  1. Well, I'm still not able to log in. But I noticed when I tried, my name appeared about 6 times across the top of screen. I think I've been highjacked.
  2. Can't log in now. Did the techs all go home?
  3. Totally agree with Phil Deakins. It's really not nice to lead someone on with an identity that is so completely the opposite of what they think let alone for two whole years. You should have ended it as soon as it got serious or you should have told this person beforehand. Some people might have said "no big deal" and carried on, and others might have decided this wasn't what they bargained for. But this poor sod never got a choice because you didn't give him one. I say shame on you. You may now carry on with the technology forum (or was it age discrimination forum?) this thread has turned into, lol.
  4. Looking at the side view of your av, it seems to me the head is just a tiny bit too large. Maybe just adjust the slider down a couple of digits. It just seems as if the head belongs more to a child/toddler size av as human children do tend to have largish heads for their bodies. And I agree about the arms being too long. You need to look waifish to fit the nymph or fae description. I don't know how thin you can get your av, but I'd go really slender. However I wouldn't necessarily flatten the boobs out as much unless you want to be sort of a genderless being. As for the face, if you want to change it a bit, I'd do eyes slanted upwards at the outer corners and high cheekbones. A little gauntness is to be expected in a nymph I think, so as to look more like a fantasy species. You might also want to apply your fae/nymph ears before adjusting your facial features.
  5. I'm not contradicting anyone's advice here. I'm just lobbing in a comment. I run Windows 8.1. It came with the laptop. I have an NVidia GForce 850 video card. First of all, I hate Windows 8, however, that is beside the point. I can run both the official viewer and Singularity viewer just fine. You should uninstall every part of the SL viewers you have installed before you even try to fix your other Windows 8 updates etc. You don't want the same failed scripts to be grabbed by your second or third install causing the same issues. If you have tried everything to install the official SL viewer and it still won't work, you might give Singularity a try. It is a little simpler viewer, but I find it easier to navigate and it takes up fewer resources I've been told (can't swear by that statement, it's just what I've been told.)
  6. Thank you Chase! You hit the nail on the head! And I was not even aware of D!VA hair until now.

    Hair Find

Looks like hair from UW St made by din raymaker, one of their male hairs but just in white. See this: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Uwst-DEMO-Owin-Hair/5136624
  8. Can anyone tell me where this hair is available? It is also shown in the pic of the avatar shape and skin from Imperial called Amanda. But though I have the avatar, the notecard does not identify the hair shop where the hair is available. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  9. Personally, I gave up on the official SL viewer when they came out with the 2.0 version. I am currently using Singularity and find it is still an excellent viewer with all the bells and whistles I require. Whenever I have to use the o I find it cumbersome and it sucks all the fun out of SL.
  10. There are a lot of helpful youtube videos that some of the sl residents have made to help beginners with basics. Just type Second Life into the youtube search.
  11. So I logged in the first time today with Singularity, and I'm transported to never never land that is all Second Life viewer and not Singularity. The log in is different, the menus are the SL viewer and I'm lost. I assumed it was some new jumped up version of Singularity, but then I noticed the SL hand in the upper left corner. So I logged out and logged in using Singularity again. And again I was stuck in a Second Life viewer. I tell you, I came close to ending it all (not really) but reason won out and I decided to uninstall Singularity and reinstall it from the website again. Voila! It's back to good old Singularity as I know it. Can anyone explain what the hell happened?!! It's Wednesday today which means LL did restarts yesterday. Could that have screwed it up?
  12. He was probably all of 16 years old or something. And possibly high or drunk or both. My answer would have been one word: pffffft! But then I'm not a shop owner and not obliged to be nice when the convo turns into crazy talk.
  13. Well, you look pretty good so far I'd say. So now for freebies, go to your search button and open the search. Click on the "classified ads" tab or the "all" tab and type "freebies" (without quotes) in the search field there. You will find lots of freebie stores. I haven't looked for freebies in ages, so I have no idea where you find the best stuff. It's usually a mix of some nice stuff and some not so nice. But since it's free, buy and try until you find what you want.
  14. Here are some options that might come close: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Drot-The-Kenji-DEMO/5534754 https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Exile-Akio-demo/4317311 https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Dura-BoysGirls37-Dark-7color-Fat/4081399 https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/EMO-tions-JAMIE-brown-pack/6015078
  15. I have gone through this numerous times in the past couple of months. The buying option works maybe a week, then the next upgrade changes it and I can't get a cent again. This time it's been a couple of weeks for my main, but my alt can buy lindens just fine. Both of them use the same payment method, so it makes no sense. But when I need money, I've found just tping into dance island and using their paypal kiosk works ok. Of course there is a charge for doing it that way, but better than to be broke when I need the lindens. Meanwhile, you could send a trouble ticket to ask that they fix this issue.
  16. It IS the Patron House. Thanks so much! Just a gorgeous house.
  17. Well, at least I know I'm not alone. None of us is ever safe from the "techs" at LL it seems.
  18. I have been searching for this house ever since I ran across it on someone's estate. At that time I did find the builder who was selling it, but wasn't ready to purchase. Now I've forgotten where I found it for sale or who built it. But I know this pic is main entrance. First time I've found it anywhere. Can anyone identify what the house is from this pic?
  19. No, as far as I know there is no way to see the clothes before you put them on unless there is a picture texture in the file along with the item. Most library items you are furnished with do not have that convenience. Clothing items you buy often do have a picture of the item in the file so that you know what you are putting on when you pull them out of inventory. You can go to one of the many freebie centers (check your search function under classified ads and put the search word "freebie" in the box). There are many free clothing items at these centers and some may actually have a picture with the item that you will see in inventory. At least when you acquire them you will see what they look like as you "buy" them. (When you "buy" a freebie item, the price will show up as L$0 and you are charged nothing). Once you have been in sl for a while, you will find the clothes that cost actual Linden dollars are usually of better style and quality than the freebies.
  20. I had this problem for about 2 weeks after a recent sl upgrade. It did resolve itself, but in the meanwhile I was without money. So I solved it by going to Dance Island where they have other "cash machines." I registered for Virwox I think it is, and then I could get cash. It costs a little in some service fee, but for me, it was worth it because I needed some Lindens to buy something.
  21. If I want to find someplace to go where people congregate, I usually go to the search window and select events and then select "live entertainment." These are for the most part live performances (real music performers with avatars who actually stream their music performance, and interact with the audience). Bring up the ones that are going on currently or just starting (usually hourly) and then click on the "find on map" option. That way you can see how many people are at the event. There are some great entertainers in sl. You can find pretty much any kind of music you prefer. There are friendly folk at these things The other option, if you like clubs, join the club music groups, like "I love House Music" and similar groups depending on your preferences for music (do a search in the general search box for music groups). You will receive notices for their daily and usually bi-hourly dj selection. Again, check on the map to see how many others are there. One very popular place is Frank's Place (the sim is called Franks Place) which is a formal ballroom. There are people there at all hours. But just a warning, you should try to pimp out your avi or you may get overlooked in the crowd and you must wear a formal. Another popular club with various types of music is Ambrosia Dance Club (sim of the same name) which is a casual type house music club. And there is Woods (sim of same name) which is a house music club as well as GOL (sim of same name) or Beachwood (also sim of same name). Blackhearts is a nice little club with fairly standard pop music and friendly hosts The Fairy isles are pretty friendly places too and there are usually some people around most of the time, more on weekends of course. Of course there are other places to see people like welcome areas, but bear in mind some of those are full of hecklers who just enjoy arguing and tend to attract griefers who try to disrupt things with pranks. But with that warning, I usually find lots of folks at Ahern (a very tough crowd), or Nelsonia or Arapaima (just look for these on your map function). Also Social Island has a welcome center, but again sometimes the Ahern crowd goes there just to gain a new audience for their squabbles and there seem to be a fair number of pretty young people there just dressing up and doing goofy things for fun. If you like role play stuff, then you should look in the general search tab for the type of role play you like. You will find sims that cater to role play of various types.
  22. Gizza has well made casual as well as dressy clothes. ZED and nytro carry nice casual stuff, depending on the style you are looking for. Nytro tends to be more hip hugger style pants, but nice dressy mesh shirts there too. Hiphuggers are also available at AMerie. And for casual wear, the jeans/chino pants from Kal Rau fit really nicely. There's also always Redgraves for nice men's togs.
  23. I've gotten somewhat used to these griefing episodes in SL. If you go to any welcome center (they are usually sooo not welccoming btw) there are people just waiting to insult and annoy others. I've found the best tool to remove these little maggots from my life and my screen is the "mute" button. Once muted you cannot see or hear them and will not have to put up with their shenanigans. Familiarize your wife with this function and have her immediately mute this person before they even log on again. She'll find SL much more pleasant once she learns how to mute/pulverize the immature element inworld.
  24. I'm guessing you're talking about mesh clothing? Mesh clothes are formed with standard proportions in mind. I've had this issue as well since my avatar is top heavy in order to mimic my rl measurements. But some mesh clothes just do not cover right unless I go into the "edit appearance" option and change my breast size back to somewhere closer to the middle of the slider bar. It's either that or make a bra using the create shirt or undershirt options in the "edit appearance" mode and try to match the color to the garment color. This will camoflage your breasts. But it only works if you have a solid colored garment to work with, since patterns are harder to match. Hope this helps.
  25. Hey shroom, sorry things started off all wrong on your return. Since I'm not a builder, or creator, I can't say much about socializing with that group or whether many are around or not. I can say that I found people to be rather rude when I was all noob looking. Not so much at the "welcome" centers but clubs especially. And I got booted from homes as well not having any idea about anybody's feelings on privacy. So many grieferss use "throw away" accounts and come in all noob looking and then annoy the living h*ll out of people that many have gotten really tired of noobs. But I also understand the privacy issues. Remember, there are a lot of people in sl now experimenting with sexual orientation or just looking for quick gratification, and there are couples who are in simulated partnerships and marriages in sl, all of whom keep their homes as their love nests. There are lots of sophisticated sex animations now. It's a little disconcerting to be in the midst of a passionate moment with your significant other (possibly on voice) only to have a stranger walk in on you and ruin it all, and cause not a little embarrassment. So you need to make sure the folks there are really in the mood to have a guest turn up, or you may find them less than hospitable. I'm just sayin' this is the reality of simulated reality in sl now. Personally, I perservered and found places and people and activities I like too much to let a little rudeness get to me. I find the live performances are friendly places and the folks there are more tolerant of unconventional looking avatars. Before you go for good, you might give some of these a try: Amforte Clarity, Edward Kyomoon, Gina Stella, Noma Falta, Russell Eponym, KevinM Thomas, Maximillion Kleene, Anj Gustafson...and those aren't all, there are more. Try it. You might like it.
