Would you know if I can retrograde to Vista by replacing the HDD in my old laptop? Win8 and this old chipset won't let me use SL or Minecraft. And both Gateway and intel say they won't be updating my drivers. The files Lifento suggested don't work.

And I've had the same problem as well. My laptop isn't as new as I thought it was, so it's not being supported any longer. Can you tell me if you've had any luck solving your issue yet?

Love your tip, but I'm skeptical. And when I looked for the "driver installed" (igdlh11.inf), I find it's actually a PNF file. Then I learn that the PNF is "Precompiled Setup Information." So, is it OK to rename or delete this?

Yea, I've been unable to run SL since I updated to Win8. Both Firestorm and the SL default viewer tell me to update my graphics drivers. I have a Gateway NV58 which isn't on Gateway's list to provide new drivers.
