I got extremely frustrated trying to do something similar. I dug around for tutorials and came up with nothing, but I eventually figured it out and tonight I've thrown together a quick and dirty tutorial to help others.

It's actually really simple once you know how. It would be extremely helpful of LL to give us some basic tutorials like this on new features once they release them, rather than leaving us to figure it out on our own.

Not sure if it will help others, but confusing for me was the whole 'Day Settings' thingy. I kept trying to Apply old, saved windlights (converted to EEP). They would show, but would never take (Firestorm).** Finally someone suggested I drag & drop an EEP object into the 'Sky Altitudes' area (like to the right-hand side of 'Ground'). Then it took! In fact, I did nothing with 'Day Settings', really. Just dropped in my converted windlights, and that eventually did it. :)

** My guess is that I got confused trying to press that 'Customize' button, which then tries to load a Day Setting, for which I only provided a sky windlight EEP (which it then doesn't accept). So, not bothering with 'Day Settings' at all, and just dragging & dropping in the EEP worked, and proved to be quite easy, once I got the hang of it.

After an AMAZING 1 million views, the original thread "How Does Your Avatar Look Today" has, shall we say... evolved.

The Intention here is to give everyone a venue to show off and showcase your avatars! YAY!

     A few basic "agreements" if you choose to post here;

1- This is a photography centric thread based on you/your avatar in SL. 🥰

2- Please keep comments supportive, friendly and/or constructive.

3- All disagreements and personal issues should be aired privately and NOT IN PUBLIC.😡

4- Please keep reposting limited to special posts (in your opinion) and please be considerate to others by NOT SPAMMING THE THREAD.

5- Lets' keep it a FUN  place for us all to create and discover Art, Community, Passion and Inspiration. ~ SARA  :)

So I took this a month or so back and posted it cause...well, I forgot too! I think it was at Drune? I'll figure it out and edit this before it get locked down! So excited to see your photos!!!!

Thank you for this new thread, Sara! And for the clear guidelines/rules governing this thread: it creates clarity. :)

Looking back over the forums you at least asked her to go away as well and quoted her. Suggestion for you to 'ladies' go get another same minded as yourselves and a cauldron and you are well on the way. What you two are doing is just as close to bulllying as it comes. Go figure,

Let me explain this to you. At first, like many others, I thought she was just trolling or something. After all, these things happen on a forum. She made an empty post, then quoted her own empty post, etc. Then it was @LittleMe Jewell who first alerted me to the possibility we, aka me, might be judging her too fast, and I backed off. And she was more right than I imagined even. Here's what BeautifulXu  said about herself, a bit later:

    her own words

That should say it all. At least to me, it was a stark reminder there's almost always more than meets the eye. Beth recently said something about ppl maybe having brain damage (not related to BeautifulXu, btw), and that we rarely, if ever, know their true situation from the way they're posting. Reading BeautifulXu's own words, at least she says she was in the hospital, and she seems to have experienced memory loss, near as I can tell. It doesn't matter, I don't need to know. What I do know, is that she, thru her many posts here, expressed a persistent desire to be part of this community. And, as far as I'm concerned, she is very welcome here, in whatever capacity she is fit. Period.

    I am sorry, Moira.

    Your photos are great.

And people should be allowed to air their viewpoints.

Including BeautifulXu, who is really the person who has been jumped on in this thread rather unfairly.

    Hence my reaction.

It truly looked like she was being bullied - and I cannot stand people bullying.

Zactly. You don't get to play the 'Boo-hoo, I was just timidly voicing my opinion, and now ppl are mean to me!' card, when you are yourself the bully. Doesn't work like that, Laika. Nor does "I was just saying what I know other people think." Other ppl can speak for themselves just fine, thank you. Own your own words.

Other than making a few light-hearted comments, BeautifulXu has done nothing wrong. You don't like what she writes? Scroll is your friend.

Just to make things clear, Kiramanell, I never shoo-ed anyone off to FLICKR.  I made the suggestion to Laika because you can go through a lot of avatar art photos without any comments and it's a nice experience on FLICKR (secondlifeoffical FLICKR) and it's relaxing.

No one has to take my advice but people should check it out sometime - the official Second Life photography group on FLICKR.

I also said make a compromise and start a photos only/no comments photo thread here on the forum...just be sure to spell out the no comments part in the title otherwise people may not see it's a no comment photo thread.

Just wanted to make clear what I said here.

I wasn't talking about you, Fairre. :) I was referring to Orwar's comment to me, to be precise. And I like your recent participation in this thread, and your works.

I think people should be able to voice a frustration without everyone else jumping in or on with their viewpoints.

And, likewise, I think people should be able to voice a frustration about others constantly judging other posters in this thread. Personally, I'm sick and tired of this small clique, constantly seeking the opportunity to judge other ppl. Take this, for instance, posted by Laika: "I am polite I asked you nicely to stop commenting stupid stuff so did other people." 'Stupid stuff?!' That's where we're at now?! That is neither polite, nor supportive. It's just outright mean. And I'm sorry, we can't all be Scylla, and write beautiful prose. People just give what they have.

This isn't about a personal dispute, it's about this thread being derailed and made unwelcoming because people spam it with reposts - something which moderators in the past has posted in this thread to say should be avoided, and pointed out that doing so may lead to the thread being locked. I for one think it would be a darned shame if this thread got locked after how much has gone into it, because of a few people who has no respect for the rules and no respect for the people around them.

It's actualy ppl like you who constantly make ppl feel unwelcome (like me). ''Respect for the people around them." includes swallowing your own narrow views on how you would like the flow of this thread to go, instead of passive-aggressively attacking ppl for doing things differently, at every turn you get.

With that said, I'm going to ask @Kristen Linden for an official ruling. Because I'm tired of the BS.

i am disrupting the thread? really who made you the one one who says what is right?

The same could be asked of you, of course. :)

There are those, like yours truly, who love to comment on a photo. For support, really, and encouragement, but mainly because I love expressing what I like about it. I don't do negative comments. And the ppl I have left a comment for, I haven't had complaints yet.

See, I think there's a huge difference between derailing what is essentially a photo thread, with politics, or otherwise totally off-topic stuff, and commenting on a photo -- the latter of which is totally on-topic. And, lest there was unclarity, the topic starter never stated a 'Photos only' policy. Obviously, the idea was to show how one's avatar looks; but there's no law says ppl can't be commenting on those pictures.

And with 'commenting' I mean including quoting the picture as well. For instance, I could just say 'Nice picture, Laika!' But, whilst you yourself may then have a vague inkling as to which one I am referring to, most ppl won't. In fact, a cogent case could be made, arguing a single 'Nice picture, Laika!', with no context (aka picture), is far more spammy than just including the photo. And getting shoo-ed off to Flickr, sorry, but yeah, that doesn't work for me.

  9. Inspired by @FairreLilette's beautiful moon chair, I realized I had a moon too, but you can't sit on mine. :) It's inside a (like 50cm deep) alcove, faux window with backdrop, in the bedroom of one of my many homes.

    "Talking To The Moon"

    "Talking To The Moon"

EDIT: Few accent changes, and less obtrusive border.

Love how your petite avi has all the traits of your 'tiny' portrait (which is also beautiful, btw: so much detail on a such a small surface, and it expressed the same frailty, as it were, as your human counterpart). ❤️

Taken at Cascadia. If you do visit this lovely sim, please don't lean on the railings! The one behind me looks like an accident waiting to happen.

Peace out, girl! 😍 Love the bag, btw: as aways, everything is so well color-coordinated.
