  1. I have been thinking about this a great deal, because I am fairly new. I am a quiet, solitary (but not anti-social) person in RL. My SL life revolves around literature readings, discussion groups, and art. I am definitely more talkative in SL, but I say the sorts of things I would be thinking in RL, but less likely to say out loud. I read in someone's profile, "in SL we wear our insides on our outsides". I liked that. So I suppose I'm in the camp of "me, but less inhibited". And, yeah, I look better in SL - not extreme, just the way I would like to look in RL.
  2. Thanks folks. That's perfectly clear. Very much appreciated.
  3. I am quite new to SL. I have a human avatar that I am happy with. Now I would like to mod a non-human avatar to have as an option. I already have a few in my inventory to play with, but I don't know how to start. I'm afraid that anything I do will change the current avatar. How do I make the switch to begin something new? Help, please? Thanks.
  4. Mildly off-topic: In these sorts of graphics chip discussions, most SL folks suggest using a desktop rather than a laptop because we will get better performance. I really can't imagine having a great SL experience sitting at my desk. I want to be cozy when I am in my other worlds. Doesn't this bother other people?
  5. Thank you! These are exactly the sort of explanations I was hoping for. Time for me to explore. Much appreciation to all!
  6. Hi, I'm pretty new to SL. I am using Viewer 3 on a laptop with integrated graphics and a home DSL connection which is not amazing. The setup is usable. It takes a few moments for sims to to rez. Busy clubs with lots of avatars take the longest, and I can never really see the avatars in great detail. I generally go to lectures and readings which are pretty static so rez time is not too bad. Are any of the 3rd party viewers that I have heard mentioned better for lower end systems? Or are they all pretty much all the same? (And by the way, if you could upgrade either your internet connection or your graphics card to have a better SL experience, which would it be?) Thanks!
