  1. I am at the  Summer in Bellisseria event open through July 7th, 2024, trying out one of the freebies in the folder in front of the unflattering Patch Linden billboard.

Many groups associated with Bellisseria have set up booths. There are also games and entertainment.

You don't have to live in Bellisseria to enjoy their events or to join any of the Belli groups.

  2. I have been astonished by the quantity and quality of the SL21B Shop & Hop Freebies. Yesterday I toured Forsythia using the Fab Free spreadsheet.

Some items that might appeal to Bellisserians:

    From The Mustard Seed

The Mustard Seed (tms) -  Potted Plants - 3LI, 2LI with shadow removed 1LI with shadow and seashells removed (shadows on ground are the ones that were removed)

Beach Umbrella - 3 LI  - color change

    "Beach House" sign 1LI

"Little Captain and First Mate" 6LI = can be resized   right version is original version, left has been resized - still 6LI

From LOVE Superstore (one of multiple gifts from the store)

LOVE Animesh Cows - 19LI   Elsie (walking), Ermintrude - (running), Buttercut (standing), and Daisy (standing)
You also get a "Cow Moo" sound rock.

I was curious if the LOD on the cow would hold up - so bottom snapshot shows view of cow from 34 meters away.

Photos taken using current Default Firestorm viewer. Some editing done to improve contrast.

  3. Visiting Tripp's Travelers Station. If you like to explore, this imaginative three-level build is a treasure trove of maps, landmarks, and exhibits.

I especially like the creative way he has set up the teleports and information.  You can click a kiosk poster or NPC for a landmark, or walk through a door to another Continent.

I'm stealing some of his ideas.Screenshot2024-07-01at7_53_55PM.thumb.jpg.a12ba2038c95cf7081eaf70721995355.jpg

Trying to decide if I want to walk through the door to Corsica.

  4. I don't seem to have the knack for getting good results with a pose stand, so I rely on other people's creations. This morning I got the bright idea of using my clothing image gallery as a 'pose gallery', but decided it was going to be too much work. Any suggestions?

  5. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/SLB Outgoing/161/151/21 -

Teddy Bear, who teaches photography classes in Second Life, has created an exhibit at SL21B where you can try multiple poses. Inside the building go to the book stand for options, outside there are props you can click.

Teletubbies outfit from Blueberry - now available only on Marketplace. No_Match_No_Inspiration hair (Unicorn version, of course).

  6. I went to the sandbox at Opportuna this morning to sort my inventory and couldn't figure out what was going on. Someone had rezzed something called "Dog Invisiprim Corral" and I had landed underneath. Rezzing objects is, of course, what sandboxes are for, but it was disorienting.

    Looked nice on top, though.

  7. More freebies:

Top picture: The sink and mirror are from Zadig in the Buttercup Shop 'N Hop Region.  I hesitated about getting this because it is labeled 'adult', and even though it comes with several animations that include accessories (toothbrush with 'brush teeth', tweezers with 'eyebrows, etc...) it has adult animations I would not want in my home. Sink is 4LI, reflective mirror is 2LI, and legacy mirror is 1LI. The sink looks nice, but I couldn't figure out how to take out the animations.

For comparison I tried the 15 Linden mirror from Biagi on the marketplace (previously reviewed by Leora Greenwood) and feel it has a better reflection. It also comes with a short explanation of how to set your viewer so that you can use mirrors if you haven't done that yet. .

Bottom picture: some of the freebies from Polenth Yue's "Kindness" exhibit at SL21B. "Alien Elements" http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/SLB Outgoing/67/140/21
The five-block sets of paving stones are only 1LI, and there are also alien plants, a fire-pit, and fireworks. I always look for his exhibits. "Alien Elements" includes a short hunt, and each hunt object has one or more gifts, and part of a story. I always collect all the items first so that I can read the story in sequence.

Thank you for the list. I visited all of the sites this afternoon and was amazed at the variety and talent of what I saw.

One note: with the new PBR stuff I am finding myself having to do something I haven't had to do in years - wait for things to rez! If you find yourself dismayed when you see grey - just wait.

  9. I had used the official viewer so that I could learn to make mirrors. Now that Firestorm has updated I'm back to using that for the most part.

On the negative side, when I was roaming SL21B yesterday there were a few builds where I was thinking "Oh, it's nice that they are using some of Aley's sculpty builds..." and then realized it was just a PBR quirk.  I'm sure it can be fixed.

On the positive side, after tweaking a few settings on my viewer,  I think everything does look better.

Seven new regions have been added to the inworld map, linking Bellisseria's Ranch continent to Bleaberry Tarn and the East River in Sansara! This also means Heterocera continent is now linked by water to the majority of the other mainland continents!

Thankyou to the Lindens and Moles for finally making this water route a reality, I LOVE it! ❤️

    RanchMedLogexpansion14June2024.thumb.jpg.ae42296c8863d2f07f59dc0f332e6abb.jpg

Names (7): Cistern, Kerplop, Portwind, Shark Pool, Scrimshaw, Keep Rowing, Marinara.

Shark Pool (4 sims east of Bleaberry Tarn) has a train station and a boat rez zone.

Thank you for the great map and information!

Yesterday I wanted to celebrate this new water route by sailing west Aleysboat.thumb.jpg.6bae6a8110102f7640be89eeafe98863.jpgfrom Shark Pool on the north edge of the Bellisseria Ranch Continent, but as my main avatar was not able to log in the only boat my alt had was hard to steer and I gave up in Cistern.

Today my main avatar was able to log in and I tried to find a public boat dock on the East River. Failing that, I added {what next}'s wearable rowboat and rowed east from Erie to Shark Pool.

    Thank you, Lindens and Moles!

I'm sure this is all my fault - I was trying to learn how to work with PBR materials.  Now, no marketplace, webpages, or world.

Yes, I did file a support ticket. Sorry if I'm in the wrong forum, but this IS how my Second Life looks today. :(

  13.

I visited the Welcome Hub today. This Welcome Center is an amazing improvement from when I first rezzed and was greeted by two signs and twenty trolls.

I was disappointed there weren't more newbies. Within 1000 meters there were 26 avatars, but only about six who were "new". A wide age range, and at least one mentor*.

I went to an area with kiosks with labels like "What is rezzing?" etc....all seemed to offer links to wiki pages. There was what looked like a nearby lecture area, but no schedule of lectures.

Suggestion: Make some of the great "Second Life University" YouTube available here.

There was a rotating gadget labeled "Personal Automated Transport - Click to Rez". I chose 'Comm Exhib"

Suggestion: Make input fields larger. "Comm Exhib" sounds like it could be short for "Communist Exhibit"visittocommhub.thumb.jpg.6048d297ba41fdcb84517125c470ed1e.jpgb"

The transport took me to an empty lot and texted:

" Arriving at Community Exhibition. P. A.T. will now unseat all passengers and delete. It was my pleasure to serve you! Please come again.:). " I had to walk back to the area with exhibits.

Suggestion: Send the transport closer to the area with community exhibits. Also maybe a prominent sign that these are not ALL the communities in Second Life.

    The WelcomeHubCommunity was represented by:

    Confederation of Democratic Simulators
    Premier Wrestling
The Lighthouse, with a big sign "Mental Health Matters"

Baunatal -which appears to be a German community.

Suggestion: English translation, please. (And maybe simple translations of English to other languages if it is possible?)

    The Nature Collective
Make Your Home in New England
Teegle Equestrians (there was a horse new residents could apparently ride, but one seemed to be having trouble. I did not interfere because there was a sign nearby:

"To established residents: Please do not crowd or hang out in the landing area. etc...." I checked, and of 16 avatars in the area, only 4 were 'new" . One of the oldbies was chatting to the group at large and his profile did not list him as a mentor; however, he didn't seem to be doing any harm.

    Focus Photography Group
    Drivers of Second Life
    Boystown
    Community Gateway (too much neon)
    Bay City
    Virtual Ability

    Second Norway
    We Are Relay
VWEC - Virtual Worlds Education Consortium
    Black Rock
    Caledon
    NonProfit Commons

    Leeward Sailing Club
    Linden Realms
    Bellisserean Bureau of Bureaucracy

    A good representative group.

Suggestion: I would have liked to have seen some of the Building Groups: Happy Hippo, Builders Brewery, etc....(perhaps they were somewhere else and I missed them.)

Not a Suggestion:  It looks like the obvious trolls that tormented me when I was a newbie are being discouraged, although I ran into a very naked avatar. Her profile indicated she was only three weeks old, but the fact she belonged to multiple groups and had an advanced body indicated that she should have known better. I was going to abuse report her when she got dressed. Afterwards I realized she was probably just looking for customers.

Suggestion: Is there way to tone down the glaring blue and white? Also, have more directories and teleports at intersections.

Just trying to help out without actually having to do any work.....

    *Thank you to the mentor.

  14.

If you have a store at an event like Fantasy Faire, don't have any demos or examples of your work,  just 200 vendors selling everything you have ever made.

If your store is at an event, make sure you that once a customer has come inside you have disguised the exit so that they will be trapped inside.

Don't put your name or landmark anywhere.  Also, make your store name an image or altered text so that I will never be able to find you again.

If you have a Marketplace store, make sure that the teleport location to your Inworld Store lands me in mid-air nowhere near the actual store.

In your Inworld store, set it so that I can't use search to teleport to the product I want to see, just send me back to the entrance.

Make sure your inworld store exterior has something to offend everyone. (this place, near the Nautilus Citadel Wall, had political signs, a big pumpkin(?) flashed on & off, and there was a large gaudy block floating overhead).

Sorry if I'm being curmudgeonly this morning.  I'm hoping this will be construed as constructive criticism, because I don't think merchants deliberately try to annoy potential customers*.

*although I do think the ugly build in Nautilus is just an 'in your face' thing.

  15. A L$50 Home? I ran across this on the Marketplace and couldn't resist buying it.

    https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/NS-Lovely-Home-Furniture-Full/10725192

This is "Lovely Home" by NSDesign, and is 14.3 x 18.3 x 8.5. It comes either fully furnished (152LI) or unfurnished (55LI).  With care, I was able to unlink and separate some of the furnishings to use on their own*.

I think this would make an excellent "Starter Skybox" for a resident who was watching their Lindens.

*I love to take composite things apart.
