  1. There are merchants that make horses that you can ride. They're well made, they don't breed and you don' have to feed them. Im not one of those merchants, but there is at least one that has been in operation for over 5 or 6 years? Something like that anyway.
  2. as long as people (wide-eyed, thinking if only i can get a pair to breed the rare 14-eyed, pink purple breedable, I’ll be rich) buy these things, there will be people producing and selling these things. It’s the law of supply and demand, Caveat emptor as LL has chosen not to police things like this.
  3. It absolutely is a ponzi scheme. the people getting rich are the people who made them and then sell food and perhaps the people at the very top of the pyramid who bought the first ones and sold them or auctioned their offspring off to other unsuspecting people. the real money is the sale of the food, which breedable owners are forced to buy to keep their animals alive. Sort of like addicting a large group of people to heroin and then being the only one with heroin to supply. It’s unethical and sad.
  4. Certain keywords will trigger it, too. When i first put my houses up on marketplace, i put in Gor as a keyword and it forced me to make a house "mature." Strange rules. i had to take that word out of the keyword search. I wish there was a little more logic applied to the setting of ratings on marketplace.
  5. I like your idea of having products in multiple categories, but i also thing that there are some gaps in the existing categories. For furniture or apparel, i do agree with you, but what about specialty items? Outdoor furnishings is not really a good match for dock equipment, as an example. Perhaps not a RP category but expansion of existing categories that would allow for better categorization of specialty items in groupings? Thoughts?
  6. I think that a ban should be a last resort. My policy is to ban only when the person is a griefer and I observe it occurring. I don't rely on word of mouth, since I’ve seen that used in the past to target people. I think stealing is wrong - any type of stealing, but I can't build my life around trying to stop people from stealing or being dishonest. You all realize that our products can be copybotted by going to anyone who has bought something from us, right? The only way to ensure that you items are never copybotted are not to sell them - a no-option really.
  7. Does the Commerce Team take suggestions that are posted here? If so, I'd like to see the ability to get to a specific page in the inventory listings. It would also be helpful if, after making an update to an item, it returned you to that page of the listings rather than page 1. Lastly, i''m still on my crusade - I'd like to see additional categories added to accommodate things like dock / pier equipment or medieval merchant stalls / props, etc. Anyone?
  8. Going to ask this question again: Am I the only one who finds that the current categories are limiting? I feel that there is an opportunity to broaden the categories. I had proposed a Role Play category on another thread. I'd be amenable to period-specific, genre specific or any similar category that allowed buyers and sellers to easily find like-products. As a consumer, I find it amusing, sometimes frustrating, when i type in a keyword for search and marketplace comes up with items that have no relation to what I was searching for. For example, I put bracelets in as a keyword search and, in the mix of clothing and jewelry, houses came up.
  9. I also see it a ost of doing business (RL stores contend with shoplifters all the time) and as a cost of being a consumer as well. Caveat emptor has a whole new dimension of meanings on marketplace, where people frequently set up shop and sell freebie full perm items or copybotted items for a fee. In a world where licensing is largely ignored and new products or items are copied as fast as they're released, I'm not sure that there is much that you can do. The volume of sellers and products out there far exceeds any governing body's ablity to keep up with the rule-breakers and take action. I pay for my software, i take pride in my building and, most of all. I have fun doing it. I try not to think about the other stuff and can only hope (maybe delude myself into believing) that in the end karma will out. Lock only keep honest people out. Cheers
  10. True, but right now there are no categories at all related to role play. so this might be a step in the right direction. besides, certain products lend themseleves to multiple forms of RP such as Medieval, pirate, fantasy - there is a lot of overlap there.
  11. Wouldn't it be great if Marketplace had a Role Play Category, which could contain subcategories like: Docks, Merchants & Stores, Period Furnishings, clothing, etc? It might make it easier to have a single category where merchants could market their items and consumers could go to find products. Thoughts?
