Well in that case, Second Life should've worked for you. I have a desktop much older than this laptop, but with Nvidia GeForce. Works like a charm. So I guess that in my case, it's the graphics card that sucks, since I've only got the Intel® HD. But I hope you will find a solution.

I have the exact same problem, and nearly the exact same laptop too. Got Win 7, 64-bit, IntelR HD and so on.. Bought it brand new a week ago. I really hope someone figures out of this.. (haven't found any solution here yet).

I just downloaded the viewer 2 for the first time on my laptop. It meets the requirements. So, I clicked the secondlife button and "clearing cache" appeared. Then it disappeared and nothing else happened. There wasn't a crash or anything. I didn't even get to the welcome screen. So I uninstalled and downloaded the old viewer (1.2.3 or something). Same thing happened. I really don't know what to do... This is the first time I've used SecondLife on this laptop.
