  1. Hi there. Opening my mouth  on this subject as a creator and having helped start and run a gacha event for some years.

Gacha's were fine in the beginning prior to events. When it was a rare treat to stumble over them or fun to make them.

Organized events, and large groups of people is where it lead to unprofessionalism, drama, aggressive competition and pettiness.

I never depended on the machines or events, so I de-commissioned my machines as soon as I heard the news because I didn't want to deal with panic buying or scalpers especially if I release my content again. I do NOT want to leave a bad taste in my customers mouths with this transition.

With that being said. I absolutely do not support any randomized vendors. Even IF you can see what you are buying. Can you imagine people scrambling for a machine that shows a rare up-coming? Or people entirely avoiding a machine because everyone refused to buy one undesirable object? Or sims lagging and people losing the money or the object?

We can do better than this. Do hunts, do gifts, lucky chairs, midnight madness, do tokens you trade in for an event only item, do limited editions do craftables. Do anything but make the customer feel like we are trying to squeeze money.  Bring back avatar release events.

Raise the price. Let them buy what they want.

  2. As a rule of thumb. If someone is not going to pay me 8-10$ an hour for my work it's not worth my time. I can easily spend that time doing the same work and getting more money long term due to selling it publicly to everyone on second life.

I do understand that we all start from somewhere, but we shouldn't confuse "our internship period" where we are growing and taking what we can get.. with having mastered and become proficient in skills.

Personally if someone wants a project done they'll work with me and be flexible in the case they don't have a lot of money. Or I reference them to someone else I may know who is in their "internship period".. otherwise I turn down most of the requests I get. Or I throw the ball back in their court to contact me in a few days after I've gotten other work done and they don't bother to contact me.

So if you are skilled enough to do all the work and sell it yourself there's no reason to eat into the "internship market" where you'll probably be underpaid and fighting with non-serious customers who are trying to get a project done for cheap.

As I told another creator friend the other day. If someone expected a whole completed avatar for under $500... Then they can go take the time themselves to go and say LEARN how to make it themselves. Because if they think that $80 of effort is what it takes. Then why are we even being asked in the first place?

  3. I updated my mac to the new operating system yosemite. I updated and installed the newest firestorm viewer and after a short time of being on voice with people or being in the range of people on voice my sound input goes silent and everyone who can hear me if I'm talking says I sound like a static robot. I'll have to stop and pull my headset USB out of the port and plug it back in to reset it, but it's a short time until it does it again.

My preferences are already set to input and output for this head set. There isn't any sound drivers I'm aware of needing to update since it's included in the system updates I've been doing? Not sure.

I'm usually in a skype call when this happens, haven't tried it without.

I also noticed the vivox logs from voice that would be left on my computer ( I would need to delete them after a while otherwise my sound quality on itunes would degrade if I had too many of those files created) are NO longer showing up on my computer.

I'm wondering if that has anything to do with that.

    Help?

  4. A week ago I was uploading items to my merchant outbox. Out of two sets of items, there was one that wouldn't go through. It was packaged in a prim box.

I thought at the time it had something to do with SL marketplace acting up as it does at times when they are updating it.

I waited about a week, tried a few times to upload the last time. Each time it would get stuck spinning and would not initialize.

I sent in a ticket to support. I was told I was having "packet loss issues" vaguely and to fix my internet. I have been with this provider for nearly a year now and I haven't had any issues that affected SL directly until now.

I went on an alt account, and I was able to upload prim boxes to the marketplace without issue. I switched between accounts to test this and every time my main account would still be stuck intitalizing.

I re-opened the ticket and all I was told that "your packet loss is now at 24% instead of 17%" and something vague about inventory items.

So what I have tried so far to resolve this.

~ Merchant uploading works flawlessly on my alt account (doesn't have the same inventoy because I haven't set up my second business yet)

~ I brought my inventory from 31K items down to just under 12K items. This did not fix the issue.

~ I went on the marketplace and I deleted all the merchant listings waiting to go live (couldnt since I was missing that last product so I thought best to clear this out)

~ I deleted all the old unlisted products I was retiring and no longer going to sell.

~ I have updated and re-installed my viewer twice.* Now a third time, again another clean installation.

~ I have tried syncing the marketplace with magic box button.

~ I have restarted my computer multiple times

~ I have restarted the modem in the house, a few times at different times of the day.

~ I have attempted this when no one else was using the internet, and both in the middle of the day and evening.

~ I am on a mac and there is no virus scanner/virus blocker.

~ I have submitted a JIRA and it's been looked at but nothing is happening.

~ I hard wired my computer in. This changed nothing my account still kept spinning.

~ I had a close friend log into my account on a different internet connection and it was still stuck.

Things I have to try next

~ Have my business partner who as a store log into my account and see if they can do anything.

    ...

    This is really dumb.

  5. My name is Phoebe and I am the owner of The violet vixen. I am also the co-owner of Violet Vixen & Black Heart

Me and my partner Isfrael are both illustrators/designers and create content for SL such as clothing, accessories and mod kits for the furry community. We are both 3d models with experience with blender & maya.

We rack in about a grand a month between the two of us, we also have a joint brand, Squirt which will be featuring adult toys. (Our last scripter disapeared when we were finishing the hud so the project froze =\)

What we are looking for is a scripter who is 100% professional, has good communication skills and the ability to complete projects in a timely manner and not disapear halfway through.

I've been having this issue with flakey scripters for the longest time. There is a lot of money to be had however not many scripters are willing to put in the leg work that me and Isfrael have put in to make the money we do now. It's not an overnight deal, it requires a lot of work.

Cuts would start out at 5% per product with a script and this is both inworld and on the marketplace. I have experience creating textures for huds and understanding of how they are put together. The more determination we see, the more projects we will allow to have scripts which means more money that continuely rolls in.

Some of our work will need scripters who can:

Work with UUID's and texture changing

    Saving preset settings for colors

    HEX color changing options

    Color picker options

    States, hidden layers

Work with ADULT or FURRY related material without issues.

Movement such as ears & tails and/or wings

    re-size and re-position scripts

    -

We take this very seriously and by creating an adult line we want to target more customers and bring in more money however for this to work correctly we need a dedicated scripter who is willing to work as hard as we have to get where we have gotten. If not you will not make money. There's no magic in making it. Just hard work.

  7. I'm going to leave it as it is. I was expecting more people to come back with their tips to build on but we have people raging instead.

I've worked for tech support before and honestly you have to approuch it for someone who doesn't know the system inside and out. It's so easy to forget your audience, throw tons of information at them and expect them to "figure it out"

    That's terrible customer service.

Also I have spent endless hours on here and in the support sections for answers and found nothing also wathced all the you tube videos, I guess Im an idiot when it comes to these fine tuned things. I finally had to resolve the multiple issues I've ran into via submiting tickets and waiting for an answer. This is just a straight forward "Walk in a line" and you'll be okay.

For people who were offended, I apologize if you took it that way but as my mom always said, if you dont have something nice to say, don't say anything and let a thread die instead of mauling it like pack of rabid bears. You wasted your time and the time of other people looking for answers.

  8. I am getting tired of seeing pages, and pages worth of "instructions" when it's a simple process. There's little know hows that are also not easily made available. Thought I'd put down my experiences so far and what to NOT do when dealing with the DD migration.

    1. Copy the contents of the magic box to your inventory. (Make sure to label the folder for these items)

    2. Optional Step: Unpack boxes and sort into appropriate folders.

    3. Now your ready to migrate! Open your Merchant outbox.

    Tips:
    a. Folders can only be FOUR folders deep.
    b. You can only upload 20 folders at a time.
    c. You can only upload 100 items at a time.
    d. Drop folders in the drop section to avoid putting folders, in other folders.
    e. The name of the folder will be the name of the product.

    4. Add your folder, and send to market place!

    Tips:
    a. Sometimes you will see "failed to send to market place" just refresh your merchant listing and wait to see if it hasn't already uploaded.
    b. Be paitent, leave the computer, go do something else otherwise it will be a slow and painful process.

    5. ONLY create new listings if you have NOT listed a product before.

    Tips:
    a. Edit the OLD listing, then click "EDIT ASSOCIATED OBJECT" then select the new item.
    b. Update the item title.
    c. Don't forget to switch the useage requirements to fit the product.

Whatever you do, DO NOT delete old listings and re-list as new objects to update them. Unfortunately Linden Labs did not expect people to make these mistakes
and in this case, can possibley result in a listing being banned/blocked due to breaking TOU. In that case you'll need to submit a ticket and explain what's going on.

If you did delete a listing, the best thing I can recommend is to make a note in the description ANY LABEL CHANGES and that it was ACCIDENTLY deleted to
prevent people from flagging it since there is no safeguard in this situation, and you'll have your product offline/loss in sales.

Additional, if you are having any issues, the quickest result is to contact via support ticket. Tell them exactly what's going on, and what you need resolved, and wait for a response.

TO UPDATE A FOLDER. Simpley add the updated folder to the merchant outbox, and send. Open up your listings, check the contents if still not updated, go into edit associated object, select and update. But just updating the folder with the same name will update the contents.

  9. Tested this theory, NO it doesnt not delete the listings from your manage listings. You still have to delete them one by one. Still very concerned other products will get blocked because of this idiocracy.

Seriously LL needs to anticipate people not only migrating their merchant outboxes but also UPDATING labeling on older products to fix them.

  10. Things also unsaid that need to get said:

    1. If your merchant outbox is frozen or stuck initlizaing it needs a support ticket to be fixed. Send it in, wait 24 hours. Then you should be good.

    2. Do not keep your magic box listings running. Delete thme before you add the direct delivery because if you forget and leave one running they will ban the listing.

  11. So, yeah one issue after another, marketplace is teeming with people with similar issues with no answers and now... THIS.

I had a listing banned because I accidently missed de-listing one of my magic box items because there's no freaking easy way to delete these listings. You have to do it one at a time, and I need my magic box running while I convert these in chunks. And its even a pain to delete things from the magic box. UGH.

Granted it was a little item, but now I'm seriously concerned. I don't know if it's an automated system or there's human beings on the other end. All I know is that Linden labs should be EXPECTING people to be transitioning and not nail people who are trying to do AS they are asking.

It's really frustrating. Any suggestions on how I can avoid this? Other than making sure I dont have doubles.

  12. I had the same issue when they first did Direct Delivery. I assumed that because it wasnt working for people they put it off, etc, trying to fix the issues that came up with it.

Now they are telling us, within a month we are LOOSING our magic boxes and having us switch over. I am more than happy  to do that but I've spent my entire evening trying to find a resolution, from friends, from online, from the forums and from support and I am getting no where.

Tomorrows Saturday, I really don't want to loose sales and I can't even get my two magic boxs working again either everythings coming up marked in pink and unavailable. I've tried sync'ing and refreshing and I'm not very happy that this system is so conveluded.

Anyone have any ideas how I can fix it?

    UPDATED:

I did everything possible and the best answer here you need to submit a HELP ticket about your merchant outbox being "stuck initializing" you'll need to do this so they can manually reset the connection between your merch outbox and the mp.

Let me know if this works for you too because if we have a way to fix this we need to get this out ASAP to all store owners to help them too.
