  1. Hello everyone. I thknk I might be having some problems with normals? I'm trying to bake ambient oclusion onto my mesh and some parts of it get a strange grainny effect. Also, the effect isn't confined to one full face of the mesh, it goes through (as if painted on). Not sure what this is.

    Distorted Mesh?

Hi Gaia. No, the avatar I'm building is not from avastar. I'm only using the avastar skeletton for rigging. The mesh avatar I modeled from hand.
  4. Hello everyone. I don't have that much experience with photoshop, so I'd thought I'd come here for a bit of help. I want to create a seamless, high-res (if possible) texture of a pique fabric. You see, I made a mesh shirt in blender based on one that I have at home, which has this fabric (I love it). And I'd like to make this texture for texture painting latter in blender. I actually found a lovely reference picture online, if you don't know what pique fabric is: http://webexpedition18.com/download/petit_pique_textures/LACOSTE-piquet-04.jpg I wanted to make this seamless and use it directly, but... My skills are just not good enough to adjust this image. So I thought maybe it might be easier to use the tools Photoshop already has to make something like this from scratch. Any ideas?

    Distorted Mesh?

Been working on the face only (rest of the body only needs some adjustments in the shoulders, rest is fairly alright) yesterday and most of today. Using A LOT of proportional editing I've achieved a lot. Sorry that I can't zoom too much, but it almost looks the same as the original. Things would go a lot quicker if there was a way to enable background imaging in perspective view. Or if there was any way I could have a model for reference. I have to do this by eye, switching out blender files. And it STILL doesn't look as good in SL as it does here! It's something about the lighting.

    Distorted Mesh?

Here's the problem. I didn't KNOW SL used perspective! I'm used to modeling mesh clothing in SL,not avatars, and I never had this problem with the clothing before. So I really didn't now. I'm tempted to chuck the whole thing and start from scratch... It's like the 5th time I remodel this mesh avi.

    Distorted Mesh?

One of the many reasons I made a mesh avi for myself. This one I'm working with is my second one (my skills got better!). Well, even with the view problem it STILL looks better than the SL model. but it irks me that it doesn't look as I want it to. I spend so much time modeling this to perfection only to find out it looks nothing like that in SL. T_T

    Distorted Mesh?

Oohh, I see. Yes, when I change views with number 5, it does look very strange, more similar to how it looks in SL. Now, can you explain to me why this happens and how I can have the mesh look the same in perspective as it does in ortho?

    Distorted Mesh?

I cannot find an explanation as to why this is happening. I made a mesh avi in blender and rigged it using avastar. The uploaded it into the SL beta grid (skin weights and joint positions). And then noticed something very strange when I focused on the face. See if you can spot the difference: Blender: SL: Why is this happening? I tried messing with the shape: first I tried one with all the values set to 50. Then I tried the shape I used to adjust avastar in the beggining, before rigging. But nothing. The rigging of the mesh works fine. I didn't notice anything abnormal. I then thought this might have something to do with collision bones, but I've never used them before. And I did a classic rig, not something for fitted mesh (still haven't tried this at all yet). Anyone care to guess why this is happening?
  10. Showing off my first autum/winter outfit. Very classic, very doly, just like I like it. Made it myself. Also, the shoes decided they didn't want to be in the picture. As always, my photography skills are non-existent.
  11. I think I saw the bow as part of an outfit she had on her store. I don'r really care for the bow, I really just wanted that hair style and she doesn't have it on her store. I know I'm very picky. OF COURSE the hair that I wanted to buy wouldn't be for sale... Thanks for helping me out.
  12. The first one didn't really have what I was looking for (cute hairs, though) but as for Hal*Hina... well, they had EXACTLY the hair I was looking for... only I couldn't find it anywhere for sale. It was all around the posters on the store, including one right on the front of the store (a blond girl dressed in blue wih a blueribbon on top). Unfortunalty, I'm not sure how to contact the owners: both of them are japanese and say i their profile that they only speak japanese. Also, they haven't logged in for months. There was a model posing in the store, but she was not active behind her avatar, so I couldn't even ask her how to contact the shop owners. I just found this really odd since the shop had all other hairs displayed except that one, which was pictures in several posters along the shop. Just very bizarre...
  13. Yes, searcing for hair. Seems to be a thing here at the SL forums.... Anyways, I've been looking for some cute dolly-styled hairstyles. The closest I found was this one from Lo Momo. However, it's a bit too long and too puffy. I would also like the curls to be a little more defined as well. So far I haven't been able to find results on the marketplace. Here are some pictures of what I've been trying to find: http://data.whicdn.com/images/5369431/tumblr_ld1fvbSady1qznnmeo1_500_thumb.jpg http://usih.merchantrunglobal.com/ImageHosting/ViewImage.aspx?GlobalID=1003&MerchantID=1853&ImageID=1684&DisplaySize=-1&ListingID=3439 http://usih.merchantrunglobal.com/ImageHosting/ViewImage.aspx?GlobalID=1003&MerchantID=1853&ImageID=1709&DisplaySize=-1&ListingID=3442 Is there anything like this in SL?
  14. Lol, I know it's easy and simple and takes 1 minute but I have talked with a couple seasoned shoppers who like mesh and expensive avatars and they knew nothing about basic building. I have the idea that most mesh avatars arr scripted so that the costumer doesn't have to deal with building at all. They just want the tools to enjoy SL better. But this was my experience. Still it was worth checking out scripting. My previous question about updating tools stillstands.
  15. Alright I can use a script inside the mesh avatar so that costumers can change textures. But imagine a costumer already has the mesh avatar and I release a new makeup that he/she likes. How does the costumer buy the makeup and apply it to the mesh avatar? Wouldn't they have to deal with scripting to add the new makeup into the script so that they can change it? And that wouldn't even be possible if the mesh avatar was no-perms. How to I incorporate new content into the script, at the costumer's choice? Or even update the script if it's something I want to apply to all sold merchandise? (in case LL actually get around to doing costum skeletons. )
  16. Helloe everyone. I'd like to explore the market of mesh avatars but I have some questions related to how the system works and a couple of scripting questions. Perhapsyou can help me get a better idea of this. Let me ilustrate sme of my doubts with an example. I made my mesh avatar and put it on sale. Now I make some make up for it, let's say, a blush. How will the consumer buy the makeup (what will he/she actually buy) and how will they apply it to the mesh avatar? Tattos do not work on them and the only way I can visualise this being make is if I replace the face skin with a new one that includes the blush already painted on the base skin. The same would apply wo, for example, mesh eyes (made specifically to fit the avatar). How would the costumer change eye colours? Furthermore, if I release a blush AND an eye shadow seperatly, will they be able to mix and combine them? What kind of system (and even what kind of products) should I use to implement this so that it will be easy and simple for consumers? Also, I know very little about scripting and I can already tell I will need to talk to someone on that area to work this out, but I would like to know more about what I will need to ask from a scripter, and not just a vague idea of what I want. So, anything you guys can explain to me about selling mesh avatars and their "accessories" would be a great help. Thank you very much!

    costum mesh eyes

When importing into SL do I need to import one eye at a time or can I put them both in the same collard file? Also, what's a swivel?

    costum mesh eyes

Hi everyone, I'm here again. I take breaks but never quit. Need to ask a question: how do I make mesh eyes so they fit my new mesh avatar but are able to move in SL like the prim eyes? I'm on my phone right now but I can post a pic of the face topology when I get home. Thanks everyone!!!
  19. You could take a look at Lo Momo. I think their style is Sexy Cute and they have a few mesh items. The store is rather small, though.
  20. If you do find out more about the hair post it here please: this is exactly the type of hair I love to wear. Wouldn't mind adding another to my collection.

    UV map mess

Hum.... help? Not sure what I didn but I messed up my UV mapping really badly. I really don't want to unwrap again since I already have a texture made for this mesh in photoshop, with detaling and etc. Is there an easy fix to this? I have no idea what I did.
  22. Guys, I still need help with this problem. I don't want to lose one of my creations because I'm unable to rig it.
  23. I use the Standard Sizing files. I specialise on small, cute outfits so I model my clothes completely on the XXS model, texture and rig. Then I copy-paste the mesh onto the other sizes and adjust to fit. I also check a bit of the rigging if it needs adjustments but usually it doesn't. Hope it helps!
  24. tried that, still doesn't work. I'm guessing there's some kind of weird property here that I'm missing...
  25. Wow, thanks so much for the suggestions and replyd guys! I have come across in the search with quite a lot of SL restaurants, so I don't think that's rare. And I've heard of people taking their dates to a nice dinner to chat through the night. But I had always been skittish to try it myself. Both Pixel and Arbor look amazing, thank you for the suggestions. Any word on Cafés? Are they also just for roleplay or are there businesess?
