Question is, do they *have* to say it?! Or, put differently, is our inability to find a statement (I haven't look for one, but I believe you) on their website, or wherever, an immediate sign of being suspect? I hope not. As for violence occuring, yes, "looting s a very, very common outcome of these protests." But isn't looting a very, very common outcome of pretty much all social unrest? Not condoning looting, in any way; just saying I see no reason to link looting and violence to BLM per se. They seem to be more confrontational about it, true. But considering nothing is ever being done, substantially, with all-white juries as good as constantly clearing these cops, one has to wonder whether getting angrier is not also a very, very common outcome of years and years of injustices perpetrated upon you.

And you and Beth, and Marcia, were totally right on the need to listen. Remember how that guy set Luna straight, a few days ago, on diagnosing ppl over the net? That's how I felt here today: when the real experts arrive, those who actually know what they're talking about, from real knowledge, or from having lived it, I wisely stay quiet. It was good to hear from actual black ppl in this thread.

I always suck at names, but there was this US journalist who basically said "The police have a legal right to kill you." And by 'you' an unarmed black man was meant, of course. They can shoot you in the back, just say you had a knife or something (even when you were just holding a phone), and they'll get away with it, scotfree. Every Time. Except when that sweet Australian lady was gunned down, by a black cop no less. Then the wheels of justice moved really, really fast, suddenly. THAT should radically change: black lives should get the exact same consideration; you know, as if their lives matter too.

This thread has been moving too fast again. Just want to make sure I, nor Beth, nor anyone else I know, has ever even hinted at her being a racist. Of course she's not. My point has just simply been this: invite me to a studio, put some cameras on me, with a bunch of other ppl, tell us we're going to talk about a certain aspect of the 'The Meaning of Life' today, namely whether all lives matter equally or not and I will merrily do the whole generic philosophical debate thang. I like you, Scylla. A lot. And I like Gatogateau. A lot. And I really hate being in a fight with either of you. In this case, though, I feel I must remain steadfast in my belief that All Lives Matter, in this context, is unnecessarily hurtful, and that it actually helps the detractors in their racism. And no, I'm not a complete moonbrain. I understand, to the fullest, what Gato meant, and in what generic context she meant to place it. But, ultimately, I think it's not about my ability, or alleged inability, to understand where's she coming from (which I know to be a totally benign place), but how I feel All Lives Matter (capitalized or no) impacts others, or enables others even. Outside of this thread, though, meet me in the aforementioned studio, and we'll talk a blue streak. Or maybe we won't, really, as I have yet to find someone here even suggesting not all lives matter.

When *I* think of the term PC, I think of "P.C. Principal" (South Park). But he's just from a silly animated cartoon. However, being considerate of how a certain specifically worded slogan (i.e. All Lives Matter) might be triggery for some people, especially when said term is literally being used by some very unsavory folks to detract from their cause, then I see nothing so heinous about not using that term: not because someone tells me I can't use it, but simply because I consider it common courtesy.

My point was not literally about numbers (even though I asked 'how many?'), but simply to evoke a realization (whilst ppl were contemplating the number), that police brutality -- the kind you can find on youtube, where a white officer just shoots and kills a black man from across the street -- is an occurance, which, if it even happens at all, happens so rarely, that most ppl likely can't recall a single instance.

Every time I see the word kerfuffle, my mind just reads COVFEFE. (Yeah, obvious attempt at injecting some levity into the situation; but, equally obvious, needed, I think).

It really pains me to hear you say stuff like "If other liberals want to "take out" a relatively like-minded person for it, so be it." Not because I feel hurt by it, personally, but because I, for my part, have absolutely no intention of doing any such thing, ever. Hell, I support your position, in full, that every life matters. And I celebrate your every right and conviction to hold on to that, and defend it. And I will help you do it, even. It's just, yeah, I see a huge difference between All Lives Matter, the movement/hashtag, and all lives matter, the thought, as it were. And I also firmly believe you, quite obviously, want no part of the former.

I was a mite bewildered to hear Fairre go on about Native Americans and the casinos they've been 'given' (whereas I'm pretty sure they worked to acquire those themselves *boggle*), but I honestly believe she means to do right (but rarely gets it right, so to speak).

FWIW, I do not lump you in with the 'deflectors.' Had never even occured to me. And I doubt Amina did either. There's always a place and a time for everything, though. And when someone (not you) suddenly brings up 'All Lives Matter', in a thread about 'Black Lives Matter,' then I cannot help but feel both time and place were off.

All Lives Matter, of course. My only gripe with that was, that this was never in question to begin with. Like ever. Nary a one even dreamed of suggesting otherwise, I'm sure. So, seeing this truism suddenly brought up, by Paul, why, that triggered MY suspicion bone.

We agreed on a lot in this thread, but that term, 'brain damage', I think you may be using it too much. Last thread we were in, you accused almost everyone disagreeing with you of suffering from some form of TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). I get that this is funny, especially when applied to Trump and such, LOL, but probably loses effectiveness a bit, after a while.
