members." Is there any way any site can verify the gender of its members? Sue
  10. Morgaine: you mean women in SL are suppose to wear bras?" One reason women wear bras is for getting undressed in a "romantic situation". And then there those of us who wear them "just because..."
  11. I am not an alt. You may have seen me in SL, but may not have noticed. I don't remember everyone I see in SL, just some.
  12. Syo commenting about quality. That's ironic!!
  13. I am just getting started learning blender. One question that I haven't found in toutorials is how to get my avatar into blender. I assume that there is a way. Thanks.
  14. Marybeth, I agree with your rant. I would not see any problem with the default female avatar being realistic. However, if LL wants to be "G" rated in their default avatar, they could make them like the store mannaquin or a doll - no nipples but the basic shape and no crack "down there". When my son was young he certainly saw my girl's dolls unclothed. And I certainly had no problem with that. But the default avatars will show their underwear if the avatar is wearing a swimsuit, even a "modest" swimsuit. Sue
  15. Too me, it seems obvious. The guidelines said not to do anything you would feel uncomfortable doing in front of you grandmother or a grade school class. I feel very comfortable taking off my bathing suit, showing, and getting dressed in a bathroom at my grandmothers house near a beach. I am sure any teacher or administrator would feel very comfortable exposing certain parts while using the appropriate rest room at a school. So I am sure that it is OK to completely undress in a clearly marked dressing room or a private house in a G area, although going outside in public exposed would not be OK. I agree with one poster who pointed out that certain people (perverts, exhibitionists, etc) feel comfortable doing things most of us would not consider OK in public in a G area. I think that the TOS and guidelines should be less vague and ambiguous and more explicit.
  16. First, let me say that I am not in the field of intellectual property (IP) law. My firm does have a group that handles IP law, and I have had a little bit of training in IP law but much has been forgotten. There has been some good information and some disinformation in this thread. IP law is very complicated, and if you intend to use a trademark (or service mark), be very careful. From what I know about the subject, as an example, if you state that you "sell Coca-Cola cheaper that any other store", you are OK (assuming that is true). If you say that your soft drink "tastes better that Coke" you should be OK. If you make a soft drink and label it Koke, you are NOT OK. If you use someone else's trademark, or something that looks like someone else's trademark, for the purpose of selling your product or implying that there is some connection between your product and the other company's product, you should check with a lawyer first. There may be a serious problem. Note: Coca-Cola® and Coke® are registered trademarks of The Coca-Cola Company. Disclaimer: do not use the above as legal advice. If you need legal advice, contact an attorney who works in the area of IP law.
  17. Ann, There has been some good advice from others. I agree, it would be nice to be able to input clothing sizes (dress, bra, etc.) and then use the sliders only for "fine tuning", or to have a table where you could use the desired sizes to find the settings for the sliders. Unfortunately that does not exist. Maybe someday... The only way I know is to eyeball it. If you need, you can take pictures with a cell phone camera (perhaps ones no one else should see - they are easily erasable!) and use them to adjust the sliders. I assume that there is no simple "one-to-one" relationship of cup size to breast size on the slider. For one thing, in real life the band size affects the cup. For example, I am a 32B, so my bra cup is slightly different from your 34B. Compare my bra cup to a 38B and the difference is really noticeable. The band size (number) affects the body size (I can't remember the name of the slider, the computer I am using now is not the one with Second LIfe). So I would adjust the other torso adjustments first, and then do the breast size, based on looking at a profile of your avi. After that, while looking at the avi's profile, adjust the breast gravity, and, looking at the front, adjust the cleavage. As has been pointed out, skin is important because of the shadowing. (look carefully at pictures of women with different size breasts and you will see what I mean). But those shadows will only matter when your avi is naked. If your avi is wearing clothes when others can see, that really doesn't matter. If you want your avi to look like you (or look like what you would like to look like) it will take some trial and error, time, and patience.
  18. I took some screen shots on my computer of TV shows (web replays of shows, trailers, etc}. That resulted in the equivalent of Second Life but with better resolution and no "rez" problems. Most of the time I could not see hems. When I could, I imported the screen shot into GIMP and examined it. The only difference the hem made was a very slight difference in color. So I think that making hem using system layer clothes in GIMP or Photoshop would work OK, just make the hem slightly darker or less saturated (less white) than the rest of the shirt.

    Lingeries

I always wear a bra and panties. As has been mentioned, you should always wear panties or pants under a skirt. But I like to wear nice lingerie on SL. I can't explain why any more than I can explain why I wear nice looking lingerie in RL when nobody will see it. But I do, in RL and SL. Bob, you should try a thick padded C cup bra. You will find a much bigger selection. I am sure you will look just charming with some good size boobs, particularly if you have a beard.:matte-motes-big-grin-evil:
  20. Thanks for your answers. Since I asked the questions, I will also answer them: 1). How and why did you get started? Like others, I couldn't find what I liked, and the shopping experience in SL (like in RL) just wasn't for me. 2). What tools do you use? Do you use mesh, etc.? I use Gimp, cause it is free. I do not yet use mesh, prims, etc. I am just starting out, so who knows where the future will take me. 3). Do you make clothes that you would wear in Real Life, or clothes that you would only wear in SL? Yes. The things I make are like what I wear or would wear if I could find, in RL. 4). Do you make lingerie, sleep wear, bathing suits, outer clothing, etc. I mainly make dresses (top and matching skirts), tops of various kinds, pants and a few jackets. I have made a few bras and panties, but fairly simple ones. No sleep wear or bathing suits yet (maybe in the future). 5). Do you show off your clothing creations? Where? Only by wearing them "in public" - stores, meetings, etc. I don't know of any place (maybe someone could suggest somewhere) where people (avatars, actually) model clothes they make and discuss them. My lingerie is something that in SL no one sees, which is one reason I don't make much. (just as in RL, only my husband see them. But in RL I like to buy very nice looking underwear and nightys, although the only one that sees them is me and my husband, and I don't think that he notices!) Thanks for all your replies. Sue
  21. This is just for my curiosity. For those who design and make SL clothes as a hobby (even if you also sell them), I have a few questions: 1). How and why did you get started? 2). What tools do you use? Do you use mesh, etc.? 3). Do you make clothes that you would wear in Real Life, or clothes that you would only wear in SL? 4). Do you make lingerie, sleep wear, bathing suits, outer clothing, etc. 5). Do you show off your clothing creations? Where? This is purely for my curiosity and as a result of discussions in SL with others. Thanks
  22. Just a question for discussion sake: Is your avatar like the real you in RL? Is it somewhat like you but different in ways you would like to be different (taller, younger, bigger boobs, etc.)? Just curious. Sue
  23. No idea about building stuff, but the song was nice. However, I liked the ad even better! Sue
