  1. Thanks, Ry0ta but it wasn't those ones In actual fact, the one I'm seeking wasn't actually named after Devon Aoki, it just looked somewhat like her. Thanks for trying to help me though!!
  2. Hi Melita... thanks for digging up my slightly ageing thread here - I'm still hopeful of tracking this down, but... maybe it's even gone. The time when I roughly remember seeing this store, and buying a few small items, in my previous avie, would have been early 2011 / late 2010... so no more than two years ago and likely less. Also just noticed that I had part of the avie description as "corners-turned-down", but I have just added in that that was the mouth I was talking about. Actually, since I have been back in SL I have noticed that there are various other skin/shapes for sale which have that pouty look now, so I think that lady started something. But honestly, none of them come close to the arrogant beauty of the avie I am trying to find
  3. I have had ongoing experience with OnDuty going back to 2008 in previous avatars. As far as I am concerned, they are a bunch of griefers, and I'm about ready to AR them and see what happens. The difference with Bloodlines is that they do provide - totally free - their 'garlic necklace' for people to opt out. OnDuty provides nothing of the kind. If some dillbrain with an OnDuty happens to squirt his stuff and you didn't realize what a useless piece of el-cheapo (free!) equipment he was using cos you weren't paying enough attention, you end up pregnant as per their system. Sure, you can then choose to ignore it; but you do remain registered in their system forever as a pregnant avatar in the same way as a bitten avatar remains in the Bloodlines system unless they use the garlic necklace. On principle this should not be allowed in SL, and OnDuty should be closed down or required to introduce a free opt-out system for avatars who don't want to be part of their money-spinning racket. Intelligent comment welcomed. People who want to roll their eyes and decry SLsex as a joke, please spare us your shallow, self-serving platitudes.
  4. A couple of questions about terraforming for beginners if I may: - What are the best guides to terraforming tools and techniques? - Is there an in-world group for terraforming advice? - Specifically right now, is there an 'undo' tool? A friend has used 'revert' without understanding it and has ended up with the Himalayas on their land! :) I guess this puts it back like the previous landowner had it. - Is there a way to return all the parcel to dead flat original form with a few simple moves? Any help appreciated!
  5. Thanks for the suggestion, Theresa. It wasn't that store though I have a slight feeling the store name or the sim might have a name beginning with 'I' (that's the letter after 'H' in case it's not clear whether that a number or a letter!)... but I may be remembering wrong. Like a needle in a haystack really
  6. I am trying to track down a small boutique skin store which I knew in SL in the days of my first avatar, before I foolishly deleted everything. I believe it was run by a Russian lady, or maybe from another eastern European country?? The store was beautifully done in the form of a couple of rustic country sheds, one higher up the hill and larger, with a smaller shed / building lower down. When I knew it the landscape was done in snowy winter theme. She sold some quite unique items, including the skin she wore herself which to be honest looked something like the model Devon Aoki, with a very pouty, mouth corners-turned-down look (I have seen that look emulated a lot since I have returned to SL though) but without Devon's freckles and I think more tanned than her natural look. She also sold other items, and also hair. If anyone can help me with identifying this store or its owner I would be truly grateful. Of course, it may be gone - it was more than a year ago.
  7. This thread is a few months old now, but actually no-one has so far mentioned an ideal source of information on places to sail: I'm not in-world right now so I can't give more precise guidance; but... * search for Tradewinds Yacht Club * near the landing point you will find a small cabin with many items inside for sale * on the floor near the corner which was nearest to where you landed, you will find several free items, including two sets of landmarks / maps and other information giving a whole range of launching and sailing locations. One is called Om's list (this is an old original list of many launch points, some of which may not exist any more); the other is a more elaborate set of maps and notecards containing locations. This is much more current and seems likely to be updated in the future too * there are also a number of free boats available in this cabin - wonderful people are prepared to let us get started by trying out the results of their work There's also a good article on the Wiki at http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Sailing_in_Second_Life and some items in the Destinations guide at http://secondlife.com/destinations/sailing Have fun!
  8. Okay!! I finally found it... and it did include the word 'meadow' (as per my Edit to my first post). It's called Midsomer Meadows. Just do a 'Places' Search and you'll find it. The two highlights for me are the upper and lower dance floors - send me and in-world IM and I'll happily send you the exact LMs for those if you're interested! Other than that, just fly around and enjoy the place. And I think Estate Sun is permanently set to sunset, at least it was when I visited just now.
  9. Oh... hee hee, yes... I wondered if that's what you had thought; but no, it was just me being crazy! Thanks for your good wishes, and who knows... maybe someone will recognize the place I'm talking about.
  10. <giggle> The Big Purge was just me deleting my account and vowing that I had put SL behind me forever. I lost hundreds of RL dollars invested in my avie and all kinds of gear she owned, so as I am gradually rebuilding I now know that in future, if ever I need to take a break, I will do just that, and keep my account for when I *will* come back. I've learned now that I will never truly and forever leave SL. Thanks for being interested, Jeanne. And it's breaking my heart that I can't yet find my way back to the magical dance place I used to go to. <sigh> I had even taken my profile picture there, against this unbelievably beautiful backdrop of sunset and flowers.
  11. When I was in SL previously (before the Big Purge... omg, never again!) I used to love visiting a location which I'm hoping still exists and someone can point me to, please: It was a dance floor, quite elevated above the ground level (though not a sky platform) which had a sort of Greco-Roman style to it with balconies and columns, I think it had a couple of levels in itself; and then there were other dance floors at ground level (well, at least one) and I remember this most magnificent curtain of flowers by that ground-level dance floor. Also, there were romantic locations for lovers, including some inside little skyboxes (not far above the ground though). And I remember the place had perpetual sunset (or sunrise, but I somehow think it was sunset). Not sure if that's enough to identify it, and if it still exists... but I yearn for that place since returning. Please point me there if you can :) Edit: Hmmmm... I have a slight feeling the name of the place might have included the word 'meadow'... but maybe not... that may be a clue or a distractor! But I mention it just in case...
