  1. I got side swept, and now I'm going to watch,

The Late Bloomer is a 2016 American comedy-drama film directed by Kevin Pollak and written by Gary Rosen, Joe Nussbaum, Paul A. Kaplan & Mark Torgove, and Kyle Cooper & Austyn Jeffs. The film stars Johnny Simmons, Maria Bello, Brittany Snow, Jane Lynch, J. K. Simmons, Kumail Nanjiani, Beck Bennett, and Paul Wesley, and is based on journalist Ken Baker's autobiography Man Made: A Memoir of My Body, in which he detailed experiencing puberty for the first time at age 27.

    Synopsis:

I watched this movie this morning and I'll be watching the sequel after this posting. :) It's a little cheesy but what modern Christmas movie isn't? There are some scenes that are unrealistic but come on, it's a fictitious screenplay. People become too critical for easy watching films.

    Netflix

I don't like modern trailers. They pack the entire movie into it within a couple of minutes.

If you like knowing everything except the minute details that you can only see by watching the entire movie, then here are the trailers for you.

  3. Lyrics:

    [Verse 1]
Hey ah na na, innocence is over
    Hey ah na na, over
Hey ah na na, ignorance is spoken
    Hey ah na na, spoken
Hey ah na na, confidence is broken
    Hey ah na na, broken
Hey ah na na, sustenance is stolen
    Hey ah na na, stolen
Hey ah na na, arrogance is potent
Hey ah na na, potent, yeah

    [Chorus]
    What I see is unreal
    I've written my own part
Eat of the apple, so young
    I'm crawling back to start

    [Verse 2]
Hey ah na na, I repent tomorrow
    Hey ah na na, tomorrow
Hey ah na na, I suspend my sorrow
Hey ah na na, sorrow, yeah

    [Chorus]
    What I see is unreal
    I've written my own part
Eat of the apple, so young
    I'm crawling back to start

    Hey ah na na

    What does Rotten Apple mean?

a rotten apple. A person whose own words or actions negatively impacts an entire group of people. Taken from the proverb "a rotten apple spoils the bunch.".

No official meaning from the band but you can read fans' comments below the lyrics as how it speaks to them.

I think it's a trendy thing to do (just like those chromatic aberration filters that just won't die off), to show the item in an ad made with a 3D rendering program, rather than from an in-world screenshot.

It's also quite misleading, because it often shows physical properties of the product, like reflections, refraction of light through semi-transparent objects, sub-surface scattering, softer appearance though volumetric lighting, all of which do not exist in SL at all.

The counter-'argument' usually is: yeah, so what's new? Isn't all advertising misleading?

Hi, you sound knowledgeable, since you know the correct terminology for the outlining with, "chromatic aberration filters". What is the purpose of it for SL ads?

Avatars made for Second Life tend to have a specific "flavor" to them compared to ones made for other actual games. We can discount avatars that would be considered "recognizable game characters" and there'll still be many quirks that are obvious tells about whether something is exported from somewhere else and not made with Second Life in mind.

It's obviously not something everyone can do, but the more time you spend looking at the types of models people make for Second Life vs 3D modeling software vs actual games, you'll start to quickly recognize that "something doesn't belong."

For example, this is a recent upload in the Complete Avatars category:

Just the way this item is titled + its description is a red flag that this is just a quick upload from somewhere else and not a "real product." If I do an image search for "final fantasy 8 squall chibi 3d model," you can quickly tell that this is just a model that's floating about the internet, and the original comes from "Itadaki Street Special" which is a PlayStation 2 game.

    Another example:

First, let's ignore the ridiculous price. Something seems off from just looking at the texture quality. Avatars in Second Life are the main attraction and what people spend most of their time looking at, but you can almost see the pixels in those textures. Nobody would make an avatar like that for Second Life, even if they wanted to make a low-poly stylized avatar. Someone who has the skill to create a complete avatar like this simply wouldn't ever sell it the way it is, for as cheap as it is.

The reason why this avatar has such wonky looking textures is because it's ripped from a game called League of Legends, which is a top-down action game and doesn't need that high resolution.

    b1f7dd33b3.png

And this kind of stuff makes up the vast majority of everything in that category. If you find one suspicious avatar, look at the creator's store. What you'll most likely find is a mish-mash of completely different styles of avatars, so different in quality (and in such quantity) that there's no way a single person would have created all of them.

If we went into the price category that I think would at least be reasonable for a "complete avatar" (1000 - 5000 range), you'll see more of the same alongside the really good products.

Reasonable price, detailed description, creator's name isn't suspiciously random, and their store looks consistent. Looks like a real product.

Reasonable price, realistic description, lots of screenshots + features ("a lot of effort"), but looking at the store, it's one of those mish-mash cases. The scripted features can be pretty much copy-pasted between avatars, especially since this store seems to focus on combat stuff. The mesh avatars themselves however look very "default" or low-detail as if taken from somewhere else. I would almost guarantee they're all ripped.

    TLDR checklist:

    1. Does the product lack a description and screenshots?
    2. Does the store have products with greatly varying quality?
    3. Does every product lack a demo and inworld location?
    4. Does it look a bit too "low quality," like compressed/low-res textures?
    5. Does the quality of the avatar seem inconsistent with the product image?
    6. Does the price seem "too good to be true?"
    7. Does the creator have a generic name like Woodoo862834?

You don't need an in-world store nowadays to be a legit store.

It makes more sense to run a cost free store than paying for rent and uploads.

Many new creators operate only a marketplace store.

👏 Well said - there's a tad too much judgement around about how one's avatar should look. Choice of appearance has nothing to do with money or fashion sense in real life and everything to do with the reason for being in SL, which for many of us is not to play dress-ups!

I joined SL specifically to dress up the avatar. I came from a game called Smallworlds and the main point was to deck out your doll like avatar, besides the mini games you could create and play 3rd party games within the world.

The majority of profit that LL gets besides real estate, is from the fashion community.

  8. Lyrics:

I don't wanna feel no more
    It's easier to keep fallin'
    Imitations are pale
Emptiness, all tomorrows haunted by your ghost

Lay down, black gives way to blue
    Lay down, I'll remember you

    Fading out by design
    Consciously avoiding changes
    Curtain's drawn, now it's done
Silencing all tomorrows, forcing a goodbye

Lay down, black gives way to blue
    Lay down, I'll remember you

thank you so much for your kind respons Kitteh, she dont have a csr, she is only owner & creator 😢

i totally understand your situation as well, its a bit scary to me...    maybe it's bc people dont mind or have enough customers i donno really i dont, i hope it works out for you, really, kind regards, Imbolc

Oh well. The thought of her having a CSR gave me hope. It feels like she took every single name from Anna's post and added to her ban list, even when I and they said nothing about her.

Edit: I meant, those who said nothing about Catwa, like myself and other people.

    You're very welcome Imbolc. :)

I did read her post. We offer Training. I didnt JUST SPAM.

Nowhere in your ad did you mention training. You could have told her that your club offers training for hosts and then linked her the slurl. No need to put in your spiel about the club with the poster. You can use the classifieds in the forum for that. The way you did it, was like you didn't want to speak to her personally. It just looked like a recruiting spammy post.

I'm aware you probably already have a job now xD and your illustration skills are FAR worth more than what people in SL will pay for them but you go :)  You shineeee :)

Plenty of people pay for art commissions. I linked to Nylon Pinkney, an artist who does art commissions. Creators and non-creators have paid for her to render their avatars and their real life portraits into artistic portraits.

  12. Create high quality, professional flyers and promote through social media, like FB groups with your FB page. Talk about what the club is about and what it offers on your club page. Post now hiring on your club page and state what you're looking for, what the pay is and the dynamics of your team. Ad boards in-world do help, with a clear and easy to read club logo texture. 512 by 512 rezzes faster. You can list your club in events, every 2 hrs so that people will see your club listed all throughout the day.

  13. You could try removing the products from your marketplace window in-world. Then drag them back to that window inworld. Create the listing in-world.

Try listing 1 first and see if it appears in your store.

If this doesn't work, then submit a support ticket to have them fix your account for the marketplace to work for you.

For testing delivery, this only applies to the creator of the product or a full perm product you are reselling.

@Kytteh Wytchwood, thankyou for your topic & questions, (my first reply here in this forum), sorry for odd letters :)

i experienced same as you and it was a creator that i loved & supported in a very hard time in her life, i was devostated really...

Atm i've started my own shop (just little now), and wondered, IF i would have someone mean or abusive in 'reviews', what to do (since i 'learned' the hard way it's possible).

It's difficult sometimes... many names... it's a horrible thing to do when one has treaded someone good...

    Yeah... :s

    I feel for you.

The only thing I haven't done to get this resolved, is to contact her CSR. I don't know if it will do any good but asking her CSR to read my information about the random ban and that I did nothing...perhaps the CSR will have a good bedside manner and speak with the designer. If that were to happen, who knows what would be said between them. Perhaps Catwa doesn't open IM's when working and hadn't gotten to my messages. I can only make guesses at this time.

I did purchase one of her new hd pro heads on the alt I used to contact her with. I had tried gifting it to this account but was unable to do so.

I was surprised she hadn't also blocked and banned my alt as well, since I told her it's me. That's why I'm thinking she hadn't read my messages.

If she had, why didn't she give me the same treatment as this acct?

As for your question for reviews that are abusive:

Any type of harassment in a review should be reported. You can select hate speech. Wait at least 3 days. If the review is still there, submit a support ticket. Give a link to the product listing and ask them to read the review you flagged. Let them know you have reported the review but it hasn't been removed after 3 days. Hopefully the staff csr will then remove the harassing review.

  15. Fashion events that refuse to tick the box in about land, show in search.

I just had to go to Flickr to search for the name of the event, clicked on a poster in the hopes there is a slurl and got lucky that the blogger provided the slurl to get there.

I had even done the web search in-world as well, thinking it may be in Destinations. It's not.

The only thing I can think of as to why they don't want their event found through search, is to avoid griefers.

If it's not to avoid griefers, then what is the reason?

    It's very annoying and frustrating.

You have to scour social media just to find these events or be subscribed to a mailing list that sends out a list of events they picked, but it doesn't show every event that pops up on the grid.

  16. Somehow, today I see I am still in your applicants group as I'm going through my groups.

It wasn't there Monday, when I replied to this thread.

I was having issues rendering textures in a body hud and found out that it's a viewer issue.

I fixed it from help through the viewer group and now today, the group appears in my group list.

Glad to know I wasn't actually discriminated against, based on my profile details.

Thanks SL for ruining my experience.

  18. This is a very vague post. Are you looking for a scripter to help you build your furniture?

I suggest creating a new thread, with Looking for scripter for furniture.

Then more details inside your post.

People need these details before they go out of their way to message you in-world.
