Mesh clothes when they're done well are great. They're fun and fit well. I'm still going through all the prizes I picked up in a recent hunt, and some of the mesh clothes just don't hang right. It's not a problem with the alpha; it's just that they're kind of barrel-like. For instance, a top or dress that hangs straight down from the breast on down just looks bad. On the other hand, there are some mesh dresses and pants that fit so well and look so good that it's almost like wearing real clothes in RL.
  2. I'm glad I asked! I think that's a great solution, and I bet that one alpha would fix all the dresses that aren't fitting me now. I'll go for that class and give it a whirl. Thanks!
  3. How do you redo the alpha? Do you need to use Photoshop or Gimp? I'm not asking for details, just the general idea. But I should add that I am happy with mesh clothes. The majority of the ones I've bought fit me perfectly. It's only lately that I ran into a slew that don't fit right.
  4. There is a package you can get on Marketplace that has standard size shapes for mesh, and a very informative notecard that explains standard sizes. It explains that the female sizes depend on eight sliders: Body Fat, Torso Muscle, Breast Size, Love Handles, Belly Size, Leg Muscle, Butt Size, and Saddle Bags. I altered my shape so that it fit the nearest standard size, which was XS, and it actually improved my shape, so I was happy. However, I just finished a hunt in which a lot of the prizes were mesh clothes, and I was surprised to find that a lot of the XS sizes didn't fit me. The problem areas were the tops of my breasts, under my arms and around my shoulder blades in back. I double- and triple-checked my slider values against the notecard, and I'm quite sure that my shape is XS. In the cases where the clothes didn't fit right, the S size did fit. Obviously this isn't a big deal. It's just a little irritating. We all know that sizes are not really standard in real life, but in a world where the geometry and anatomy is much more mathematical, I expect that if people AGREE to call certain values XS or S or M or whatever, that they should be the same everywhere. Has anyone else found this? Where supposedly standard sizes are not correct? If this was only one store I'd be surprised, but as I go through the items I've bagged, I find it in store after store. Not every single store, but the major part of them so far.
  5. A couple of times lately I've gotten stuck in a flying animation, and just now was stuck in a swimming animation. It doesn't seem to be connected to my AO, because I changed from one I bought, to using the one built in to Firestorm, and I've had the problem with both AOs. I've tried turning off/on my AO, tried detaching/reattaching, tried "Stop All Avatar Animations" but nothing works except doing a relog. It isn't any other attachment - the only attachments I have are my hair (which has no scripts) and my physics layer. I don't think I did anything unusual before it happened - so far I can't reproduce the problem at will. It's very unpredictable. Charolotte: I know what you're talking about, and I can try to see whether it's the cause. It might be when I have a failed teleport. But then, even if I do tp to another sim, I'm still flying (or swimming). Oh well. I gave you a kudo for answering, but I still have the question of how to stop.
  6. Every time I open a box and copy items to inventory, I get the message "Items coming too fast, automatic preview disabled for 10 seconds." Is there a way to turn this off? I've looked through the preferences but don't find anything. It's pretty annoying since it always appears. I'm using Firestorm. Valerie - I know that I'm getting my items. That wasn't what I asked.
  7. A few people suggested I use physics, and have given me a few to try. But none of them change anything. I've tried taking them off and putting them on, but it doesn't help. My breasts are so immobile, I'm afraid people will think they're fake. (j/k) Anyway, I'm using Firestorm, and I've looked all through the preferences, but don't find anything relevant. Can someone help me get my shimmy working? Thank you, Lindal!
  8. Thanks for that - I did find an infohub and set Home to there - BUT it turned out that there was only a TINY area, like a ten-meter square, where I could set home. The rest of the infohub gave me an error. It was a little confusing at first, because I'd try to set home in a less crowded part and I'd get the error "You can set home at an infohub" - and I was like, "I AM at an infohub!" At last I figured that the crowded space in the middle was the home-able area. Still, there's no place like home.
  9. I don't hang out at infohubs, but every time I "go home" I end up at one. And every time, a bot gives me a landmark for me to throw away.
  10. I haven't tried any mesh clothes yet, but I tried mesh hair. I asked about it here: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Your-Avatar/How-can-I-find-mesh-hair/m-p/1482805 and I went to all the places recommended and tried on samples. It looks pretty enough, but it doesn't move at all. It made me think of toothpaste. After that, I decided to stick with flexi hair.
  11. I haven't tried mesh clothes yet, but I did try mesh hair. I went to as many places as I could find out about and tried demos. It's pretty, but it doesn't move like prim hair does. So for now I'm sticking with prim hair.
  12. Thanks. I've tried most of the places so far. Does any mesh hair move?
  13. I close it, but I wish it wasn't there to begin with, every time. ADDED: I'm using Firestorm.
  14. Thanks. I thought it would be harder! :matte-motes-big-grin:
  15. I am putting together my avatar and looking at hair now. I've been to several stores already, but I don't think I've seen mesh hair yet. Where can I find it?
