  2. 7 Pages, 25 online I talk to half of them at least once a week, even if its just to say howsa you. Never remove a friend unless they have thoroughly earned it (2 so far) Found out last night that one of my best friends passed away a few days ago, sent her emails, fearing the worst only to open her profile and see a RL death notice. I sit in our living room and look at the gift she gave me for my wedding, its a beautiful sculpt and its no trans, so returning it will mean it is gone forever...like she is. R.I.P. Skye.Foden Hold onto your true friends, you only get so many, even here.
  3. I think that perhaps we have both been guilty of being too vehement in our opinions. I still maintain that there is nothing s1utty about that gown. However that does not mean that we cannot agree on certain things. Believe it or not, I agree and support what you do in your RL and I wish you the best. I don't really want to derail this thread so I will leave the rest of my comments for another thread, good luck to you and see you around.
  4. Pussycat Catnap wrote: Actually I have known quite a few prostitutes, and even more human trafficking victims. They don't dress the way folks think they do. Its a pretty miserable existence too - but that's beside the point. There's a look, trampy or oversexualized. And that is the look most of us gather the OP is trying to avoid. As the OP used a euphamism and not a laundry list we can't be sure, but I would be quite suprised if they wanted something so sexualized as that gown. I am afraid that is a matter of opinion, and mine differs from yours. I have folders full of outfits that are far more revealing than that gown and I fail to understand why you find it 'sexualized'. The shop I bought it from specializes in haute couture and is very pricey and I think that if I had to tell the customers and the store owner that people here consider her creations 's1utty' they would be mortified. So for your benefit and those nay sayers that have nothing better to do than poke holes in what I and others think is a gorgeous and classy evening gown I will post this. Just keep in mind that there are far far far more s1luttyier outfits than the one I posted. You seem to have zeroed in on my post and have ignored my original intent, to mention a shops that I enjoy shopping at for everyday outfits as well as more formal attire. I feel that it is not really the dress that you dislike but me. Kastle Rock Eloquence Teal mesh There's a whole world of potential looks between 'burqa / nunlike' and 'trampy' - two looks that Goreans should be familiar with since those are their only choices when in that RP. Wrong, there are shops full of different looks for the different cultures of Gor. Please don't make assumptions. I doubt the OPs conception was so narrow as 'prostitute'. Personally I gathered they meant the larger view of over-sexualized. I'd gather they wanted to look "normal." Most of us are not Paris Hilton or a Kardashian, and so wouldn't want to be in that dress even at a formal ball. Save for maybe the 'Exotic Erotic Ball' in San Francisco... Your world, your way, If you are here to mirror your RL exactly then good luck to you. I fear that were everyone like you SL would be very dull place indeed. Most fashion shops would have to shut their doors. Indeed why have SL at all, surely RL is far more important and well..Real? I love dressing up occasionally RL and SL and going to glamorous venues with my man. SL gives me more opportunity to do so and shops with period pieces like Rag Dolls are always fun. Why do you want to stop me having my own fun my way and perhaps sharing it with others? Here is something like what I would wear on an average day in SL at my 'job' at the Adult Hub Kennedy's quick jeans, :{MV}: broody mesh pullover, JRC bangles, hair by Damselfly *** As to topic, here's a combo I've put together from a coldlogic top and a skirt from 'Etchaflesh'. Second shop is borderline-fetish in much of its inventory, but has nice versions of this common mesh skirt. - There's a whole world of SL beyond the sexualized side of things. Equally is there a whole world of SL beyond neko. I could make the same assumptions you have made about gor and BDSM with neko, but I don't. I know that for every generalization there are many exceptions. People are people, you get bad eggs everywhere, no matter your race, gender, language or interests. ETA Your condescending post is something that bugs me about these forums. Do you honestly think I don't know what to wear to the shops or to a business meeting in RL? Transference and assumption. You assume everyone is the same as you, transfer your values to everyone and think everyone should think like you. Well here's some news, no they do not. You took the tone of this discussion from a friendly swapping of favorite shops to a cat fight, because you don't approve of my taste in formal wear? Who in the hell made you the fashion police? Sometimes I think I am just too nice with people.
  5. Pussycat Catnap wrote: Go to a 9-5 office job in that dress. Walk down a street in it. And yeah, read the first post again... Its not designed to be worn on the streets or in an office, like Czari mentioned before, gowns are meant to be worn ballroom dancing or at a jazz club. both those venues are valid to the OP. Last time I checked you don't wear jeans and a tank top to Franks place or the RL equivilent in your city/town when you are out with your partner. Let me put it to you another way. You are going to a jazz club with your partner, he has hired a limo and he wants to show you a lovely evening. You want to look your best for him and are prepared to spend a bit to look awesome. What do you wear?.. A burka? or do you go shopping for something that is sexy and shows a bit but is still quite modest and classy? For me that is one of my favorite gowns and I would not have a problem wearing it out for a romantic evenings dancing and whatever with my man. I have done so in the past in RL and I will do so again with similar gowns (If not quite so elaborate). Some girls are dressy, *shrugs I happen to be one of them. Showing a bit of leg does not mean you are a **bleep**, here is a link you might want to see. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/20/slutwalk-united-states-city_n_851725.html ETA, You need to reread the OP, I don't know many hookers, but I seriously doubt they would wear a gown like that.

All three deserve a mention here. This gown is from Utopia. *looks at pic* Err...I think you need to read the first post again. Well if that gown is "s1utty" then probably your idea "Modest" is a burka. Perhaps it is the AO is was using, I also had to rush because halfway through my home sim went into restart. That gown is art, it shows just enough leg on the side to be provocative without being 's1lutty'. This is not Gor, no one is going to collar me because I show a bit of leg...oh wait, I'm already collared *grins and winks @ Perrie Those outfits are quite specialized, but IMO over the top and quite old. Here is what some free women are wearing in Gor nowadays
  7. Nice thread, so many shops to explore :smileyhappy: Nobody has mentioned Snowpaws, Kastle Rock, or Utopia. All three deserve a mention here. This gown is from Utopia.
  8. Yes, me to Czari, got this message. Hello Dear Something sparked my interest in you! Could we make a closer acquaintance? here is my contact address <email adress> Thanks! <Resident>
  9. Hi there Wonderings. I also joined in May, but luckily enough I found a mentor and more importantly a reason to stay, ...my partner. I remember all to well those first few weeks and yes it is intimidating at first. You are not alone and my advice to you is to try again and this time find a new persons area that can help you. There are the basics to learn, but if you have a little bit of time and are prepared to learn a few things that seem backwards at first, then the rewards are a rich immersive experience with so many different things to explore. The basics of your avatar are available for free, I would recommend The Adult Hub central ( If you have adult content enabled) or failing that the new persons areas on the destinations tab. I would also recommend joining a few freebies groups, hunts, lucky boards and midnight manias. It will take some time but in a few days you should have a good looking customized AV Yes it does get easier with time, after a month or two you should be far more confident and know your way around. SL is complex and what worked for me was to learn a bit every day, I am still learning and I think most people are. SL is not static environment, it changes all the time, things move quickly here and most experiences are available. As for your question on creating fashion, I to want to learn that and while I have considerable experience in photoshop the implementation still evades me, perhaps others here might be able to answer you better. I am inworld most days and please feel free to IM me, Good luck and have fun :smileyhappy:

Thanks to the alpha layer and the set size of the mesh, she is now the same size as everybody else that wears that jacket. Even if she is not pregnant, she has a quite oglistic size bust (not one of those "over the top and beer bottle holding protuding" ones). She has troubles in sculpted clothing already, but that is usually atleast resizable to a point. Her curves are part of her. *grins I remember from when I was SL pregnant, I would change into my moon elf AV and my hubby would say things like " Poor Paul he is so squashed, he will never be the same again" *laughs
  11. HoC also released a gorgeous pleated mini in mesh recently, with a texture hud, for 175$ I think, might be 195$, can't remember, but its great value either way.
  12. Charolotte Caxton wrote: Oh great, thanks. I am actually doing the Womenstuff Hunt. You should demo a Happy Undead skirt, secret tip, they are modify so if you get a white one you can tint it any color you want, but they have different styles too. I like them because they come in many different sizes and you cannot see the alpha when worn. Yes I got one to, love the way the fabric moves with the hips..... meh, need to get the white one now as well, thanks for the tip Charolotte :smileyhappy: , BTW there is a free one at the door in turquoise.
  13. Phil Deakins wrote: I can't claim to know what contest you are all talking about, because I've no idea, but, judging by the posts in this thread, I have to say that, since it's an LL run thing, you can't really expect it to be run sensibly, fairly, or in any way with any consideration to users/customers. I agree Phil, it seems to have been directed with mushroom management in mind, IMO its unacceptable that decisions were made without any explanation from whoever is in charge. While I enjoy my experience inworld and here on the forums and find the forums a useful place, if you forget the basics of communication, threads with issues like this one are bound to occur. Simple stuff really.
  14. Charolotte Caxton wrote: I don't think the contests are based on quality, but rather on popularity. My assumption was that the top contenders were removed for accusations of alt voting, how they could prove that I have no idea. A little speculative thinking, is there no way to track alts via IP?. I am aware of the old "red zone" fiasco and a guy I know claims to have a way to track alts that has nothing to do with a viewer. Surely the forums could track alts with just a little effort? Also the prize money, while a lot inworld, is hardly spectacular in RL terms, I spend more a week on my hair. If people are indeed 'cheating' to win with things like proxy servers then those people are quite pathetic, but I hope not. (both my entry and the vote it got are still there) ETA BTW lovely picture CiaoBella

Something about roasting on an open fire... but he says thank you for the nutty offer. You might want to spread the word amongst the chipmunks that the bounty has been raised by LL, live capture preferred, no disintegrations, If he is not produced forthwith all chipmunks and other furies will be considered fair game. oh yes and "your nuts or your life" isnt going to work this time. This is going to hurt you more than its going to hurt me anything else? oh yes You should also tell him his campaign was well executed, LL should be asking him for pointers, put him in charge of marketing.
  17. /me thinks about selling black market tickets to the big launch, 5000L cheap!

  22. Susan *smiles, no its from an European fashion guide for summer 2012, its RL, not SL, but it caught my eye. I think its the combination of shades that I found compelling. It really is a wonderful look and has a touch of 70s to it. I was hoping that the designers here in SL that are usually so astute had made it in mesh. There is a formal gown in the same magazine that I have seen reproduced by snowpaws, I suppose I was hoping for a similar result for this outfit, but making it in mesh may be a grand idea. Then the colour combinations are only limited by imagination. Love the look.
  23. Maeve Balfour wrote: You could try looking through Meli Imako's store. She sells merchant mesh clothing kits of good quality, for refreshingly reasonable prices. I've seen a skirt suit similar to the one you pictured, and being a full perm kit, you could use the UV templates supplied to create something very similar to this. A simple AV painted top for underneath the jacket would get a pretty close likeness. EDITED TO ADD: Just did a quick search for it. LINK HERE. Only 300L for a full perm kit, so a bargain for personal customisation. Of course, get the demo version to check for fit first (just like for any mesh clothing). Oh, and for the record, I'm NOT affiliated with Meli in any way. She just makes nice stuff :matte-motes-smile: Thank you very much Maeve, 300L is not bad at all, never thought of doing it myself, sounds like fun :cathappy:
