  1. Oh gosh, no, I definitely wouldn't do that. Not because I knew of the lag problem, but because when you link a whole ton it usually makes the LI increase as opposed to decrease. Generally it's just pairs or triplets and on rare occasions up to about 5 or 6 decor/clutter items if I get lucky and find a couple pairs linked will lower when linked once more to each other. A couple of paintings here, a vase and a rug over there, the clutter on my bathroom sink down the hall, etc. Little groupings that lower the LI 1-3 each. My basic goal is to get my decor/clutter LI halved with that method.
  2. That's awesome to know too! I haven't noticed any FPS drops after linking, but I will have to keep that in mind. Do you know if that is the case both with pairs and small groups or if the total LI of what is being linked makes a difference to that impact?
  3. Well, hello neighbor! I needed a distraction tonight too while that joint session was ongoing and I rolled a houseboat in Baby Buoy that I might be keeping. I like my Penitent Beach houseboat I've had for a while but now I'm having to decide which I want to keep. I told myself I only wanted a houseboat connected to the main continent (like Penitent Beach) but the Baby Buoy houseboat I grabbed is a square corner parcel (bottom right corner of the region) and has lower lag. It feels nice not being sandwiched between two other houseboats so maybe living on an island isn't so bad after all... Gonna have to decorate and see how it feels compared to the other one. Actually, question while I'm here... Does anyone know if the open water regions next to these new houseboat regions will stay open sailing water or if they will be filled with homes eventually? Some of the names I've seen hint at being reserved for sailing waters but not all.
  4. I don't know if you guys already do this, but I figured this might be a hot tip for anyone struggling with land impact... Whenever I am decorating, I go through everything and test link pairs of objects. As in, if I rez out two decor pieces, I shift copy them in order to test if linking the pair will lower their LI together. If they do lower, I delete my test pair and link the pair I want to use once they are in their place. And when I'm done with that, I go back through and test link the pairs to other pairs, as I find sometimes a group of 4 - 6 will lower the LI even further. I have saved A LOT of LI for extra decor and clutter with this method. Even if you only save 20, that's 20 you didn't have before. Just don't expect this method to work with any objects that are scripted with poses, as it tends to break the pose locations. Also, I wouldn't do this with gacha/no copy items of course. But with purely decorative copy/mod pieces it works great to squeeze as much as you can out of your 351 allowance. Fantastic for paintings, rugs, shelves, plants, all that clutter, etc.
  5. Hey friends! I just caught this OL stilt tonight that could be a great home for the right person. It has a little pond, a fair amount of space and greenery behind and to the side, and a rez zone right out front. Definitely more privacy than many other OL stilts and has some great features. It's also only one door down from a little tropical bar. I'm going to release it in roughly ten minutes, 10:30pm SLT.
  6. You did a great job! And you sound like me, every house must have an actual bathroom. Full stop. I'm not sure if it's because I'm a stickler for realism or if it's from too many years playing the Sims. SL avvies like to poop in privacy too, I'm sure! 😆
  7. WOW! You just changed my mind quite a bit in regards to OL stilts, two story stilts, and really just the stilts in general. I adore what you've done with your house and property. It looks fantastic! 😍
  8. Hopefully "after a few tries" means over time and not playing GoH today. We need to keep boosting that reminder NOT to abandon your parcels until after things are stabilized, per Patch himself! Sounding like broken records aside, the more it is posted the more people will see it. Let's also all pass on the word to any friends who might not be on the forums or in the group chat: Game of Homes is cancelled for at least a few days!
  9. That's what I was thinking too, as many people might not be following the updates from Patch and still put load on the system while they stabilize things. As long as it doesn't cause people who haven't even abandoned their old homes to try for a stilt I think a region-based disabling is smart to keep things running smooth!
  10. Yeah, sorry for the crossed wires, what I was just trying to express (probably poorly) is that I wasn't personally referring to or questioning the size of the actual mesh, but just the amount of visible stilt above whichever surface (land or water) the parcel is designated as. From my perspective, the physical size of those mesh stilts is irrelevant, but what is relevant is whether or not I can fit my avatar under the decks. If I can, the homes seem "taller" than if I can't. If I have two identical yard sticks and bury one of them two feet under the ground and the other one foot under the ground, the latter would appear to be a foot taller even though the sticks themselves are exactly the same. That's all I was trying to say 😀 And thank you so much for the explanation of how the parcel area is scanned, the technical side of things is always cool to hear more about! ❤️
  11. Seriously fantastic houseboat to give up, that was a very nice gift to the pool! Happy holidays indeed! 🥰
  12. So it's arguing semantics then, if I follow correctly? Not "Some stilt homes have longer stilts" but "Some stilt homes have longer VISIBLE stilts." based on their classification and rule differences (main floor height from ground vs. main floor height from water). And so as the ones on the shoreline are OL regardless of how much water they are over at their back half of course they follow the OL main floor height rule (as they are classified as such) and not the OW main floor height rule (as they are not classified). It only gives the illusion of different stilt heights because of these rule differences and the mixed land/water nature of the shoreline fellows.
  13. Oh my gosh, not only would I be down for a Belli theme like this, I just want some creators on SL to make a few houses in this modernist art deco style PERIOD! I have a Bay City parcel and I spent HOURS scouring the marketplace and TPing to all the leading architecture shops in world searching high and low for a house like this. And yep, I came up completely empty. The only thing I was able to find were some really old prim builds in this style by one particular seller on the MP. Nothing new and mesh at all. Really bummed that if you want to stick to the Bay City time period and have a nice mesh house you have to go craftsman. I would be overjoyed to see these done justice in Belli.
  14. I think I know what Jewell meant about the length of the stilt legs though. Even if the models all have stilts the same length, the way they are placed on the ground changes how long they feel. I remember that was one of my first observations walking the demo sim. Some of the stilt homes connected to land at the front but over the water at the back seemed to have those attached lower back decks that were way more above the waterline than the ones fully in water or on the pier. I remember noting that on some parcels especially, if you have a smaller boat that lower deck would still be above your head.
  15. Scroll up a bit past our chatter and there is some discussion about the delay. This quote from Patch comes courtesy of Evangeline: Patch Linden: We can't until an engineer can fix the issue with experience tools grid-wide... I've got my fingers crossed but the issue is largely out of my team's hands unfortunately https://status.secondlifegrid.net/incidents/ly5y8kymqzn0
  16. Ahahaha, I feel that. I have a houseboat neighbor with full bright neon pink rugs sticking out of her walls. I mean, hey... I don't want to stifle anyone's, uh, creativity... I just don't necessarily share their artistic vision. Derendering is often a must! 🤣
  17. I can't speak for everyone else, but for me the lack of privacy thing isn't really a privacy thing. After all, you can set it so no one outside your parcel can see or hear you. It's an aesthetic thing for me, not being a fan of what I see out my windows or even just from my backyard/deck.
  18. Yes! And there is more to it as well with real life versus Second Life. In real life they are usually closer together and more uniform than their SL counterparts. I was drooling over the first picture with the more modern minimalist stilts. They have much more of a city condo vibe to me, which is more my style. But if those were in SL they'd just look like ugly boxes and I'd hate them! Funny how that is, hahaha!
  19. I've seen the perimeter lines on other regions you can walk where the homes have not yet been released. I was touring a log home region like that the other day. It was an unnamed one. Not sure exactly what the lines are for though, if it is just a planning remnant that hasn't yet been removed or something else useful to the moles pre-release or what. Also... Daphne is looking pretty nice in that shot, even to a stilt hater like me. That's probably the most appealing aerial view I've seen so far, I really want to go there and walk around. Something about the amount of land lining the piers and the density of trees. I'm really curious if it would feel different on ground level than the other regions I chose to wander around in yesterday or if it's just the angle of your great pic!
  20. Same, I don't want to be a Debbie Downer either. I'm still chuffed to bits by this release because it is making so many people happy and gives more for us to explore. Not every home style and neighborhood layout will be for everyone. There are plenty of people who don't like logs or trads or vics... it's not that they are bad builds or regions, they just don't suit their style or their needs. All regions have beauty to them and I enjoy walking around and taking in the scenery. Plus, with those of us who are likely skipping stilts, it's just more in the pool for those who will really love them!
  21. Seeing the doors is really exciting, because one of the things I've wished from looking at add ons for other homes is that some kind full perm mesh creator out there would make matching interior doors for each home style. The home model I choose is heavily dictated by the quality of the add ons available... The ones that are original mesh where the creator modeled the doors and molding off the linden homes are the ones I spring for. Now with internal doors in the content pack, I'd feel pretty confident I could grab some general full perm walls and piece together my own custom interior layout and make it pretty seamless. Matching molding would be icing on the cake! This is also exciting because of the upcoming open plan chalets. They are allowing us to customize more and more with each new home style release. So much praise to the team for giving us beautiful homes and listening to our wants and needs. 🥰
  22. Let's hope, because if those are hot dogs they've been out in the sun for a few too many days. Weeks? Months? 🤢
  23. Please tell me those are just some kind of veggie dog or pickle. Please.
  24. I have to be honest that I'm not a fan for all the reasons you've listed. The stilts make me realize exactly how much nice mole landscaping and privacy are important to me. The water ones have zero privacy and I was noticing even the sailing water can be really narrow, the fully landlocked ones have some privacy but I hate how stilts look on land, and then there's the pier ones which would be what I'd go for but I'd need one to be perfect. I was walking around the currently released sims and I did find a couple pier ones that I could see myself in, one in particular was the first on a pier off land and it had nice wide sailing water out the back and then the side closest to land had good wide landscaping. But snagging a parcel like that would be a needle in a haystick.
