If anyone should be filing a lawsuit, it's Teva. one is a left and one is a right..one has a spiral in the palm and one has an eye in the palm.. ones fingers are together and the others is spread apart.. one the fingers are connected..the other they are not.. one is a hand for sure..the other could be an eye with long lashes.. plus they are in total different market areas.. pretty far from identical my guess is the Teva logo is a foot, them being a footwear company, but that's just me being logical. And indeed, there can be no trademark infringement because not only are the logos clearly very dissimilar but they're not operating in the same market. Teva isn't selling virtual worlds, LL isn't selling very comfy if not all that fashionable footwear.
  2. oh, but if you don't believe word for word identically what someone else believes you're of course a heretic and must be burned at the stake... Don't you love the way people interpret religious writings to mean they can do nasty things to other people, and forget that little thing about "turn the other cheek" and "an eye for an eye" (which to me means if I hit someone with a stick he gets to hit me right back, and vice versa).
  3. there are valid reasons to post phone numbers, like the phone number for contacting LL support.
  4. as long as the person has the object that you gave permission, he can always animate you unless he himself revokes the permission. And yes, you gave permission, quite probably through some innocious looking thing like a request from a hugger or dance chim (which these things call themselves to hide their true identity). Using options to stop animations or deformers only stops the running animation or deformation, it does not prevent the griefer from doing the same to you again. As you noticed, blocking him does not do anything. AR the griefer, and hope he gets banned is the only thing you can do besides hoping he gets bored and moves on to some other idiocy.

You do not need to be a premium member to own a private estate. I've owned sims off and on during my 7 years here and even at one time a large estate, and never have been a premium member. If you own an estate you get concierge level support, such as it is, and have access to live chat etc. don't misquote me... I said explicitly it helps you get faster support when needed if you own land, not that you need to be premium to own land.

  7. The Linden Homes are small, but nice. And indeed, no need to pay for the land, not even the token L$1 per meter that Linden owned mainland costs if they're selling it. Support works well, the few times I've needed it they acted quickly and correctly. That's not to say they could always help (in one case I ran into something that happened to be a bug in the server software, since fixed but took a week or two, in another the support person could only confirm my suspicion that something was working as designed, even if the design was weird, I've since reasoned out why that design is as it is and it's understandable historically). Overall, well worth being premium especially if you intend to own land (mainland or private estate) as the extra support options help a lot there (getting a sim back up that won't come back on its own after a restart for example).
  8. if you're so disappointed in SL, and apparently have been for years, why are you still here, and with multiple accounts?
  9. theoretically, you can get a sim moved, or a new one placed in a specific location. But AFAIK LL won't place a sim in contact with a sim owned by someone else except in very specific conditions (like the Blake Sea project, in which case some private sims were placed adjacent to LL owned land in order to provide a corridor to move between the mainland and the Blake Sea). Best you can do is contact LL and ask.
  10. did you by chance receive any offers from some real estate agent to sell your land to them at well below market prices before this started? I've had several people I know report similar experiences, always in combination with that.
  11. Pussycat Catnap wrote: 99% of all sim bans in SL happen over stupid "OMG, you stole my GF/BG/BFF/look/friends/meeroos/profile/frenis"... - Which LLs doesn't care to get involved in one bit. So no. But as one reply noted, if someone fell into the 1% that actually did something... it might have come with an AR as well, and that AR might have been acted upon. But about half of those drama-bans also get ARs, so LLs is often swamped with looking through ARs for 'OMG, she dared to wear a pink skirt at a best in blue event'... and often miss the real ARs... hmm, and 99% of the 1% are just as trivial but utterly contrived. Been banned from a sim for not having prim boobs, thus being a child avatar (serious?). Another banned my dark skinned alt because letting her roleplay there was apparently racist (say what?). Been threatened with ARs for being naked in an adult sim, because "child avatars can see you" (uh...).
  12. it is indeed impossible as a lot of mainland is owned by LL and they don't ban someone from a parcel or sim, they've better ways to prevent you from going there It's also quite unlikely you'll get banned from all privately owned parcels and regions simply because many are set to restricted access and won't bother banning you as you'll just bounce off the shields if you do try to get in.
  13. Medhue Simoni wrote: Czari Zenovka wrote: With SL writing all the code, this seems to me to be one step closer to turning SL into a glorified MMO.... ....which is probably what Rod wants. I'd be totally against it. I know lots of people talk about this, "Rod is going to turn SL into a game", but I just don't understand what all the hysteria is. People act as if better games in SL some how takes away from the SL we all know and love. I don't see how it does. It's still SL but with better games. Who wouldn't want that? Obviously some don't, but I have yet to hear an actually reason that isn't based on nostalgia. because a lot of us have no interest in first person shooters, and think any effort put into turning SL into one (which you obviously seem intent on) is going to waste our experience at worst and at best prevent effort being put into things that could benefit us.

I've been a gamer for years, and before that, I did mechanical engineering with AutoCAD 2000, plus I've done some coding in the past, so learning LSL was easy. I took to it like I'd been in SL for years, and I didn't mind dropping cash to buy L$ and buy AOs and things right off the bat. So, people immediately called me an alt. I told 'em to STFU and ignored 'em. Problem solved. same here "you know too much to be new to this thing, so you must be an alt". And then there's the "you're having a 'Resident' name, therefore you're an alt" or the alternate "you've a Resident name, therefore you're an idiot". Just ignore the alt haters out there who react like that, and your second life will be a lot nicer. Send me an im in game and I'll give you an invite to my "me, myself, and alt" group
  15. and remember that a parcel that small will only have a teeny tiny amount of prims available, which will affect the looks of your store and what you can display there. If/when it gets popular, the land owner can also get angry at you for blocking other parcels in the region from access because you're having so many people on your small parcel.
  16. Zeb, you're the only one here misleading anyone. If you fail to read the details of an offer, that are clearly listed, that's YOUR problem for not being a responsible adult. What's next, complaining that LL don't call you on your landline to confirm that you indeed want to do this because you might inadvertently sign up for it and change your mind later?
  17. same here, have had a nice bit of mainland for months now. Except for one period of a few weeks where a neighbour had got a self replicating trojan on their land they couldn't quickly find, very good experience. Would increase my land holdings there if there were land available at a decent price, but got lucky as is to get the land I did get at what's below average price for an oceanfront parcel, and there's nothing available in the sim or the neighbouring ones.

  20. correct. You're not going to earn anything even close to a RL minimum wage in SL, forget about it. There might be a very few exceptions, people who invest(ed) a large amount of money and effort in running a business in SL and after years of doing so are now seeing a positive income flow, but I seriously doubt even they get much more out of it than they put in when measured over the entire time they've been active (e.g. you might have to invest $1000 and 5-6 years later have gotten $1010 back). Far better to get an RL job and just see SL as part of your entertainment, use some of the beer money you'd otherwise spend at the local pub on buying some L$.
  21. of course the sailing estates are not really private, as they all have (and rightly so) strict rules about land security settings, basically disallowing anything that would block access to the waterways.
  22. That land you want for free is costing someone real money. Always remember that.
  23. that would work only on group owned land, not on land set to group AFAIK. And things can be turned off at estate level so only estate managers can do it, which would override group settings.
  24. would you rather have that someone random can get access to your account by simply sending LL an email telling them that account XXX should now be linked to the email address dirty.little@scammer.com?

Perrie Juran wrote: Gadget Portal wrote: That'll be a problem for people that aftermarket texture vehicles- most of the popular vehicles are sold no mod, and require a UUID to apply the texture. With temp textures, that worked fine. Are you saying that all the aftermarket textures are done using temps or are you just referring to the ones used for "test puropses?" Just seeking clarification. Exploit where you can get a uuid for a temp texture, that persists after the texture is deleted I guess. Never tried, but might just work/have worked.
