  1. Never use llRegionSayTo its riddled with a throttling bug, see BUG-5457 basically if there is more than 100 llRegionSayTo messages and not only yours in a too short time period there is a throttle that stop the message unfortunatly due to the bug once throttled it stays throttled until a sim restart
  2. Are you sure you havent accidentally checked the checkmark in front of "Hide My Group Title" or "Hide own group title"
  3. There is a new bug that many are not aware of. Setting the option in your viewer preferences that you like offline IMs stored is only half the job. You also need login to your Account pages. Go to Account, then Contact Information witness the stupidity here. You need make sure the V I would like to receive offline IM's via Email is checkmarked. Its seems for some accounts this mysteriously turns itself off. This option is separate from how preferences in the viewer deals with messages to be stored. Just setting the option in the viewer isnt enough. And it doesnt matter what you click in the viewer preferences. For example the setting in firestorm preferences has no effect unless this is also checkmarked. Many write it off to being IM capped. But its more likely this option is turned off on the account. I know this happend to me and once i checkmarked it under contact information i started seeing offline IMs. Of course you never notice this unless there is an IM you know you should have received and didnt get.
  4. your second part name is Resident, your name really is parvati.resident the second part is often not displayed by the viewer. But its there. So your menu is gotten to by prmenu
  5. I know of at least two things that can cause this. One is the avi is ghosted and still logged in, while you are logged out trying to get in. That will cause you to disconnect immediatly. 'However its easy to see, try login to a empty region instead, like furball If that moves the login bar a few millimeters, just keep at it, keep trying, each attempt will move the bar a bit further until your finally logged in. The other problem is that some of your logfiles contain stuff that the viewer cant deal with during the login and adding any stored messages. when this happens to my avatars i simply remove the logfiles directory and let the viewer make a new one, ofcourse backing up any saved logs and teleport history i want to keep. As far as i can tell some chat logs contain characters that cause the viewer to go into hibernation during login, and once the two minute or so timeout is up it disconnects. Symptoms of the problem is one of your avis just take forever login and after a minute or two just disconnects, while other alts you have login fine. I suspect some parts of the login procedure cant cope with all possible national characters. Just as the new direct delivery marketplace couldnt either, same programmers, same mistakes perhaps... for me simply renaming AppData/Roaming/Firestorm/somename into AppData/Roaming/Firestorm/somenamebak102367 since it happens quite often... then start firestorm and it will work fine. then simply copy some old selected logfiles to the fresh created AppData/Roaming/Firestorm/somename folder telport history is usally something one might be intrested in along with maybe some other stuff Hope this helps. It helps me every time it happens.
  6. This is disingenous. Failed teleports and random logouts have happend the last several years. But recent changes have made it a much more visible problem since only sometimes will it work. Seems also be for some reason dependent on the avatar. Some of my avis have next to no problem, some have failures at least over 50%. Maybe its what scripts they run or what stuff they wear, i have no idea, i do know however that failures are frequent. and pretty much pointless to report since its our crappy local internet anyway..... There is a pattern to it also but no longer so easy to spot since the two servers you try to move between have been made quite anonymous. You have to go through some hoops to find out that you try to teleport into a development server run sim or not. Each time apologists pipe up the choir that its your useless local internet that is the big culprit. Im sorry but that explanation failed to be cool years ago When you fail at teleport. Do this. Logout. (which it usually does anyway) But if the logout after failed tp failed, help it on its way by loggging out. Now tell the viewer which region you wish to start in. Give this as for example Help Island Public/125/124/27 or wherever it was you failed to teleport. NOW WATCH YOUR BROKEN INTERNET TAKE YOU THERE. Yes no problem at all to go to your target. Its just the teleport function that is broken. Starting at the spot works. Getting tired to logout and in all the time so thinking its time that the teleporting starts to live up to its advertised function. PS. While your at it fix the bug that sometimes cause the teleport bar to not display a "Cancel" button while its busy, leaving you no option but to kill the viewer process to get out of it.
  7. so not just a local connection, then we will watch what happens on the staus page. Its been much ress problems recently
  8. secondlife.com marketplace.secondlife.com id place for logins are all these down again? Is this another unscheduled maintenance? Or is it just a local problem?
  9. *First off this isnt a gripe, I try be positive, but there is very little giving us reason to be positive lately, i still try to be, and i offer a teleport workaround that has helped me. Perhaps it will help some others too. TP fails, this happens alot of times and to many of my friends aswell. What i can say is the following: Dont use teleport.!! ITS NOT OUR INTERNET ITS NOT OUR VIEWER Its not ever any of the shrug off explanations support like to give us. And no relog and then teleport will not be even attempted. Its been done to death already by millions. The explanation its your internet having problems can be instantly disproved by the following: Lets have our local internet work alot harder. Instead of doing a teleport. Add some more workload, Logoff. And on the login screen type region/X/Y/Z Presto! your at the target. Never fail. Only fails if target is full. But its been weeks since i was at a parcel that was full, i wonder why......seems alot people have become disillusioned and dont login anymore. Workaround: dont teleport! logoff and login to region/X/Y/Z it does get you to where you want to go. Probably adds more workload to the login servers but hey i dont care. What is very likely is its related to the region information handling. So all fingers toes hands noses appendages point to some sort of server having bad software written into it. Lets go to work on the right part folks. Blaming viewers or clients connections failed to be cool years ago. I have noticed that if you use About land when this is happening you see contents of your about land window and see parcel details. Then the next second you look the window has changed and parcel is now owned by nobody with 0 size and so on. Dont open a new about land window. All you need do is click on the bar at the top of the screen and the window get populated by the right information again. Somehow the already opened window changes to describe a parcel with 0 size owned by nobody. You dont need to reopen the window just click the bar at the top of screen and your already opend window changes back to being correct. WHY it cant stay correct while your looking at it is for someone to wakeup and fix.. I can imagine if the same thing happens with respect to the code responsible for doing the teleporting, then parcel details vanish it ofcourse cant finish the teleport.
  10. for me i had a computer that didnt support shadows. whewn standing under something or behind something the sky was black and out in open flying the sky was still dark.. turning off shadows fixed it for me. seems every time i was in a shadow it turned the sky pitchblack instead of whatever shade it was supposed to be. it didnt matter if the thing doing a shadow was visible, skyboxes far above also blocked the view i got a better graphic card was my solution.
  11. Thank you marigold. Im very happy and you provided the answer in a different thread. Im reporting this here. And yes you are an angel telling about these things. To solve ghost problem follow the directions posted in Answers > Avatar > Avatar Ghosted in the mainland The directions there worked perfect. I might add as comment that one need be persistent i think it took 20 times or more before the login finished Again many thanks to all of you who answerd to my question.
