  1. Rofl now it all makes sense let's head over to their dimension, at least I would not run risk of getting old waiting for a explanation!
  2. I seriously do not like to moan about technology going wrong, otherwise one could spend the rest of their lives in misery. I also like to think I have patience especially when fully informed. The message that is up now on the market place was not there last night so I was convinced it was my problem and not second life. A proper message would be more polite and informative such as: Due to technical difficulties which we are not able to resolve at this time, you will be unable to log into the market place, or words to that effect. Rather than the one up now which gives the impression that this is a small fault which will be resolve quickly oh and by the way you can continue shopping??? How when I cant even access the marketplace at all!! I am aware the issue may not be fully known at this point, but be a little clearer with your fault messages and you could avoid frustrated members. Just my opinion of course.
  3. Thank you both for the response and recommendations both of which I will look into during this week. 1920 Berlin sound unique and London a definite sim to check out. Duh to me, I did not even think of checking out Destinations I will have a scroll through there as well. Much appreciated
  4. Hello everyone, my partner and I are looking to settle together in SL. We have looked at a few rp sims and decided that was not quite what we are looking for. However we do like the idea of being a part of a community, enjoying our privacy but still have the opportunity of socialising and joining in with community events. I am from the UK he is European and we quickly established that the sims we visited looked beautiful and although we saw one or two people, we were advised that it was unlikely we would see many of our potential neighbours or attend many of the community organised events due to time differences. Therefore any advice and links to UK or European communities would be deeply appreciated Many thanks ~Ceddy~
  5. The interior edging was my concern and thank you that was excellent advice. Thank you too for the link that was extremely helpful as well. Ceddy
  6. Hi everyone, I have recently discovered and both love and hate Photoshop. I am in the process of putting colors on a template but this particular template has a distinctive edge which I would like a different color from the rest of the outfit. Any advice on the best tool to use, I have tried the paintbrushes but I go over the edges and it looks unprofessional. I tried the marquee tool to try and isolate just the edging but this does not seem to work. Any advice would be gratefully received. Many Thanks Ceddy
  7. Hi, I am looking for a creator to make a corset to match a pair of trousers, I already have. This is needed quite urgently over the next few days. Please contact me in world if you can help and let me know your price. Thank you in advance. Ceddy
  8. Hi, I am seeking help. I have a ladies hand bag design in mind and wondered if it could be made in sl. If there are any creators out there with time to spare to have a look at the design and possibly make it for me, I would be very grateful, I am happy to make it a commision. Please contact me either via this thread or in world. Thank you for reading. ~Ceddy~
  9. Hi riding on the back of Anaky's question and the link that was kindly posted. It also mentions "profile retrieval and related services are also failing for some Residents." does this include the posting of snapshots to the profile feed? ~Ceddy~
  10. Hi Rayne, I have sent you a notecard in world with a few choices that I have come across, I hope they are not duplications. I have lots and lots if you need more The other suggestion is to check out the fashion blogs...a wealth of information is found there and joining a few good SL fashion groups will send you to places off the beaten track with a huge range of formal gowns. Happy Shopping ~Ceddy~
  11. And this is why one has to love the forum. I came on today to post and ask for opinion's on Mesh hair. I brought a few from a shop that I am seriously thinking of buying the affiliate... I think next to shoes, hair is my next biggest spend in SL. This shop makes mesh at a price that is way too affordable, I have a feeling my inventory will be very full soon. But I was curious to know if others thought mesh hair was a good buy. Found this thread and it has answered my questions. My worry was the viewer and being seen as bald to some, which is one of the reasons I have avoided full mesh clothing so far. The positive for mesh in my book, was the fact that the hair did not seem to disappear into your body and that was confirmed on this thread. Thank you to all that posted on here
  12. Finally!!! I have been trying to sign in for ages to post this lol... Something nice about the Market Place....well for me, last minute buys, for example, I was invited to a birthday party, dress code beach wear and I had nothing appropriate in my inventory, and little time to shop around in world...put in a search for beach wear, my price limit and bang...the most fantastic outfit came up. So for that convenience I do like to shop there. I also like the reviews, it has stopped me from making quite a few bad choices, especially when I am in the mood to impulse buy ~Ceddy~
  13. Ohh my deepest apologies to you both, I have only just checked the forum after being away for a bit. Hopefully, it is not too late and you can still use the information. I will post the LM to you both n world. Again sorry for not checking back on the thread. ~Ceddy~
  14. Definitely a labor of love. For my limited experience (Only been a shop owner for about three months, so possibly still very naive and still enjoying every second of my sl, everything is so new and fresh to me.) it could be that most people do not have much money to spend, it could be that my boutiques are affiliated stores and not my own creations, it could be that the sims I have chosen to open up my stores in are not very popular. I have no definitive answer as too why I am not suddenly on the way to being a Millionaire, and I had always assumed the bigger stores who have invested so much more time, funds and work are a lot more successful but times are hard for everyone, so I am told. That said, I can tell you each of my stores are furnished with love and a huge helping of Ceddy's dreams. I enjoy every moment I take opening a store and filling it with goods. For me the customers that come by are a great laugh, I have met some awesome people and have become fast and firm friends with them. Since opening the stores, my friends list has grown, the other shop keepers are friendly and like the ones I have met on this forum, full of advice and willing to share their experiences. With each shop I have been lucky to find likeminded people and have shared the joys of sales, the misery of quiet times, the excitement of watching new ideas work and working through some of the failures. It feels like belonging to a big family. It is completely a labor of love with the added bonus of friendships formed. Don't get me wrong though, making enough money to pay the rents would be the cherry on the top of the cake, I do love the SL sound of money exchanging hands..Kerching!! ~Ceddy~
  15. Soooo, I finally get around to setting up my premium account.. slow I know but hey. As you all know part of the offer is the free Linden home so I think, ok lets see what they have. Naturally the forum (my personal wikipedia research tool for everything regarding SL) was searched and I found out a lot that way, but still decided I would see what was on offer. And what did I find? "Oh Snap! Hmmm? Linden Homes are Sold Out! "What??" Don't worry. We're building more. "Oh that's alright then!!" Typical! Does this happen often? ~Ceddy~
  16. Good morning JL, In addition to the blog link given, I will contact you in world with the landmark of a fantastic sim. Only because I am not sure if I am able to post slur's here in the forum. This lady is amazing in the work she has done, literally every hunt under one roof. Good luck. ~Ceddy~
  17. I really enjoy these at least I do when they are short like this one... the longer versions and I usually grow bored very quickly. This one was nice, so I asked two of my friends to take it as well. I thought it was remarkable, seems to have hit the nail right on the head where I am concerned.... Except the creative part maybe Oh did I not mention what the result was.. I am a INFP and proud of it Thank you for posting the test. ~Ceddy~
  18. *laughs* Apparently patience is a virtue... I am going to learn to be sooooo virtuous I will be given a Sainthood! . Thank you for all the support. ~Ceddy~
  19. Oh wow, I am humbled by all the response and I even had someone contact me inworld with advice too, which I am gratefully acting on today. I am overwhelmed and thank each of you for taking the time to read and respond with such excellent tips and advice. I am taking the ideas and make a few action plans out of them. Also hope has been restored for the hunts, the owner that puts them all together has said there are a few hunts that are reseller friendly Yay!. It is my sl dream and Koltari was right, I find decorating the shop and setting up very rewarding and fun ), making enough money to pay the rent would be a real bonus though!. Contacting the Designer was a fantastic idea (why did I not think of this? In fact I am wondering why I have not thought of most of these ideas, they are amazing and do-able!) ... I guess it is in the Designers interest that I do as well as possible, which works well with the advice about keeping up with what her main stores are offering and doing. Taking on board Wade1 comments, which left me nervous I must admit, but did raise some excellent points, so I am defintely, ensuring I know more about the designer and how she operates, again something I would not have thought of! I am filled with hope and thank you all for keeping those alive but managing to make me see reality at the same time I know things are hard for everyone so I am aiming high, but will try not to get too impatient, that is the motto of the day. Most of all thank you for all the good luck messages, they are really welcomed. ~Ceddy~
  20. My apologies, I posted this in the wrong forum, so as advised (thank you) I am moving my question here. One of the Forum Users made a good point so I have added that to my post because I did not include it the first time around. (thank you again). *deep breath* ok so for the second time.. here goes..... Hello to all Forum users, I am new to posting on the forum, but have spent the last few days reading up on almost everything :) Once I stopped distracting myself, I have decided to ask the kind souls of the forum for a little advice. I have opened up two boutiques as a official reseller. I love having my own boutiques (my SL Dream). My question is how else do I interest people in my boutiques?? This is what I have done so far; I have taken out ad boards, I have taken out a classifed, I have tried to make the shop welcoming not just vendors on a wall, I have opened up in a Sim that has some unique places i.e. a poetry club, piano bar, etc. I have put the shops in my picks (and anyone elses picks, that I could sweet talk into doing it). What am I missing? Also I went to this fantastic sim that had all the hunts in SL under one roof, unfortunately it was then I realized that resellers are not invited to take part in hunts. As pointed out to me, a reseller is at a disadvantage, for not being able to sell anything unique, I know my limitations and my talents just dont lie in that direction, therefore an affilitate was the perfect option for me. Is there anything that resellers can participate in, that will get them noticed? Your advice is sought and would be gratefully received. ~Ceddy~
  21. Many thanks for the answers and advice, I have moved the question to the correct place. Apologies for not being more careful. Ceddy
  22. I have recently upgraded my iMac to Mac OS X, Lion 10.7, then I downloaded the SL viewer 3.3.1.254524. Can this viewer support 10.7? When I log in I can hear the sim music playing and I see my avi as a cloud and that is all I get. On screen I have a coloured spinning disc, and when I check in force quit it tells me second life is not responding. Yet I can still hear the music. Ideas and suggestions would be most appreciated. Many thanks Ceddy
