  1. Seems like a texture loading issue, have you tried refreshing your cache? It can be either your cache, internet connection or VRAM capacity issue
  2. Show the before and after look of your avatar after you take off your mesh head and body! c= It can be either pictures or videos, it can be hilarious Edit: Picture for those who prefer pictures
  3. To be human is for one to adhere to certain values which can be summarized as preference and priority for the maximization of preferred existential variables and minimization of undesired existential variables, while negatively impacting others' preference as little as possible Humanism is a set of values, if one holds these values then they are human by definition regardless of who or what they are
  4. Some creators and people are gathering to rez their Gacha items to remember the "fun times" c= gachas are personally not my thing but interesting to see some people see gachas are fun
  5. I'm worried about how it will affect SL's economy, like about 20 minutes after the announcement I got a group chat linking to the announcement, and someone was saying how gachas are they main source of income on SL, I'm sure that's also true for many merchants. I know exchange and cashout fees are not SL's main sources of revenue but it might trickle down to those as well, as there would be less people who are able to buy lands or get premium if they can't adapt. I'm sure LL and the merchants have their ways to deal with the possible negative impacts though c=
  6. I thought about this, possibly after someone mentioned it - but the thing is, it will only be useful to existing SL users who want to get on SL while on the go, which is good for those people. But having proper Android / iOS viewers would be more useful in term of reaching out to new people since most people won't get Steam Deck just to get on SL, and those who did get Steam Deck to game won't suddenly get on SL because they got a Steam Deck, they would've gotten on SL on PC to begin with if they're interested in SL
  7. An acquirement by FB is unlikely considering how little SL is making compared to FB, they'd be more worried about possible "bad PR" from acquiring something like SL which, even though it has toned down over the years, would be re-amplified by the media if FB acquires SL That is, unless, someone over at FB really sees the merit in the SL model and value the experiences of the people running SL, as well as SL's brand name, and believe that they can be upscaled with their capital (something that I and a lot of other pro-SL people believe as well) If a buy offer does come, the outcome will most likely depends on whether or not Waterfield think they can get more money by keeping SL, or by selling it to Facebook Either way, whether you believe SL is better off not being owned by Facebook, or being owned by Facebook and possibly improve using their wealth and reach (FB do a lot of ethically questionable things but to be fair the IPs they bought do tend to thrive) the continued existence of SL as we know it rest on; Our ability to demonstrate how the foundational values of the SL model is upscale-able in term of UVP and profit Our willingness to see and accept that SL doesn't exist in a vacuum, and how SL is presented will ALWAYS, even if only subconsciously, be compared to contemporaries, details matter If those two things can be tackled, no matter who or what owns SL, it will thrive
  8. Watched the whole thing, it is a pretty typical but fair take on Second Life when judged or viewed from tech/game/internet culture-savvy audience. I'm still certain there are ways that SL can be perceived more favorably by that kinda audience without sacrificing or compromising what SL is or reducing its appeal to its core audience. I know it can be done, hopefully LL can do it right. I think the problem is in the past LL higher ups might look at something like this, but because they think very differently from the aforementioned audience since they have very different mindset and frame of references in mind, they translate the feedbacks to actions or creative decisions that they think would address the perception issue from said audience but only made it worse Newer people who are at the operational helm of SL (like how Ebbe was, rest in peace) seem to be more perceptive and more in-touch with modern internet culture however, so I'm hopeful c=
  9. That's very understandable Storii, but you don't have to necessarily "advertise" for SL to help SL c= and not necessarily by bringing people who know you mainly in the physical world as well
  10. Ah! I thought you were talking about what I said in this thread, yeah having the UI cleaner certainly helps with immersion c=
  11. It took me some time to process his passing, it was a really heartbreaking news, and I really couldn't believe it when my friends told me what happened, even after I put out my condolences on Twitter it still felt surreal, he was just there like the other day and this all feels so sudden. Ebbe once said in an interview how much he values freedom of expression and that he's against banning Residents as much as he can, liking it to a death penalty, when pressed by the interviewer about aspects of moderation in Second Life. That to me along with many of the things he said and did for Second Life cemented his place in my mind as a great leader for LL / SL who helped many of us believe that there is a human aspect in everything. But only in his passing did it hit me how good of a man he was, rest in peacce Ebbe
  12. There are certain subsections of the gamers crowd who find the concept of SL fine as it is, or even very desirable. But yeah hopefully SL will be perceived more positively in the coming years
  13. I have the same experience with trying to get my friends to try SL Istel, the idea of SL appeals to certain kinds of people and I mostly try to get SL exposed to those who will be helped most by it these days c=
  14. What you said is also presumptuous, there are many examples where users manage to substantially help or salvage an IP by voicing or expressing their feelings about misinformation And what I'm proposing has little to do with actually contacting people about their "misinformed content about SL" and more about being more proactive in showing its positive aspects
  15. Well obviously, but it also depends on the end user whether or not they think SL is worth saving or preserving that they would go way and beyond in trying to do so, just because certain people think it's not doesn't mean it applies to everyone
  16. I'll Google what Avon is : P and whether or not what I'm doing is me attempting to "sucker others in" to you is based solely on your perception, as much as I'm concerned we have something worthwhile to try and save here in SL Edit: It's a cosmetics brand?
  17. I see, I think that's why we should try our best to make SL even better so Sid and others like Sid would believe in it again! c=
  18. What MLM jargon? o: And I read all the replies, and take them into consideration c= however there is nothing in those replies which convinces me that what I'm proposing nor my actions would be detrimental to my goals, it is an equation in which there can only be an increase in leaning toward the positive values of my predefined parameters of objectives
  19. There is a difference between not acknowledging certain facts and not letting them affect your actions in ways that are detrimental to your goals! c= I appreciate you being a contrarian to what I say as it reveals the antithesis of my ideals which can then be further explored, however I feel a proper rebuttal of my statements would be much more contributive
  20. They will be returned to you if you have autoreturn turned on when you abandon c= not sure if you need autoreturn turned on when you abandon though, because I've seen abandoned lands with autoreturn turned off and there are stuff in those places, but maybe those are just from people putting stuff in afterward
  21. All those tired stories of failure and disappointment people outside tell of Second Life, they are like fairy tales written and believed by people who either don't care, have given up or want the Metaverse brought to them on a silver platter They are not true, they ground the vision of the Metaverse down to the absolute absence of ambition, girth and dedication required to truly realize such a huge ideal. We are all better off scrubbing the memories of what they said from our mind From Second Life's "alternatives" and whatnot, you've seen what to come with the absence of ideals and a proper understanding of the heart of this whole endeavor, it's a reality in which dreams and hopes of the Metaverse are replaced by bitterness and heartless superficial appeals to its lowest common denominator
  22. Remember guys with enough effort and strong enough vision which is both bold and appealing, any unfavorable notion of objective technical reality can be sidelined and overcome by an unstoppable snowball of constructed reality which if it gets big enough will have enough momentum to bring the necessary technical change c= These doubts we have amount to no net positive gain
