  1. No, I found that the jealousy and extreme emotional responses and irrational argument with little logical justification merely increased my sense of isolation. Alone in a multitude. Perhaps it was because SL attracted coders who had enough of mandatory punctuation and strict grammar in their scripting to want to ignore it in the infrequent occasions when they communicated with their fellow human beings directly, or perhaps it was because SL attracted visual types, who believed that a picture was worth a thousand words, even if most of the 1,000 were monosyllables, incorrectly spelled. Or maybe SL attracted closeminded fantasists who didn't want their bigoted fetishes threatened and their delusional bubbles popped. There are lots of possible explanations. Anyway, I had to go outside SL's properties to find a true sense of community, among a bunch of likeminded people who were prepared to disagree without being disagreeable, who were not constrained by political correctness and who had both a sense of proportion and a sense of humour. It's invitation only now though, but if you show yourself worthy maybe one day . . .

Just the facts, with no hyperemotional schtick. That's the sort of response I appreciate. Those others sound like my wife, who doesn't even like getting off her backside to hand me the TV remote.
  3. Eloise Baily wrote: Now I'm intrigued. Where were you going to slot "nicest" in? ETA: Scrub that. It sounds wrong in MANY ways Unfortunately I can't link you to it because it has disappeared into the unexplained black hole of the forums. I am amused that a typo for "nicest" is not bleeped out by the ***bleep*** filter, but that any thread that even mentions the possibility of relations between already related relations is nuked at conception - despite it actually being legal in some states of the USA and most countries globally!
  4. Roseysun Galicia wrote: As mentioned in the Blog post Gratitude Guest Bloggers and in the post here there is an event going on until the end of today. It might explain the sticky. That, as I explain to my kids, is an excuse, not a reason.
  5. Eloise Baily wrote: Correcting your spelling? OK, I meant to type "nicest", but the typo made it more interesting . . .
  6. So far today we have seen it used for sticky-back plastic spamming and propaganda, as well as for read-only news feeds. What else do you think it could be used for, given that it is not paper, so the obvious recycling option is not available?
  7. I am a very powerful Dom also, scripts, and your Domme told me to tell you that you had to send me lots of presents too! So run along and start ordering them, and make sure they are wrapped up nicely as well.
  8. Second Life is home to a multiplicity of so-called "communities" that are loose associations of fantasists who exploit the anonymity and lack of moral code to indulge their fetishes and bigotries. What have your experiences been of meeting BDSMers, Goreans, Feminists and anti-furries? Has it made you think again about your own bigotry or reinforced your irrational feelings? Tell everyone about it here! In fact, I'll start it off. SL has made me reconsider my attitudes to rape, marriage, fidelity and incest. You don't get that from a game of monopoly (tm) do you!
  9. Share your favorite songs that describe Second Life here. I'll start it off:
  10. Share your favorite pies here. I'll start it off by saying that Humble Pie is certainly not on my list!
  11. Carrie's Lingerie sounds interesting Ariel, so thanks for the hint. Does it have mixed changing rooms?
  12. Irene Muni wrote: Old thread. Any solutions? You're just trying to inflate your post count Irene! Don't you remember - you don't get any points or kudos for posts here!

Answering questions for residents and actually being involved? Wow... Unbelievable Now we have someone named 'Linden'. Who is he/she? Who knows? It has been asked several times and ignored. Unbelievable. It is rumoured that all Lindens will be subsumed into a gestalt personality over the week's break between Christmas and New Year, following which 100% of external communications will be conducted with a single, hydra-headed construct using the name "Linden Lab". Torley will be the last to be assimilated, turning the collective's dull grey sheen into a coruscating faeces-hued facade.
  14. Thanks LoveAngel, but I have a feeling the two places you mention may be in my list of "free - except the stuff that isn't" places. I'll check again and report back.
  15. Thanks Theresa and Innula. You have to dig through a lot of Fab Free to find the odd male freebie though - and mainly it is a freebie for the odd male!

CBA jumping around wannabe designers who hide their minimised hunt tokens in satellites and mines, even changing the published name of the gift so you can't find it using the Phoenix area search facility. Although maybe I'll send the gf out to look and she can tp me when she has found the stuff, so thanks for the idea.

  18. The sense of community in SL increasingly reminds me of that enforced upon the population in 1984. Can I call you "Big Brother" Linden Lab?

FIFY Aw, don't be so cruel to yourself, Robbie. Isn't a public lack of self-esteem a terrible thing in a robot?
  20. Mayalily wrote: I'd have to venture a guess and say lack of sponsor's (as in advertisment) as the main reason. If LL had sponsor's, Sponsor's whats, Mayalily? Or to put it another way, erm . . . sponsor's whats?
  21. I thought I might use the money to buy - eventually - a better graphics card which supports the more resource hungry mesh-equipped viewers, so that those avatars wearing mesh clothes didn't look ridiculous, with rubber swimring aids around their hips. Although I might miss all the ladies being topless.

Or will you close that meeting group as well and shift everything to the Adult Forums? Hi Roseysun - Good question. You might want to ask that question in the Adult Forum. I am pretty sure there is an actual Linden in there to read and answer your question. I am not sure how often they visit this one. Cinn And isn't that really a shame? :matte-motes-bored: Well, they have moved empty promises to Rodvik's feed - where you can't comment unless you are one of the inner sanctum and unlikely to rock the boat. Rodvik's feed, like the posts made on this forum recently by Linden Lab in the GD section are the digital version of the flyers I receive daily in my mailbox, fit only for wrapping fish scraps or lining the kitty litter bin. Save the World! Recycle Linden feedstuffs!
  23. Exhortation is desperation. Just my opinion too.
  24. Venus Petrov wrote: Hi Linden! Usually when someone creates an OP, they provide some introduction to the topic and perhaps share something related to the topic. Then, the OP will pop back in now and then to comment or add to the discussion. So, what are some of the nicest SL compliments YOU have ever received OR given? (see what I did there?) What are you thankful for this Holiday season? Perhaps this Linden has never had any compliments?
  25. Join Facebook instead. There are millions of people on there desperate to be your friend, and they don't have any standards.
