  1. The payment method for buying Lindens can be different than the one for paying premium fees and land tier. You probably don't have one set up for buying Lindens (there's one for buying on the web site and aanother for buying in your viewer). If you go to Dashboard (on the web site) > Account > Billing Information you'll see where to set up a payment method for buying Lindens. Since you're a premium member you'll probably just have to add a method.
  2. Peggy is correct, but you should also know that your account will continue getting the weekly stipend until it is downgraded.
  3. Okay, I own some land. I know how to set the TP spot, but I'm having trouble setting the orientation. For example, if I want people to be facing west when they TP in, I face west on the spot when I set the TP point in About Land. But when I go somewhere else and TP back to the spot I just set I'm not facing west. Is there a way to force avatars to face a certain direction when they TP on to my land? Edit: Thank you. I was hoping I was missing something but it's good to know that info.
  4. Your accessories came packed in a box. You need to rez the box on the ground then click on it and choose Open. A window will open showing the contents of the box and you'll have the option to copy them to your inventory. Here, this will help: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Opening-boxes/ta-p/700185
  5. You would have had to choose a name when you first signed up, when you chose your initial avater. Rolig and Storm are correct in that your last name will be Resident. But if you don't want to use that for anything but logging in you can always use a display name. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Usernames-and-display-names/ta-p/700173#Section_.2
  6. I just want to say that as a relatively new Resident I find this kind of stuff fascinating and quite educational. If the original item is what I think it is, I wouldn't touch it with a proverbial 10 foot pole because the whole thing sounds FISHY to me. I say that because there's one item that shows up multiple times when I search for a Traffic Aid in Marketplace and I haven't heard many good things about that group of products But, to try to answer the original question I'd have to say yes, it's ethical to sell no perms items. What you're actually asking is if it's ethical for someone to force you to change to a no perm version of an object that had some perms (transfer, in this case) when you bought it. To that question I'd have to say no, it's probably not. But it may not be illegal either, or a violation of the TOS.

How to find one? Do a search for sandbox. How to use one to build things? Your best bet would be to find some classes (like at Caledon Oxbridge) or a private tutor.
  8. Yes, you can cancel your Basic account. Go to the web site Dashboard (secondlife.com), click on Account (once you've logged in), then Cancel Account. There will be a button on the next screen to confirm your choice.
  9. Another yes here. I've never been charged more than they said they'd charge.
  10. I'm just full of land questions tonight, I guess Anyway, I see in the Knowledge Base that you can join land if it's in the same region. But it doesn't say anything (that I can find) about whether the two parcels need a common border or not. So here's the question: Can two parcels that don't share a border be joined if they are in the same region? Edit: That's what I thought. I wish they would make that clearer. But thanks for the help.
  11. Okay, this one is bugging me because I can't find an answer. There's a piece of abandoned land I'd like to buy. It's 8704 m2 (sorry, I can't do the superscript). I don't want to buy the whole piece, though, and I can't find out if I can buy just some of it. I'm hoping that there's an option when you click on the Buy Land tab (in the About Land box), but I hesitate to click on that tab in case it doesn't ask me to confirm the purchase. If anyone can tell me - or point me to the information I haven't been able to find - I'd appreciate it Edit: Marigold, that's a good idea. I hadn't thought of that. As it turns out it didn't give me an option to buy less than the full area, but I didn't have enough L$ anyway. Knowl, it's definitely abandoned land, owned by Governor Linden (I can name him, right?) and for sale to anyone. The About Land box shows only the full area, though, and that's more area than I can afford.
  12. I'm looking for an older male skin (or full avatar), one that looks around 40 or 50. Most of the male skins I've found on the Marketplace or inworld are young men who look like they're in their 20's. There's nothing wrong with them -- they're just not me. I don't know how to make skins so I imagine it's tough to do a realistic one with some lines to show age, but I hope there's something out there. I did find this shop, TrickSies Fifties, and he has some interesting stuff, but it's not quite what I'm looking for. I can edit my shape if I have to, but I just want a normal, older man skin. Of course it would help if he was handsome and distinguished looking. :matte-motes-big-grin:
  13. A friend of mine loves the skins at Plausible Body.
