  1. Hi all. Been messing around on Blender and finally got the jist of texture working, adjustments, joining meshes and making sure to remove doubles.

I have been following the methods on rigging with automatic weight sharing on the basic SL rigged skeleton which i downloaded from their template page and did some basic rigging work. The mesh follows the skeleton when i use pose mode. The issue occurs when i upload it to SL, sorry about the amount of gyazo links also.

Here is the mesh with the skeleton in place. I am aware of the exposed faces which are glitching around, cleaned them last night, but the uploaded outcome made me quit in frustation.

and this is the issue when i upload it to SL with skin weights on show.

    Side note:

I did get the mesh made not in a T pose as a base, and i had to move the skeleton in place with edit mode to match the meshes shape:

I am unsure if me altering the skeleton is the cause of this issue. If it is, how would i got around to fixing the mesh to be in a tpose? as all parts are joined into a single mesh along with set UV's

    Thanks all.

  2. Hi all, this might be a dumb question but I am currently paying for L via paypal and have noticed it does not ask for any for of confirmation and simply buys said L in question.

I am wondering if this is only for my PC? Mostly asking because if i ever lose access to my account down the line, I want that added security that even though paypal is linked to the account, they would be unable to buy L on another system/device.

Or does this need to be toggled on paypals site itself?

    Cheers.

Sorry to be nitpicking, but ... same level or exactly the same version? :)

What is your friend's CPU, out of curiosity?

And... 20? 30 or 40? And just 10fps as a difference between shadows on and off? What draw distance are you running at? That'll be my first guess for such a low outcome.

Hi, sorry for the delay, my friend uses a i7-8700k We both used the same draw distance of 128, both on the latest release of Firestorm, and tested it with the same settings on the basic SL viewer. They still get higher FPS count even with Shadows on, (projectors) in this case, while I struggle to hit the same FPS even with shadows off.

Have you tweaked the settings with the NVidea Control Panel? You graphic card with high quality setting and for example 240 meters draw distance should easy do 60+ FPS in sims as for example Waterhead

Thanks for the info, sadly, I have not, As, i have no idea where to start with all that stuff, I can put the current settings here from the Nvidia control panel, what would you need to see, or, what shall i tinker with?

How do you define "lag" in your scenario?

Sorry for the delay, been a hectic week.

And well, As on my previous forum post, with the lag issue. I done a comparison test with a friend of mine. Same Sim, looking in the same direction with settings the same. Only difference they have is their CPU.

OS, GPU, RAM are on the same level. Yet, while i get around 20FPS without shadows etc. They hit 30FPS with shadows on, and, around 40 without shadows on.

  5. Well, I will tinker a bit more then, and see what I can do, as for some odd reason i still get lag whilst running on MED settings, on any viewer, FS, SL, Black Dragon, Sing.

I have done a health test, RAM, CPU, GPU are all in good condition.

Maybe the black boxes could be used to improve performance? :P

  6. Thanks for the replies, I will look into all this options and will update if needed. Right now im going to focus on updating/reinstalling windows 10 without the HDD plugged in and give it another test run and hope for the best.

I am wondering though, if a new Motherboard would be a good option for dual Graphic cards, the works.

  7. That might be the case, as the HDD was plugged in at the time, worst case, I will do a fresh install.

And for the dimensions,  the Heat sink port is a 4 pin connection, not sure on the 4 pins, but the current intel heat sink fan I am using is 9.2 x 9.2 CM Width and height. The current heatsink being used is this:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-Original-E97378-LGA1155-1156-Aluminum-E97378-Bulk/dp/B00NVMME58/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1525622626&sr=8-3&keywords=intel+e97378-001

  8. Yeah, that confused me as well, as it was a fresh install and everything was put onto that. Unless, its the fact I still have not cleaned the old hard-drive, and I am getting the

Pick what OS to boot on startup, on a windows 10 splash screen indicating both windows 10 and 7 are available.

But yes, I will work on the CPU heat sink, just need to find a good 4 pin connection CPU heat sink, possibly with a fan/quiet when idle running as much current still makes a noise when the PC is idle.

((Side question: Would overclocking be worth it at all? As it seems my PC would be able to have some leway with Overclocking, of course, after the CPU is sorted out))

  9. Hi all, just got myself a 1070TI and still got some money to spend, so wanting to see what I should upgrade next.

    Currently, I am running:

    GPU: GeForce Nvidia 1070ti

    RAM: 16GB ram (2x 8GB sticks in 2 ports)

    CPU: Intel i7 4790 (8CPUS)

    DAC - Intergrated RAMDAC

I will also link this benchmark test which shows off all my hardware I am currently using so you can grasp more information than me typing out everything in a DX diag. It is a bit old, so i will explain the edits as well to it: http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/8530914

(EDITED BENCHMARK: THIS IS THE NEWEST RESULT: http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/8819520 )

Now using a SSD 250GB Samsung drive. along with the HDD shown in the benchmark.

And I have upgraded to windows 10 64 bit Enterprise

I am wondering if i need to upgrade my CPU, or RAM, yet a friend told me the CPU might be the better option if I were to upgrade to a I7-8700k or higher, yet, a I7-8700k would fit my price range better.

    Thanks for any input :)

  10. Hi all, just a quick question on my CPU temp when running SL when I can get it working on good days while I wait for my replacement parts as mentioned in a previous post.

I have just done a deep PC clean, using my air compressor wondering if it was the CPU's fan which was blocked with dust.

I am running 4 fans, one on the back, 2 on the front, and one on the side. The 2 front and side are intakes, the back is the rear exhaust fan.

    My Current cooler is an "Intel Original E97378 LGA1155/1156 Aluminum/Copper CPU Heatsink, P/N # E97378 "

when running secondlife, i hit temperatures of 46C When in my skybox, but in sims with more than a simplistic skybox I hit around 64C (With shadows on, I hit 70C)

I hit these temperatures before cleaning along with hitting the same after cleaning, I took off the CPU fan when cleaning and made sure it was correctly installed.

The Thermal paste was very dry, so, would it be a safe bet that i need to replace the thermal past, or, is the fan for the CPU not a good fan in general.

On a side note, I did stress tests with Prime 95 and running ARK *the game*

    Results as as such:

Prime 95, 8 agents running, I hit 75-85 C on the CPU with all fans running

ARK on high, the CPU hits a 70C  with all fans running, 80C with the intake fans on the front off.

  11. @Lillith Hapmouche

Thanks for the info, I am hoping windows 10 sorts it out for me, i have ordered the kit none the less for the SSD, new Hard-drive for steam and the works, along with better cables as you suggested and a mounting rack (As i have no spare racks in my case)

My draw distance depending on the sim i normally adjusted myself. But, average its around 120 (now using the lowest draw settings now and again) and i do use the inbuilt presets and advanced settings to reduce the FPS loss. With some minor improvements here and there.

The home sim is also like this, pondering finding a new parcel in the hopes that lowers it down, even though I am normally only there for unpacking items and idle chatter.

After doing a defrag and sort files using iobit smart defrag, the issue has seemingly lowered slightly, but is still somewhat noticeable. Plus, the SMART check has gone from 24 bad sectors, to 30.

  12. Ok, i have checked the performance monitor, using 1% of my CPU usage

When i go into Resource monitor, my overview is as such:

1% CPU usage average without SL running - 101% Maximum Frequency

Memory is using 29% used Physical Memory.

The stay the same even after a fresh reboot.

I have checked all the processes inside the manager, and nothing is taking up a huge average. So i am wondering if it is the hard-drive in general. I have included a hard-drive scan also:

    https://gyazo.com/89e69b12e798b14a6827a9ed65713864

    The program also states:

    Current pending sector count: 24

    Un-correctable sector count: 24

((EDIT: When using a SL viewer, the CPU goes up to 3))

  13. Thank you for getting to me. Sorry in advance currently replying from a mobile device as I'm away from the computer.

I forgot to mention I did some stress tests while I used a program to watch the hardware and it's usage and temps. Everything temperature was was perfect without anything being stressed or over heated from the abuse ( I ran SL on max and low, along with multiple benchmarking tools, I know SL is not like any other game, but, wanted to see if there were any issues) I had no issues at all with the results it provided.

Also, I used crystalDiskInfo, and it states the hard drive has 24 unidentified errors which can't be fixed, so, I'll try a chkdsk, worst case, I'll do as you said and move to an SSD. I presume I can get myself another hard drive for my steam games and save data, and use the SSD for my OS, SL and cache etc?

Also, I'm directly plugged into the main router. Drawing download speeds of 100MBPs. On the viewer I have set the internet speed to 1000-1500 (as I know exceeding 1500 can cause issues, I think)

Also, my monitors are both connected into the GPU slots. One HDMI adapted to a display port. And the one I use for SL is a direct HDMI connection on a 2560 x 1080 monitor. I play second life windowed as I tab out a lot when using second life.

But, yes, I plan on upgrading to Windows 10, my friend works In IT and has said they can get me a copy of the Windows 10 key for free as they have copies to spare and if I can use steam strictly on my hard drive and everything else on SSD I will get one of the cards you mentioned.

Once more, thanks again, and sorry if I missed anything and my terrible formatting due to being on my phone.

((adding this as an edit: Replacing the Hard-drive with another, and getting that SSD: https://gyazo.com/1652dc359bbba52473b0ad1023202a34 Is this a good combo? I've checked and i know my system will be able to use both at once))

  14. Hey all, I need a hand for those with more tech knowledge than myself. Recently I have been getting some lag when entering new sims, even with my graphic settings on the lowest of low. In which, when doing so, other programs seem to be affected with weird halting and lag issues. Chrome would take forever to load a webpage while secondlife is running, windows dictionaries would also take time to load the folders inside along with files.

I will include my PC specs on the bottom of this post.

Things I have attempted to fix this issue:

    - Trying low and high settings along with messing with the advanced section.

    - Using different viewers, all seem to have the same issue

    - Clean installing viewers

    - cache clearing, the works.

    - Windows updates are currently up to date

    - All Graphic card drivers and other drivers are up to date

    - (Currently) Defragging my Hard-drive which was at a 7% Fragmentation rate (Using Smart defrag, 1/4 into the scan, 24GB of fragmented files, est: 100GB est)

    SPECS:

    Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz

GPU - NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1070 ti

    DAC - Intergrated RAMDAC

    RAM - 16GB DDR3

OS - Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit (planning on getting 10 in time, budgeting right now)

    HARD-DRIVE - 2TB Seagate (2 years old)

I have included this link, a UserBenchmark of my system: http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/8530914

    Thanks for any help

((PS: Was reading up about getting a small SSD for the OS and main dictionaries, yet, im lacking knowledge on this matter))

  15. Sorry for the delay everyone, was unable to reach to PC for some time, I recently went back to blender to update you lot.

I used a smart unwrap before, but, when doing it this time, it also did the same thing. But, when i used an older version of blender on my laptop, the unwrap went perfectly. So, I am unsure of what went wrong.

Sorry once more for the delay in a reply, and thanks for all the input.

  16. Hi, me again.

Small issue, last one, promise. Ha, I know how to unwrap, but, this struck me as odd. When i unwrapped my object I got a square, with a circle in it. This also happens on basic cubes when spawned in, not sure how to fix this issue.

Thanks for any help in advance

  17. Hey there,

Thanks for the quick reply, I just did what you said and now it seems to be showing up when rezzed, plus, the Prim count has gone way down. No idea what was going on, but, I shall keep these useful tools in mind for next time.

    Thanks again for the help!
