  1. I recently purchased a new desktop directly from HP. It's expandable and I am slowly up-grading what I can. I'm looking for a decent graphics card to replace the one I installed from the older desktop, a GTX-750, one slot. While Nvidia still supports the card (it was gifted to me, though a used one; still gives me good FPS), I would like something new with a bit more oomph.

My newer machine has Intel® Core™ i7-12700 (up to 4.9 GHz with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology, 25 MB L3 cache, 12 cores, 20 threads, 32 GB RAM (2x16GB) which I upgraded from a 16 GB RAM (2x8GB) and 310 W 80 Plus Gold certified power supply.

Any suggestions and if so, who might have the better deal?

  2. I would bet an illegal viewer is involved.

A few years ago, SL had a problem with illegal viewers. Region ban someone and they would still pop in. SL can put the final nail in their coffin if the situation warrants. Fill out a AR and file it. Don't embellish and be as concise as possible. Include any screen grab you possess.

I hope someone can come here and explain better than me. It's a shame you and your talent had to go through this. It's total BS.

To all the people born in the 90's, including my own children. I'm sorry.

I'm sorry that we couldn't realise our dreams of "love and peace" - as the cliche goes - for you and your children. I'm sorry that we took our eyes off the goal in the intervening decades, that we let complacency take the fire out of our bellies while the the same forces our parent's generation stormed beaches to fight against slithered back out into the world again instead of becoming as extinct as we had fooled ourselves into believing they were. That we deluded ourselves into thinking "it can't happen here" and let fall their oath of "Never again." That the fights our mothers and sisters fought and won for equality and autonomy were now to be fought all over again by our daughters.

We had such enormous dreams for the world you would be raising your children in.

    And we blew it.

Reading this post and Jesse Colin Young suddenly went through my head.

    Eloquently stated.

  4. Never mind anyone's political persuasion, 19000L$ is a nice chunk of change. As of this writing, 19000L$ is $78.52 on Instant Buy (for argument sake, I'll round to $80.00).

I would suspect the OP will have to just walk away from the $80.00 and chalk this up to experience. Good example to not pay rent too far in advance. Only pay what you can afford to lose. It's bogus that[ESTATE NAME REMOVED] will not refund any outstanding rent. It reflects terribly on [ESTATE NAME REMOVED] owners and representatives. An old saying "Get good business, tell five people. Get bad business, tell ten people".

In my opinion: A person who claims Cajun ancestry, lived in / came from areas common to Cajuns, are aware of Cajun culture and heritage.

    Trick question?

I tell you what. Strike the word "real". Fine with you now?

I spent two plus years living in Eunice Louisiana, smack dab in the middle of Acadiana. Found if the sun simply rises, the Cajuns would have a festival. Had some really good times learning the Cajun lifestyle. A cafe around the corner from where I worked had the best Cajun cheesyburgers (they were so freakin' good). Did my first and only Mardi Gras in Mamou (never mind New Orleans. N.O. has nothing on Mamou). Did the mudbugs (suck the head) and saw my first Boudin (a sausage for those wondering. Word of warning, if one has a moderate hangover, don't look at a three hour or more boudin in a box. It's really disgusting).

If I had the $, I'd go back in an instant.

  6. Interesting concept. I checked my email for a rez day announcement, came up empty. However, I started thinking about it.

My streak would start towards the end of 2014, working it EVERYDAY of 2015 (don't ask why...2015 doesn't exist in my memory) and stopping around the end of January 2016. Would it possible to ask the Lab if they have a record of this and possible to get a confirmation, similar to the rez day announcement?

    Would be interesting to share.

  7. Have you considered contacting the music publishers?

For sake of argument, contact BMI or ASCAP and ask what fee would be required for an audience of 50 people performed at an internet based venue. I believe they offer a sliding scale on source and crowd size. If it's a fee that you can manage, pay it and be legal and it could be a one-off thing.

They MIGHT ask for a playlist of what songs you wish to perform. Provide it if asked.

I have to be clear; I am speculating. NEVER HURTS TO ASK.

  8. I would think the Lab has some access to credit card information (not so much particulars).

If one were to lose access to their account if they provided so called 'personal information' at sign up a few years ago, could the CC info be helpful in re-establishing true ownership?

So years ago I made an account, not understanding how SL works, I thought our real names were displayed with said name we choose,   so I entered a false name onto that account,  I've been feeling guilty for 8+ years on the issue and since we are unable to change our own information like we could on most all other sites,  I've been wondering how do I go about this and being able to change that information over to the real name I have so it's legit.

Bigmoe makes a good point. After eight years who remembers the information provided if it were a white lie? Eight years ago, I joined some websites, not sure of their intentions or to avoid spamming.

Maybe a Linden could step in and offer some advice?

    National Lampoon

    Rolling Stones

    Easy Riders

    Mad

    High Times

    Heavy Metal

    Omni

    Whole Earth Catalog

Just to name a few off the top of my head that I used to read back when they were still worth reading.

Thank you for the list. Mad magazine I read, but as you did, I mentioned just off the top of my head too. Of course, what I tossed out is/was not absolute.

Correction: I meant to say Babylon Bee as opposed to just the Bee. My bad.

The Onion's articles cover current events, both real and fictional, parodying the tone and format of traditional news organizations with stories, editorials, and man-on-the-street interviews using a traditional news website layout and an editorial voice modeled after that of the Associated Press.

Before The Onion** was National Lampoon, a national  magazine and radio show. Members of the original SNL cast were heavily involved in its production.

Catching up now is The Bee (parody stuff} and lately Not the Bee, a site that take facts that by all means should be parody but isn't.

**Some news outlets would take The Onion as gospel and report as fact without vetting the source.
