  1. All true, I'm not arguing. What I have done is good enough for now. Maybe I'll go with land map later. I am surprised that flexi's won't work though. Thanks for the advice everyone.
  2. I'm sure it's a fine product, but overkill for my needs. I guess the answer to my question is "no" then. Thanks
  3. Yes I know about land map and it does a good job, but since my parcel is quite small I was hoping to avoid spending 1500L for this. There is no way to build a flexi for this?
  4. Is there a way to make a prim that lays flat on the ground and follows the contors of the land?
  5. We both eventually got a few things back in the form of the coallesced objects. We got the region owner to roll the sim back and everything else appeared where it was supposed to be. A nasty situation, it had us worried. Thanks
  6. I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this. My girl friend and I are renting land and we both recieved messages that the parcel was full and some of our objects were being returned to our Lost and Found. We returned home and a lot of our stuff was gone from where it had been rezzed. A lot. Neither of us has anything in our Lost and Found after multiple relogs. We are not over on our prim count by a good 600 prims so that can't be it. What happened? Do we have any recourse?

  8. I am indeed giving it a shot. I enjoy scripting but not building so much. I've done some pretty cool things so far that I'm particularly proud of.
  9. Yes, all good advice and I thank everyone for their suggestions. Unfortunately I can't do any of the things suggested, because I can't modify the scripts in the doors and I can modify the doors. Like I said, no my house. My original concept was to have an invisible prim detect a collision (an avi stepping on it) and sending a touch event to the door, but since events can't be sent from on prim to another it's all a theoretical exercise. Thanks.
  10. All true, yes. But it won't work for me. Looking back I see I neglected to mention this, I don't own the house or the doors and I can modify the scripts that open the doors. So I can tell it what channel to listen on. I can't even see the code to find out if it is listening on any channel. That's why I have said that listening will not help me do this. I have to be able to send a touch to the doors to get them to open. Since I can't do that it looks like this will not work. Thanks
  11. Again, doors wouldn't react to something said, they react to a touch. And if they did react to something said what channel are they listening on? Like I said, I doubt it is possible to do this for every door, but it would be cool
  12. Thank you but I don't see how this helps. Doors don't respond to messages they respond to touch. And even if they did respond to messages how would I know what channel they listen on. I am looking for a way to cause any door to open when an avi approaches. Like an invisible prim that sites on the floor under the door. When an avi approaches the invisible prim detectes the collision and sends the touch message to the door. Apparently there is no way to do this.
  13. It gets to be a pain, after a while, to have to stop and touch a door to walk through it. So I was wondering if it would be possible to build something that would react to a collision and send a touch even to a nearby door. That way the door would open as I approached. Ideally it would work for any door that responded to a touch. Am I out of my mind or is this possible?
  14. Sounds good. I'll do some experimenting and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the help, I'm sure there will be more questions to come.
  15. Because I didn't know a texture was required, foolish me. I assume I need a texture that goes from light to dark? Is there something appropriate in the library?
