I just recently had a rental go south on me, and feel it is not against TOS to warn people about these companies. I payed 10k for 2 weeks the day before i was told that they were returning sim and i had 1 day to move to a location they would provide.

Anyone that does business in SL knows that getting traffic is important, i did not want to do business with a company that cant afford its sims. And for that i get no refund. I would understand if it was my decision to move. But it wasnt, and i am not responsible for his lack of income. i always pay on time and never missed a payment. I overlooked several issues, my land getting terraformed my managers etc.

I will make a thread on this topic tho...

But as far as i see it, the renter has no protection in SL, and it seems the land owner id even protected against legal action. I doubt i couold get any info to persue a small claims against this person. And linden states they will not mediate.

Linden Lab will not mediate. As long as those who buy estate sims pay their tier every month, LL is happy. If the owner leases out land to someone else, and that someone else is cheated by the sim owner, Linden Lab will not intervene. It does not have the resources to do so anyway. It is always best to lease from a large, reputable estate owner, who has been in business for several years. They are not hard to identify and find.

That link is only page 1 of 6 pages. You might find what you want if browse along, choosing NEXT to go to the other pages - see bottom right of the page.

  3. It was foolish of the rental company not to give a customer the benefit of a doubt, particularly in the downward land economy SL has been facing for some time now, and is getting worse. Just go elsewhere, to a place that treats customers well.

I run a little rental agency in SL, and I had an item listed for well over a year on the marketplace, that served to draw attention to my rentals.

The item itself was very similar to the one still remaining here:

    but for a different house.

The reason LL removed the other one was that it was flagged by someone as "item not as advertized".

I feel that is completely erroneous, because:

    1. my items are listed in the Mainland / Rentals / Developed land

2.the description of the item makes it very clear that you don't get a free house, but a brochure for my rentals

So why on earth would LL respond to the flagging and remove my item when all that happened is some naive and angry soul didn't bother to read and clicked "buy" then proceeded to flag the item as "not as advertized" because they expected to get a free house?

And why would LL do so without even checking or offering me a chance to protest their action?

    I am appalled.

What happened here is that the Linden who responded to the complaint, was dumber that they who complained.

  5. I have leased land from many of the larger estate land owners, sometimes called land barons. They are all part of the Atlas Program and are able to receive new sims at grandfathered pricing. Is that fair? Nope. However, it does allow me, whenever I want, to have full admin rights to a complete sim at near current tier level prices, and paying weekly only and leaving any time I wish. That is something I can not get directly by purchasing from Linden Lab, AND I do not have to put out those huge initial set-up costs. Therefore, financially, it is to my advantage to lease from the barons.

As for the service from those land barons, well, I have leased from several of the larger ones and they all provide excellent service. Granted, since I know what I am doing, most times anyway, I rarely need their customer support.

We must face the fact that Linden Lab is trying to push out the smaller land owners in SL so that it can reduce its customer support staff, and allow the barons to deal with those issues. In the long run, those who provide the best price/service will gain the larger share of the market. The days for the small land owner becoming a land baron are long past. The barons are here to stay, and to monopolize the land market, with LL's blessing. That is a dose of reality we all should swallow.

Linden Lab is in business to maximize its profits, and not to deliver fairness to all its customers.

To avoid disappointment later on I'm reminding everyone today that there will be no "Second Life Economy in
    Q2
2012" posted by Linden Lab this July or August.   Or any other month.  I'll try to remind you all again later in case you forget again.

I know there will be some people out there who didn't get the word.  Perhaps they already beginning to get excited about the soon to be released report.   Please - if you know someone like that - get their attention and break this news to them gently.

    ---

A slightly related item:  It's likely that this months wrap up of changes to the Feed will contain nada.  That doesn't mean nothing changed in the feed.  It means nothing changed in how the feed works, setting, features.   Stuff like that.

The last quarter where data on the Second Life Economy was published, was for Q3 2011. It was historic in that this was probably the last one ever to be published. I guess LL decided that the adage, "there are lies, there are damned lies, and then there are statistics," was true, and that SL residents were not as stupid as they thought.

    That's correct.
Although the reason given for dropping the reports was that 'some of the residents said they were useless.'  Which suggests the Lindens respond to the requests of their users
    .   (just kidding)

In any case there's always 10% who didn't get the word.

LOL! Well, I am sure the Lab does respond to their users when convenient. (not kidding)

i have seen many people with a disclaimer, saying something like (to put it short):

Well that's basically what it says... but why do people put that in their profile after all? Doesn't make sense to me.

Sounds just as logical as someone who says "i'll drive through a red light if no car comes"...?

These people are simply misinformed, and are usually the same type who claim they want no drama. They are usually magnets to drama as their threats about exposing personal chats suggest.

is there anybody out there, ...who could explain me or tell me, why there are still no possibilities to sort my favorits in my marketplace ? (from newest added to oldest one or from price  to price- or search for the name for example) (like in the marketplace main-page)

in the past i noticed, that it is still not the same as before ...

before the last marked product for my favorites was always last article = on the last page

but since a time yet, its like this

i mark a product for my favorite list - but i cant find it at the end of the list like before (e.g. page 43 - last product)

now, whenever i add a new favorite, i have to search it and it can be possible that it is on page 38 on my fav-list

    thats a pure chaos

and i would say or suggest to SL (except im very blind and cannot see it) to improve this a lil bit

why cant we sort the favorites in the list or search or why they are not like before simply at the end of the fav-list?

it doesnt make much sense for people who mark a lot of products or for powershopper(lol) if they finally have to search again for the already marked product for hours or through 45 pages ....

    Greetings from Cora

I agree with you wholeheartily. But I think Linden Lab staff have enough to deal with at the present time. Besides, do we really want them breaking Favourites too?

LOL. That's true. I upgraded my membership to buy mine. I only found out later that I didn't have to.

Yup, the same thing happened to me a few years ago. Since the documentation throughout the website stated you had to have premium membership to "get" land, I spent $72.00 to take out premium membership, and then bought my first estate sim from the Lab. I found out later that that $72.00 US was unnecessary by talking with other sim owners. I felt like such a fool. I sometimes check from time to time to see if Linden Lab has tried to make its website more honest. It hasn't, but such is life and such is the Lab.

  11. I have wanted to start as a new merchant, but after checking out all of the problems the established merchants are now facing, I have more or less lost interest in going into such a venture. Who needs more stress in their lives? Certainly, not me.

Hey everyone. Kinda new here but I'm desperate for an answer. Do I need to hold a premium membership in order to become the estate owner of a full region? I'm not talking about renting or owning parcels from an estate, I'm asking do I need premium membership to become the guy who pays 295 dollars a month to LL? Or to become the guy who's name appears on the COVENANT tab of the "About Land" options. Thank you in advance.

No, you do not need to hold a premium membership to own an estate region. However, as I am sure you have looked on the website, Linden Lab does not make it common knowledge that this is so.

    I wouldn't say "sabotaged", exactly.

I would say "designed and implemented to gradually produce a condition of lesser utility,
specifically to eliminate Xstreet as a perceived detriment to land revenues,
but while doing the legal minimum necessary to appear to continue providing something like the service which Xstreet provided".

Given that enough people now either suspect this or suspect something appreciably similar, it should probably occur to Rodvik that even the appearance of such is a potentially dangerous thing to allow to continue, regardless of who is really responsible for creating this perception or why.

That is: his choices at this point are either to fix the marketplace or to draw more and more suspicion onto LL by not fixing it.

Yet, the latest "innovation" that seems to have caused the majority of the most recent problems, was the initiation of Direct Delivery, which in and of itself, if working well, will cause even further erosion of land revenues. Methinks the Linden gods be madder than hatters.

  15. Josh Susanto wrote:

"It is time for Rodvik to start cleaning house, I believe, and the sooner the better".

I think he may finally have begun to do that just in the last month or so.

A lot of what you're seeing at this point is probably due to his failure to remove one specific person on 13 September.

Given the extent of the MP problems, are we giving incompetence too much credit, and that perhaps the MP was sabotaged?

This is not that I love to gossip or anything like that, but if anyone has something bad to say about someone, please come and sit down beside me and let me hear it all.:matte-motes-big-grin:

Or just close it and fix it. But fix it. This is going on for way too long!

Unfortunately, freezing it will not enable LL to fix it. The real problem is LL can not fix it at all. That is something the "team" is not letting the CEO know, so they just stumble along pretending they know what they are doing. But shhhhh, cuz that is a big secret.

  17. LL will never come clean with what really happened to the MP. If they did, it would be discovered that it was really the tots and toddlers of the LL staff in the company day care facility that run MP. Ridiculous you say? But look at the results!

No SL is'nt running for sure. Not in task manager or under processes either.

I also tryed to run it as an administrator. No luck.

Added it to my firewall as "alowed" software. No luck.

Disconnected my firewall. Still no luck. (I use F-Secure)

    Reinstall of SL. No luck.

I run Win7 Ultimate under 64bit on this computer, but on my laptop I run 32bit (same OS).

The SL version I have installed is SL 331.254524

I really apritiate any help here
    :)
I'm not really a gamer, so gaming issues I know little about.

Sorry for typos and such... I'm Norwegian

I would try installing another viewer, eg, Phoenix, and see if that works. If it doesn't then call SL support.

    Homestead sim For $ale - 3750 prims

    Tier date - 13th

    Sim Name Cabria Sunrise

Sim must be renamed and moved. This Sim is grandfathered at $95 US per month, but Tier for a new owner will be $125. And of course, you must own a full sim to buy this one. If you cannot afford to buy, but would like to rent a full HS sim , I could consider that, for right around $110 USD per month. In this case, you would need to respect the estate Covenant, but would have pretty much all land and estate manager rights.

Full estate rights granted as soon as tickets are completed.

$175 USD - I will pay transfer fee

    contact Myles Capalini inworld, or

You may see the Sim here (it is not currently occupied):

    LOL! Bon chance.

  20. When Market Place stops having problems, I would like to know. I have been thinking of putting some things up for sale on MP, but I really need not any more frustrations in life, so I am deferring the attempt to become a merchant on MP. It sounds like this will be a very long deferment, eh?
