OP's viewer crashed before the OP could get away, because OP wasn't even looking at the damn screen in the first place. A person wants to wander around in SL, it's a good idea to watch the screen. In RL I've fences that surround all of my property. I've a right to remove you if you decide to try and go over them. They can even be electric if I want. All of my neighbors have them too. We need them because people believe they should be allowed to go where they want any time they want. I pay for my property. If you want access that isn't there, ask. Otherwise it's mine to do what I want within law. TOS in SL. In SL I don't use orbs or ban lines. But if I want to LL lets me. Your opinion doesn't matter, LL's does. There's lots of things I think people shouldn't do in SL. My opinion doesn't matter there either. SL is big. It's not hard to find places where you can go. Kind of stupid to moan about places you can't.
  2. Of course I'm not famous, why would I be? I'm not the one trying to convince people I am. I think you're confusing notoriety with fame. There's a certain level of notoriety associated with your name, among a certain niche. It's not widespread tho. Notoriety's rarely ever something to be proud of. Don't think I'll ever understand why some people enjoy being disliked. Probably best that I don't try. Psychology's not my thing.
  3. You're not famous Mr Lane, despite what your delusions of grandeur tell you. I can Google a lot of things, find a lot of people, it doesn't make them famous. Most people in SL don't know who you are from any other resident, they probably don't care to either. Telling other people you are famous and giggling like a school girl in every post you make, doesn't change any of these facts.
  4. Have you considered the possibility that you were indeed encroaching on someone's land? Some people do have things in the sky. Sometimes things they do not want others visiting. Whether you like orbs or not, LL allows their use.
  5. The fact that it leaves no trace to an actual person, is why LL does not accept it. Maybe the universe is telling you that should rethink your illegitimate couplings in sl.

They have been posted to hundreds if not thousands of sites by now. Unless your gf is now pushing 40 and those pictures were taken a good 20 years ago, and not just a few years as she states, they can't be her. Those pictures used to be part of a collection people had to pay for, that is what they were created for, amateur porn. She's also not the first person in sl to use pics from the same woman. That is apparently one very popular amateur nude wife.

I don't give a crap what connections someone has. If a child av, furry av or any other av shouldn't be somewhere then they just shouldn't.

I still can't find a reason why is this happening. There's your answer. It makes as much sense as believing they would put a hold on an account for absolutely no reason.
  10. Also, I'm sorry but I must turn down your pm request for a private meeting. I'm not quite sure what "sure we can have a private meeting...let's sit down" is supposed to mean, but I never requested, nor would I want one. If you can't discuss a public matter in public, my guess is what you have to say is probably not all that grand to begin with.

We just spread our cover info, tried to take some forum input as positive replies (which it wasn't but I tried to be diplomatic and hear things)..all we're hearing is this being destroyed..well, it's not, so don't worry or give it a second thought. We'll survive just fine. Discussion closed..too busy to keep up with this nonsense. You really think your responses were diplomatic? You must use a completely different definition than the rest of the world. No one said anything about something being destroyed. What I said was your actions and behavior will likely cause you to lose subscribers. I know that for a fact. There is a reason your posts come up in search when one googles Sl Enquirer. It's not a good reason. I know people have chosen to unsub after watching you dig yourself into a hole telling others to relax and behave themselves, all the while acting like a fool yourself. Also, you don't get to decide when a discussion is closed, and when it's not. This is a public forum, and while you seem to believe you're the only one entitled to an opinion, that's not quite accurate. I still believe you're acting like a fool, using your company's name, and making yourself and Sl Enquirer look even worse than the opinions people may have already had. I'm sort of wondering when you'll really blow your lid, it's quite apparent you don't quite have a good grasp on much of anything at this point. Keeping your cool in the face of constructive criticism is a good thing, you should try it out sometime.
  12. As I already pointed out earlier, you've completely and utterly discredited anything you actually had to say, and done your publication and company an even bigger disservice. Do you honestly think that engaging in that kind of passive aggressive behavior is going to do Sl Enquirer any good at all? If you actually meant anything you said in your prior post, which I believe at a point you did, you've now recanted every bit of it by acting a fool. You are no better than those you judge when you act exactly as they do. Whether or not other people are being negative doesn't really matter much. How you respond and react to it, does. You're giving no one any sort of reason to want to work for you or be a subscriber. In fact, your behavior will likely cost you subscribers. A shame really, as you've pointed out, it's been around quite some time. I don't quite understand why you're trying to tarnish it single handedly, but you are doing a marvelous job. Not everyone who commented was as judgmental as others, and I include you in that statement. Some people may not have the best approach, but that doesn't always have to take away anything positive from their posts. It didn't take away from yours either, but continuing it will. I really would love to have a word with your boss. I'd be interested in knowing why they'd want to have someone who engages in this sort of back and forth behavior in a public forum, using the company's name no less, on the payroll. Personally I'd take more pride in something I'd built up for years. Unless, of course, you are the actual boss, in which case, everything but the payroll part still stands. If you really want people to enjoy the publication, you do have a bit of a responsibility to provide a reason. Unless you want to seem like one of those trash rags at the checkout stand-I presume not-this isn't the way to go about that. That's, again, constructive criticism from an actual subscriber, not a personal attack or an emotional rant.
  13. All of your replies, until this one, were just as negative. One can only guess you were scolded by those higher up than you within your company. You might want to rethink your approach if readers is what you're after here. You're going to garner even less of them by chastising others for doing the same thing you did, and are still doing. Passive aggressive behavior often gets the exact response you got. You should probably quit doing that. You may know your stats, but I know your publication as well and while I'm not going to judge it, it is hardly the top place people in SL go for news. That's a fact. It is not the preferred source of anything, that's just a flat out lie. It is a source, yes. It's your opinion that is is the best, or preferred, an opinion people would expect you to have. If I were the person in charge, you would no longer have a job after all of your posts, in particular this one. It's probably a good thing your boss is a lot more patient with you than most would be. Assuming this isn't the person in charge under a different name, that is. You're doing your company absolutely no good. You're not new to the forums so claiming that will only discredit anything you have to say. Nothing I've said is laced with anger, that's more emotional investment than I care to make. It's constructive criticism and considering the type of business you work for, you need to have a much thicker skin than you clearly do, to deal with it. Or they'll just find someone to replace you. Telling people to move on, when you clearly can't, won't help your case any.
  14. The resale rate on things isn't quite what you might expect it to be. Yes someone could, in theory, buy it and resell it at a profit. Some people do just that. Creators know this and take that into consideration when setting permissions. Not nearly as many people actually do this, as you think. Likely because someone can, very easily, find the same product they are selling, for less. There isn't as big of a market for resellers, anymore. They exist, but not on as large of a scale. The profit margin is still pretty slim for resellers in most areas. As for why the cost is different for copy/no trans, it is because that product can be rezzed as many times as you want. Let's say you own land and have rentals. You can buy furniture that is copy/no trans, once, and be able to rez it in every property you have. For some, that can be a lot of properties and a lot of use of that product, hence the higher cost. At least this is what some creators who use that perm have said is their deciding factor. There is also the whole, you won't lose the product because it's copy, so if something happens, you can rez a new one, factor. I'm sure there are other reasons as well. Merchants typically have a reason for the permissions they set. I am sure someone will come along with another reason, or two.

Someone bought something of mine just after I posted this anyway. I guess I spoke too soon and worried too quickly. I'm not sure which product you're referring to but you have absolutely NOTHING in your MP store you should be gearing to highschoolers. College aged, yeah, they're adults, but minors, absolutely not. Yes I am a realist and I know they buy them anyway, but for you to expect them is, disturbing.
  16. Chic Aeon wrote: So let's say I spent a month or more making a new sci fi avatar, head to toe, all mesh. I even made a matching AO with all new animations to fit the avatar. All the textures were from scratch. I made the avatar in Blender (so no shadowy illegal software even). I upload my avatar and it sells really well in world and on the Marketplace. Linden Lab sees this (we are still in a scenario here -- this has not happened) and decides to market the avatar through a high profile website. They sell the product that took a month of hard work to make. They get all the profits. They also potentially cut into my profits within SL. THAT is the potential problem. Ok that does help explain your position for me, thank you. I was, and always have been, under the impression that they could do this anyway. It's how I've always interpreted the TOS. That is likely the largest contributor to my confusion on the topic. I clearly minsinterpreted their TOS from day one, as I'd always thought what it says now, is what it has always meant. I just thought the verbage, like most from them, was very very vague, until now.
  17. Tali Rosca wrote: This change also effectively prevents almost all use of 3rd party textures, whether from CG Textures or any other library, paid or free, since those libraries almost never allow resale; something LL now demands that you give them the right to. (Credit to you for doing your textures 100% by yourself, but the use of a - often commercial - texture library is common in 3D modeling). This is not the same as LL "also has free use of those same textures they didn't create". They would have to obey the license of the library, just like everybody else. Ok I'm a bit confused on this part, if you could clarify, I'd appreciate that, the bolded part that is.Let me explain why I am confused though... This is just my opinion and of course, not fact, just how I am reading what you wrote. If the TOS of those sites have never allowed resale, those textures were already against that site's TOS before this change in Linden Lab TOS ever took place. Then once uploaded here, they were also against the TOS that existed here too, as the person did not have permission to use those textures in that manner based on the TOS they agreed to on the third party site. Uploading a texture into SL for your business, constitutes commercial use, and resale of that particular asset. Since people can, and do, use RL money to purchase those items you make, you will have broken the TOS of whatever site you got the assets from, if that site doesn't allow resale or commercial use. The change in Linden Lab TOS, does not change the TOS of that third party site, or the part of the TOS that states you must have rights to use those assets before you upload them. So is it the fact that Linden Lab can now resell the asset, or is it the fact that these sites don't want to allow any resale of those textures? I do believe the two go hand in hand, although I may be alone in that thought. As in, if there is a problem with allowing Linden Lab the ability to resale these textures, there ought to be a problem with allowing users(SL creators) to resale them in their products as well. This is part of what I am trying to understand, the difference between a customer on a third party site being allowed resale rights for SL and allowing Linden Lab that same resale right once the asset has been uploaded to SL.. That would, of course, only apply to the sites that do not permit resale or commercial use. I'm sure there are some without that sort of TOS. I hope no one thinks I was trying to knock people who do not create their textures from scratch, because I most definitely was not. Texture creation isn't all that easy, and I can fully understand why people use third party sites. I'm just a very finicky person when it comes to textures. That's why I do my own. I'm too nit picky about it. Also if it helps clarify, my understanding was that by uploading any asset into SL I am, was, allowing Linden Lab the right to resale/utilize in any way that would promote SL in any fashion. That would include avdertising, promotional events and things like the stuff they sell on Amazon, among other things I am sure. Although Amazon itself is not Linden Lab property, the assets they are selling there, are only for use within SL. I always thought the verbage was very vague to begin with, which is why I interpreted it the way I did, making it much more clear in my own head and covering all bases. This way I didn't upload something I didn't intend to share with anyone else. As Linden Lab has always, in my mind, had the ability to utilize my assets for such things. Entirely possible I've interpreted the TOS completely wrong since day one. I'm just trying to understand others' point of view on the matter. It's an interesting topic.
  18. Rya Nitely wrote: OK, I've done a quick scan back looking for the anger and frustration of which you speak, but I don't see it. Disappointment and concern yes, and that's to be expected, but no anger or frustration. I think people are rather calm about it, and some of us are just reassessing our options under the changed conditions. Many people, like myself don't have the skills to create textures from scratch. You are fortunate to be able to do that. I didn't necessarily mean anger was seen here in this thread. This isn't the only place it's been discussed. That's why I pointed out that I've seen it discussed elsewhere too. There are some people pretty angry about it out there.
  19. Ok, I am going to say this upfront, I am not trying to sound like an ass here, so please don't think I am. Sometimes I am an ass, and sometimes I am blunt, in this case it's more the latter. I would like someone, or a few someones, many even, to dumb this down for me as they see it. I have thoroughly read over the TOS numerous times, all of the TOS. I have also thoroughly read over this thread, and other sites where this has been or is being discussed. I'm still a bit muddled on the matter. As I am reading, both the actual TOS and people's interpretations of it, I am seeing people who are getting angry they can no longer use textures other people have made and upload them into SL. They can no longer do this, because they don't own the rights to do this. That's my simplistic version of what I have read. I'm not saying it's how things actually are, or whether or not I am spot on or a galaxy away on the matter. I don't see people who make their own textures from scratch getting angry though. In my case I have never built anything in SL using a texture I did not 100% create myself. So, that basic interpretation of what I have read, wouldn't affect me in any way. At least no different than any of the previous versions of the TOS did. I have always read that area of the TOS to say that Linden Lab is free to use whatever assets I upload as they see fit, and I need to be that assets creator/owner in order to upload it in the first place. I probably interpreted it wrong from day one. That's just how I always took it. I've never uploaded assets I wasn't willing to share with the world for this reason. So, I suppose what I am actually asking here, is does this sort of change affect primarily people who use textures or other assets they got from other sources, licensed or not, or ....? Yeah I can't finish that question, because some of the things I've read seem very muddled. I can understand why people are frustrated, to an extent. I can understand people who have been given license to use a specific texture, for example, as they see fit, who are now not allowed to because they aren't the actual copyright holder. At least I am trying to understand it anyway. I'm having a little bit of a hard time because I always thought these people never really had "ownership"(as someone already mentioned) of those textures/assets. I get the frustration about not being able to use those textures they have been given license to use-that part is clear. The part of the anger I don't get is where people are getting mad that now Linden Lab also has free use of those same textures they didn't create. If you didn't originally create it yourself, and have only been given license to use it but not ownership rights, what is there to be angry about that Linden Lab is covering their ass to make sure they too have that same license you do to use that texture? That's the part that may make me sound like an ass, I assure you, I'm not. I'm trying to simplify the thought process in my head though, not be a jerk or seem uncaring towards creators. I certainly don't want to seem like I am making light of an issue causing others concern, either. I have the utmost respect for most creators. I had a store for 6 years in SL, so I do, very much, understand frustration in general and the overall "You're a mean one, Mr Linden" feeling we have towards the lab at times, especially when they make changes we don't know about or changes that affect our bottom line(be it product bottom line, or pocketbook bottom line). I think it is my own interpretation of all the TOS versions we've ever gotten, that may be getting in my way of understanding this issue at it's base root. This is why I need it dumbed down, or at leat your point(s) of view explained. It may help others who are reading and have no idea in heck what people are talking about or why they're up in arms about this. Not everyone reading is a creator. Not everyone reading is someone who uses textures provided by another source, either. So not everyone will understand. I'm one of those people, though I do know how to create. I don't always understand the point of view another creator has. I'd like to understand.
  20. You can make it so only your friends can see you online, in preferences. Or you can uncheck the box by their name that allows them to see you online if it is your friends bugging you. Ignore ims you get that you dont want to answer. There is nothing unsafe about being im'd. Creepy perhaps, but they can't harm you. They can't do anything to you. You can mute/ignore anyone you don't want to hear from again. No one can see your friendslist. You can have plenty of time to yourself if you just ignore the people you don't want to pay attention to. They won't stop you from doing that, or having time to yourself.
  21. Go to edit your shape, or appearance(depending on your viewer). On the body tab there may be a slider at the bottom that says hover. If it's not at 50, change it to 50. That's usually the culprit for being underground. It can also cause you to knot up, scrunch up, turn yourself into a pixelated oddly shaped ball, etc...when you do go underground. If you don't have that slider, or that option, let people here know which viewer you are using, they can probably help you figure it out.
  22. AnnMarie Otoole wrote: Unfortunately, the dead vehicles stick in one spot like a sore thumb until removed. However compared to the overall picture they are an insignificant statistic. My alt visits about 50 sites that are or have been problem locations and clears about 25 dead vehicles a week. Perhaps other dedicated souls clear another 25 for 50 a week = say 250 a month. Out of 30 million sim crossings per month that is a darned good reliability. It is very rare that the landowner complains, in fact I contact them about the problem and they rarely respond. Those that do respond are typically willing to help. The ones that complain are on forums like this who are jealous of me using public facilities that we ALL pay for although it costs us nothing. I ran 1.5 to 2 sims for many years although I'm cutting back slowly and down below 1 sim now. That's why roads and public land was created, TO BE USED. LL should pay me for pioneering the addition of life to sims. As I get time I make changes at trouble spots to correct them but they actually go away by themselves, I suspect as regions move to new servers, only to appear somewhere else, perhaps when that region ends up on a suspect server? Why are so many people pissed off over some stuck vehicles that are not even on their land if the landowners don't care. Perhaps SL needs to create the FWPF, the Frustrated Would-be Police Force so they can wear a badge and arrest people. Hut hut hut, Get AnnMarie. ROTF. Grow up kids. You ma'am are a moron. There is nothing insignificant about your products causing a pileup where they don't belong. That is why you're equated with a griefer. You think everyone else needs to do your work for you and it's obnoxious at best. Maybe people care about land they don't own because they simply care. I know that's a difficult concept for you to understand, but it's true. I look after a friend's land now and again when he can't be in sl. I've had to remove your dumbass vehicles from his land too. By your logic, I shouldn't care, it's not my land. I DO care though. Do you really think people shouldn't care about the appearance of the land around them, at all? That's stupid. People in rl care as well, even in areas they don't own, don't live in and have no vested interest in. It's called respecting others, and respecting the world around you. Even if the world is imaginary, pixelated and not real, many people still care. I no more like going around mainland and finding huge fugly ass builds with ads on them or builds people put up to try and get others to move out, than I like seeing your vehicles. If I, personally, had a way to remove every single product you have ever created from the grid, I would do it in a heartbeat. I'd also ban your account as deep as I possibly could. You Are A Griefer. Plain and simple. The facts that you don't care, don't want to fix what's wrong, want everyone else to make your vehicles work properly(or fix them when they don't) and think all of the complaints and garbage your products create are insignificant tells us this. When even newbies know to avoid your vehicles, and get pissed off by them, there is clearly a problem. There is nothing special about being a household curse word, there really isn't. It's shameful you think otherwise. You think everyone else around you needs to grow up when it's clear to everyone around you, by your own words, that you have the immaturity of a very young teenager. It's your way, or no way. They're your products and you won't fix them. When they pileup, it's someone else's problem. When presented with a problem, you flip the feck out. That doesn't sound very grown up to me.
  23. AnnMarie Otoole wrote: I'm quite proud of the achievement and the notoriety I receive. I'm a household swear word the length and breadth of SL . When I started, the doomsayers said the Lindens would have to ban the unoccupied vehicles when the roads became clogged with traffic jams. LMAO, not a single competition for realistic vehicles on the roads in 5 years, where is everyone? Lets go for RL realism. Most griefers seem pretty proud of their notoriety and achievements as well. You have no "competition" because everyone on the grid, except you, realizes what a ridiculous product your cars are. I am going to venture a guess that you don't take into consideration the MANY vehicles that require someone to get in them to move them on their way. You count those as riders. In the technical sense, I suppose they are, they ride for mere seconds-or minutes if they really want your **bleep** out of their way, but it isn't to ENJOY the product. So, you're not adding any enjoyment. You add frustration. What separates you from a griefer? The answer is nothing. You do nothing to aid the problems your products create. You create huge problems on many sims the grid over. You annoy the crap out of people. You have absolutely, and show absolutely no concern for the questions, comments and problems people bring to you. You don't care that you are as much of a nuisance as any other griefer. You're actually proud that the only reason people know your name anywhere in sl, is because you annoy the living crap out of them, and piss them off. Yep, that makes you a griefer, in every sense of the word.

So your beef should be with third party viewers not sticking to the original formats. This in turn makes it impossible for TPV users to help new residents who come to SL because the buttons and format are not the same Seems like it is all your fault here lol Where the hell have you been? The OLD format you're spouting off about is the format the official viewer originally used. It wasn't magically created by the TPV developers. It's based off 1.23 viewer-which was the...gasp...official viewer. So the lab DID create the format. That makes this OLD format, ie the current format some TPVs allow, to be the "first" format. There is nothing outdated about it, I'm not even sure why you'd think that to begin with. They have since changed of course, as have the TPV, although some still offer the older and much preferred(by both old and new avs) layout. It's not actually true that the formats are entirely different, either. Some TPVs have formats similar to, if not identical to, the current official viewer. You'd have to actually use them all to know this though, which you clearly do not. The official viewers have been the least used viewers since 2009, only going down further and further, never going up. If that doesn't tell you people prefer the other formats, layouts and viewers, I'm not sure what will.
  25. I donj't think you should close your account either, but I understand why you want to. I've done that myself. Plenty of the people who have posted, or will post, have done that themselves too. You can always just let your account sit idle until you're ready to come back. It will be okay without you and you don't need to pay for a membership to allow it to do that either. I also understand just giving your linden away, I've actually done that too. I don't think very many people do, or ever would, but I have. It can be fun. Except I just did it randomly. My guess on what you have remaining $L6,000
