  1. By linking I mean attaching, sorry. What I'm trying to upload is a chain of sorts. I've uploaded one chain, and attached the parts together just fine. The second one, (a different style than the first) doesn't seem to be working well though. If I don't attach the parts together, the chain links are too small to upload into SL without them ending up enlarged and deformed.
  2. Thank you for the reply. I've uploaded some things in the past. I use 3ds Max, and I do use DAE format. I can get the item to upload sometimes when it's unlinked together. But once I link it within 3ds max, it seems to just freeze or just not load when I try to upload it.
  3. So I've been trying to upload a model for a while now. I've tinkered around with the model itself, thinking that I didn't export it right. I did get it to finally load once, but it was just a replica test model and I didn't really want that model in particular to be uploaded. I was wondering if there are any methods to reduce crashing, and actually get the models to load. I can't seem to get them to the point where I can see their preview picture. Either it crashes or it does nothing, and I just have to manually close it. Is there a lag-free viewer? A lag free sim? A grid that's directly related to SL? Anything that will make uploading mesh crash less? I use the default viewer for uploading mesh. I was wondering if there is anything better? And if not, what's the closest alternative to something better?
  4. My issue here is those horizontal lines on part of the model. Ideally the texture should be a bunch of square boxes spread across the model. As you can see, those horizontal lines are a problem. I used SL viewer to upload the model and used Firestorm to texture it. The bottle is a lathed model that I created using 3ds Max. Anyone have any solutions? Please let me know n.n
  5. Yeah it worked with the original Viewer Thanks for the info n.n! I might have to get another viewer or something. I'm quite relieved that it wasn't a problem with my upload, I was about to get really discouraged. Thank you n.n
  6. I'm using firestorm. I'll try logging in another viewer and see if it helps.
  7. I uploaded a model and it worked fine for a few days. When I attached it today, the model dissappeared and turned into a sphere-like invisible object that can not even be seen when holding CTRL + ALT + T. It was only a few pieces of the model that disappeared, the rest of the mesh on the model remained in-tact. So it can't be a mesh-disabled viewer error.
  8. The first picture is how it is supposed to look. That is what I exported the model as, but when it gets uploaded into Second Life, the object deforms like the second picture. The strange thing is it only did it with the rings, I mirrored the other object just fine. I've tried using both Mirror and symmetry. I've even detached the polygons so that they become their own object, but it seems even when I do that, the mirrored ring is still linked to its original. Does anybody know how to either fix this upload problem? Or tell me a way I can fix this in 3ds Max before I export it?
  9. It's a recent issue I've been having. It happens when I get teleported anywhere or travel to different sims. My avatar just collapses when I arrive, and I have to stop all animations. I know the solution to unbreak the AO, but I'm looking for a way to prevent it to keep breaking when I enter a new sim. I have Firestorm, and it's an old AO that used to not have that problem. I even unboxed a new one, but am still getting the same issue. SOLVED: I had an animation in my collar that was causing me to lay down any time I switched sims. When the collar was off, I no longer had the problem.
