So, I already told you guys I introduced one BFF (who has been using SL for years) to Belli this past week. Well, I logged into our friend group Discord tonight and he was there with one of our other BFFs who is new to SL as a whole and he had already helped her go premium and get her first linden home! She snagged this beautiful trailer on her first roll and she is ecstatic. Such a pretty private parcel with a lovely waterfall! Not bad for a first-timer!

I'd love a camper if they were 1024. Having them only be 512 seems like a waste to me. Like getting half the bang for our buck versus other linden homes. So I guess that's another requirement for my list right there, 1024 and 351 prims to work with. I get that they are tiny builds so they only require a small parcel, but just as houseboats are smaller but still give you the full space to rez watercraft, a 1024 camper lot could have the perk of being able to keep things light on the ground level to make room for a small skybox if you wanted or alternatively the ability to go ham on landscaping, campgrounds, that sort of thing. When stilts are released my requirement is to have them be land or boardwalk connected and not so high over the water that boats look awkwardly low when docked. And I find the completely landlocked ones just look silly, with those tall stilts and flat non-terraformed terrain underneath. While touring the demo sim, my friend and I were contemplating using mesh landform pieces for sand dunes and rocks underneath on those landlocked ones but that would eat a lot of prims that could be used elsewhere. I might play GoH for stilts but I will be VERY picky. They would have to be the perfect location and perfect height for me to keep them. Excited for the chalets though, I'll probably be happy just to snag any chalet upon release to play with for a bit before getting picky about details.

Ooh, yes! This one is particularly important to me for trads. Room for a garage or at least a driveway is VERY important! I don't feel this is important for log homes as horseback riding is more important to me there. And vics... It would be a plus, but not a deal breaker. But trads? I don't think I'd ever want a trad where I couldn't park a car. Sadly I prefer the Adams build for trads and that one is trickier for a full garage because of the width and the fact that I use the Teegle add on making it even wider, but I've currently got a matching attached carport by Chic Aeon and a large driveway that works nicely. (Editing to add a photo. Please excuse the unfinished landscaping, I'm still trying to figure everything out. I can't get the driveway quite flush with the sidewalk as it pulls under the ground in some places... even right in the middle, guess the ground wasn't completely flat. But this carport works nicely for those with vehicles who don't have space for a full garage. And at least even with the raised edge of that driveway irking me I can still drive a car in and out no problem.)

Ditto! I am definitely partial to the houseboats that are connected to land with a sparse neighborhood behind them as opposed to the ones that are just on a system of boardwalks. As much as I love the ability to hop into a boat, I also want the ability to be able to walk around the area or hop on a bicycle.

As I'm new I'm still figuring out all my criteria but this is what I'm currently looking at and what I know I will be factoring into my decision making in the future: 1. Parcel details. This is the first thing I look at and I'm probably not alone. Things like being on a corner, overlooking water, having nice mole landscaping built in, etc. I abandon land very fast if the home is just sandwiched between a bunch of houses with nothing unique going for it. Sunrise/sunset views could be important to some but as I have always used windlight settings and now FS has EEP it isn't as much of a biggie for me. 2. The neighbors. Getting away from eyesores is why many of us love Belli so much. Thankfully I haven't had too many problems, but I've seen them. The other night I was playing GoH with my friend and I grabbed a parcel he first said he liked because of the interesting landscaping. And then all of a sudden his voice dropped low and he said, "You need to abandon this. NOW." I laughed and said that was a quick turnaround in opinion and his response was simply, "Look across the street." Oooooh, boy. I have yet to see any other parcel that matched the horror of what the person across the street did to their property. There was so much hideous random decor strewn across their lawn and attached to their roof that I'm fairly certain the neighbors could make a covenant complaint. Flat prim image cut outs of foliage and different animals and objects (not holiday decor, just completely random stuff), I can't even describe it other than what you'd expect from old mainland. It was BAD. So... yep... I don't know if I would want to live across the street from that even if the parcel I snagged was amazing. Sure, you could derender the objects. But they wouldn't be derendered for my poor guests. 3. Nearby amenities & landmarks. This is one I need more experience with, as I truly haven't explored the vast continent enough to get a grasp of all the amazing treats the moles have built for us. But I think in the future finding property near certain builds and zones will come into play. I know many folks are also eager to find property near things like train lines. I still need to get out and about in each of my neighborhoods, walk in all directions, and see what's nearby. 4. Region name. This might be silly, but having a really cool region name is always a plus. I'm currently hanging on to a property that is very pretty but not as special as it could be because I really like the name of the neighborhood it is located in. 5. The lag situation. This likely plays heavily into point #2, but the lag on the parcel is something I'm making note of. Sadly probably the nicest parcel I have at the moment is experiencing lag and has a FPS half that of my others so I'm trying to figure out why and if it can be fixed. I'd rather not give it up but it might end up being a deal breaker.

So many beautiful properties with water being abandoned this week! Definitely has been a good time to snag a gem.

Agreed. The beauty of Belli has been bringing people out of their private islands who have craved the sense of community and exploration you can only get from mainland. I love it! And seeing how happy and eager for more exploration my friend was the other night with his new Belli home really cemented for me that this craving is not just felt from a few of us nutters posting here.

Buying land is always a huge temptation for me. Always has been. I spend at least a few hours a week looking over available parcels of mainland and checking in on the auctions. Mostly a lot of window shopping and "what ifs" but that streak of being sensible broke when I finally toured Belli and then again when I found a Bay City parcel for sale I instantly fell in love with this past week. A dream of mine would be to win the lottery and then invest in full mainland sims to landscape beautifully and rent parcels on. Partly because I'd have fun with it, also partly to try to embark on a mainland beautification project. Would it count as philanthropy to somehow snag sims with lots of water parcels and return all the water to empty and fully sailable? Ahahaha, I think it would.

THIS. So much this! While I am super happy to have four different LH parcels now that I adore I also crave the thrill of playing GoHs and snagging something new and exciting. It definitely hits the brain like a drug and there is a let down when you can't refresh that page anymore. I introduced a real life BFF of mine to Belli two nights ago, and already last night he was planning which of his alts is going to get a premium account tonight to go for another home. Uh oh.

I currently have an embarrasing amount of land. My main home is the only rental of the bunch, a full homestead in the private community of Templeton Cove. My oldest mainland is a bit over 4000 square meters by the Nailsworth bridge, and then I also have a 1024 in Bay City across from the Crystal Blue Pool I snagged recently and a 512 in Shermerville I'm probably going to sell. I have a couple thousand left in my tier so I'm keeping an eye out for something nice but priced under market in another cool place, maybe Nautilus City or Horizons (suggestions welcome for other interesting and/or aesthetically pleasing mainland spots!) And now that I discovered Belli I have acquired a Victorian on my main, a houseboat and log home on two alts, and a trad via my fiance's account. ... I'm a little addicted to land. All kinds of land, as long as it is pretty. Send help.

I don't know who let go of this parcel a little bit ago or why but if you're reading this... thank you! Water on two sides, road with a bridge on the others. Way more privacy than I've ever snagged before on a log home parcel. Seriously no regrets making a second alt account for this bad boy. Keeping it for the foreseeable future.

Thank you so much for sharing that thread! It has been lovely to read through and I don't think I would have found it otherwise. It is nice that, perhaps as an unintended side effect, LL has allowed those of us who enjoy land hunting an affordable outlet versus buying up actual mainland. I've spent many hours just clicking around on the map of mainland continents to see what is out there, but it is such a downer that even when you find a good parcel there you are at the mercy of your neighbors' builds and also having to deal with outdated mole landscaping around you. I really wish they would update the landscaping, especially in upscale old school places like Shermerville where I own a parcel... but then again, much of Shermerville has already been poofed out of existence and they may just phase out the whole darn thing in favor of the new direction they are going with Belliserria. It will be interesting to see where the next few years takes us (Bigger Belliserria parcels? Undeveloped Belliserria land? Would both just turn into the trainwreck we had in the past?). I read an old blog that talked about how Shermerville was a flop because SL residents don't want to live in a community, and I think that has been proven very wrong. The Lindens just didn't know how to implement it properly back in the day. Still trying to talk my fiance into going premium so we have a third account to catch and release with. I sat him down on the couch with me today when he got home from work to show him my Vic and houseboat and he was impressed, just not impressed enough yet for a third monthly subscription, bwahahaha. Thank you for this clarification as well, I like knowing that there are pros to both and I shouldn't feel too scared to release one houseboat parcel in order to roll for something different. Seems like they might not be as risky to lose as a particularly good home parcel.
