  1. What Zanara said *grins* Wouldn't it be great for you if ski manufactures listed your avatars for their skins?
  2. Unless Super String is also the person who started the thread "Free for you and you and you..." I think there is more than one person affected. And are you surprised? There is a long history of releasing functionality and then reacting to clean it up and correct it after the fact. Terms like scalability, performance, and reliability appear to be elusive ones whenever there is a major functional rollout of any nature. Just take a look at the MP performance since redirecting everyone there to buy the bear. It took me close to an hour to find and purchase one item yesterday. That merchant uses DD and I wonder if they know that I bought from them and if they got paid. I know that I paid for the product.
  3. Arwen Serpente wrote: I can support what Super is saying 100%. I tested a purchase from Super's store today and even though I received the item (my account was charged for it - it was free but I was charged), the order history under my Account is still hung up in "Being Delivered". Please see the JIRA that Super created - this one is important: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-4559 How did you think that LL was going to fund all their work on direct delivery? LOL
  4. This is exactly why I would like to see the Commerce Team expand the Marketplace Categories. To make it easier for everyone to find the items that they're looking for.
  5. Question -the way you did this for DD is the way you have always done this for MP products? (for each item did you go to contents and set he permissions and then do it again when you boxed them ? or did you just set next owner permissions on the box?) I'm trying to understand if you’re saying that DD somehow undid the perms that you had set and this would have worked using magic boxes with market place.
  6. That's a good suggestion. Thank you for posting that.
  7. Why am I not surprised? There is still so much confusion on how it really works and what to do to enable it - what will merchants who have older computers do? which viewers do what? (there are rumors that if you install one viewer and then switch back to another, all the folders, including merchant ones will remain and function - rumors at this point only.) So in the midst of all of this confusion LL announces that in TWO WEEKS they'll answer questions? really? What will be left to answer by then as residents muddle through this transition and rely on their friends and group support? lol
  8. I believe that google charges if you want to use their software. LL can use whatever product or tool to do search that they want to - i just want it to work (both in-world and on MP - have you tried in-world search lately? ::head desk:: )
  9. Rosemaery Lorefield wrote: I'm not clear on how DD is going to make this worse? A magic box requires a single prim, and you can rent space in "box farms" for super cheap.. Well it's true that it's not all that difficult to find a place to rent to set out a magic box, but you have do at least that much. DD allows everyone entry into MP without having to make any investment at all. It's not as if we're in a good starting place right now. That's my 2 cents (L$5)
  10. Cinnamon Lohner wrote: Why do we need governance of the Marketplace? Capitalizm is self-correcting. Ask any Rod Paul supporter! :smileytongue: --Cinn hahaha (I'm so tempted to say that I like some of what Ron Paul says, but...um...if I start expressing my political views we'd all be in trouble. :-P) There is, however, a big difference between over-governance and NO governance, but I'm not holding my breath that anything will be done.
  11. I've said this many times before - there is no governance of Marketplace. It's a bad situation about to be made even worse because with the new Direct Delivery option, anyone can be a merchant without needing to have land to set out a magic box. And, as noted before by many, LL is pushing MP over in-world stores. Today, with the magic boxes needed, there are merchants selling freebies for a cost, selling other people's work, selling inferior products, etc. I should note that there are quite a number of reputable, good, quality merchants on MP, but the others do ruin it for the bulk of us. I've been burned, too. I've bought something only to find documentation written by the original creator (not the seller) where it clearly states that it is a "freebie" item that i just paid L$600 for. Caveat Emptor.
  12. Arwen Serpente wrote: Dear CTL, The Notice posted in the Merchant Home part of the Marketplace contains a link to more information: March 20, 2012 Marketplace will be down between 9:30 and 10:30 am on March 20, 2012 for a release in preparation for the Direct Delivery launch on March 21, 2012. Please see the Beta Release Notes for more information. The Link does not work: The page you were looking for doesn't exist. You may have mistyped the address or the page may have moved. Please fix this, so Merchants can see the information (if new) that's been provided. All we have to go on at this point is the original Beta information. Please help us as Merchants, and help the Residents be prepared for this change/and associated changes being deployed. There seems to be no place to get reliable information on what to expect and how to continue selling on MP following the rollout tomorrow. The beta notes have a statement that they're not reliable and redirect to MP, which has the same OLD information. The link referenced above does not work for anyone
  13. Josh Susanto wrote: The people who need a shrink are those who really believe this deployment will solve even half as many problems as it will create. LOL and as an aside, in-world search continues to malfunction as planned. If you're looking to shop at an in-world store, best go to Market Place and get their LM there. If you type the name of a store exactly as it is spelled in the all or general category f search, it won't come up. It doesn't matter if that store is listed under classifieds or not. WTG, LL, You continue to meet all of our expectations of failure.
  14. Marniemay wrote: Just as an aside - I was trying to find an eating animation for a dining set and put 'eating' in the search. Wooohooo you would not believe what came up! My education is now complete..... ROFL! I get lost trying to find things on MP. I have to dedicate a lot of time and a whole lot of page views to finally get to a page that has some semblance of the item that I'm looking for. Here's to intestinal fortitude. Cheers.
  15. I toyed with multiple solutions in my mind and discarded them. One solution would be to ask the Commerce Team to govern keyword entries in the same way that they govern category listings. The problem is that the sheer volume of products would overwhelm them. If they asked for resident volunteers to help that might lead to reviewers favoring their friends or using it to thwart competition. So the only solution seems to be to fix the search algorithm, Maybe even do away with the keywords altogether (one or both or more of you suggested that) and key in on the product name only. There are so many issues right now with MP (people selling free items for linden dollars, people using keywords across all their products, a category set that may need an expansion, etc.) and more people entering into it each day. Anyone who can put out a magic box can be a merchant. This will only get worse if direct delivery is enabled because then sellers will not need to have land to place a magic box. But a good start to making improvements would be a search fix. My two cents (L$5)
  16. I put in the following phrase into search on MP, "sculpt books.". I am logged on and my preferences allow displays of general, mature and adult content. Page 1 came up with one bed, two bedroom sets a living room set, cuddle rugs (not even my own :-O), slave clothes, an outdoor sex bath, a porch set and 1 old-style basic prim bookcase for L$1. I wonder HOW anyone manages to find my products if they don't know to go directly to my store. I'm now thankful for those that have bought from me and can only attribute it to word of mouth. The commerce team regularly polices category listings, but anyone can type any keywords into their listing, rendering them next to useless. I want sculpt books. I am not looking for bikini-like slave clothes or a sex bath or porch furniture etc. I'm just amazed. That's all that I can say.
  17. Paula001 Goldschein wrote: further i don't agree with llyra (exception!), personally i don't like the no refunds comment. to me it sounds like you cannot talk to the merchant about issues in general and it makes me feel unwelcome right away. They don't have to put that in their store policies that they do not give refunds for full perm item purchases, but if they have no intention of ever giving a refund for full perm items, I think it's best to state that up front. Just my opinion.
  18. I'm not sure. I rarely IM the creators of things that I purchase. the couple of times that I did, they responded quickly and professionally. I am picky, I know that. I don’t make clothes myself and, if I buy a clothing item that is not well made, I just never shop there again. But I don't IM the creator or give a bad review. My pet peeves with clothing are prim skirts that attach to the av in a way that doesn't account for differences in body types (like having hips and a backside,) or old style clothing that relies on those horrible (non prim) skirts, which make you alter your av or put on a "Wide Load" sign. Merchants or creators that spam me with multiple group invites or notecards or any sort of unrequested materials annoy me too. If I want to know about your products, I'll join your group or go to your store (MP or in world.) In this regard, I'm probably a very tough customer. I build, too, and unwanted textures notecards, objects are distracting and annoying. My two cents (L$5)
  19. I do look at the reviews myself when I'm buying things and i read what they say. I look for a couple of things - did anyone write anything useful in their review? Does this product have multiple 5 star reviews in a short time that all say, "great product?" etc. For the multi 5-star reviews with little content, it makes me believe that they had their friends write the review. Similarly, if there is a scathing review where the reviewer seems to be on a mission, but offers little in terms of what did and did work with the product then I discount that as well. Honestly, in all of my purchasing, I think i found one and only one review helpful. It was well-written - gave positive and negative feedback well and i fund it to be accurate. The rest of the reviews for a vast array of products are next to useless as a consumer. My two cents ($L5)
  20. I agree with the responses that said that you do not have to give a refund. I would also encourage you to state under your store's profile that you do not give refunds for full perm items. As for those that recommended giving the customer another one - there's no need. It's a full perm item and they already have a back-up full perm copy in their inventory. Most people can and will be reasonable if you speak to them, but there will always be that percentage of people that are difficult no matter what you do. And you can't do anything about that. If you've tried to help and reason with them and they're still unyielding and threatening to report you, let them. As others have said, likely nothing will come of their report. Besides how much are we talking about? 2,500L? which is...um...ten dollars US? Always helps to put things in perspective. My two cents (L$5)
  21. Arwen, it never showed up in transaction history. It showed u in account history - so the money was credited, and yes i got the emails and local notifications. It’s been roughly 48 hours and it’s not in my transaction history on marketplace. Both problems are slightly different but point to what others are saying - bad architecture, disjointed database and lost data. I'm in better shape cause I got the money, but still would be nice if the commerce team would address this.\ (btw - i love your clothes)
  22. You can view linden dollars as fiat money on steroids. When SL was established originally, linden dollars were just game money and you could not purchase or sell it. Then residents started buying it from one another and some even began to sell it on ebay. It was an unforeseen, unplanned for side effect. This prompted linden labs to allow the purchase and sale of the game currency. Still TOS referred to and continues to refer to linden dollars as game money, essentially play money. The problem for them is that this supposed play money can be used in lieu of real dollars to pay tier, purchase goods on marketplace, etc. Giving linden dollar exchange rates for real world costs (like server support; i.e. tier) or for virtual goods, means that their "game money" is much more like casino tokens with a legal tender cash value. The problem for everyone else is that this currency is fiat on steroids (because it has no real asset backing,) and the exchange rate is determined exclusively by linden labs. If you're in this to have fun, which is what i am, then this really doesn't matter. I'm not looking to make a real world living in SL. But if you are, it can be a problem.
  23. I have a similar issue and have come to the conclusion that the marketplace dat is not accurate. Yesterday there were three consecutive purchases within the span of 30 minutes. I got magic box notifications of all three purchases. the first one was for one item. the second was for 2 items as part of a much larger order that the person had made, and the third was for one item. Purchases 1 and 3 came through to email in a timely fashion. Purchase number 2 did not show up for hours later, btu made it to email. I checked my account transaction history and it showed all three payments (purchase number 2 payments were hours later - probably because that order was waiting for ALL items from all merchants to cmplete.) Here's the kicker. My Marketplace transaction history still does not reflect the middle order. I have no reason to believe that my MP transaction data i accurate at all or that it's a useful input to any sort of analysis. Further, since we're only talking about three orders in that 30 minute period as opposed to the volumes that some more established merchants might have, I shudder to think of how much data, money and transactions are completely lost. Isn’t the 5% fee per item supposed to cover the costs plus for LL to ensure data accuracy and overall tool reliability and stability? It’s great that there is a prototype for direct delivery but how will that resolve data anomalies / discrepancies?
  24. (I thought that I posted this earlier, but I must have been dreaming...LOL) I haven't gotten a bad review. I just think the review system is flawed in that, with a lack of governance, people can write scathing reviews or conversely, people can get their friends to go online and rate them and inflate the ratings. I'm sure the Commerce Team pulls a review after it's reported (if the review says - they didn't deliver, etc.,) but what if the person writes a retaliatory review and doesn't put those words in? I just think that the review system needs a little more oversight. Jut my 2 cents (L$5)
  25. I haven't gotten a bad review. I just think that the review process needs more governance. I’m sure that bad reviews that explicitly write about delivery failures are removed. But what about reviews where they lambast the store or the product? Does the commerce team check to see if the reviewer actually bought the item? That the review is fair? That the 2o or so good / 5-star reviews didn't come from someone’s alts or close friends? Just wondering. Seems to me that there is governance lacking. Just my two cents (L$5)
