I was at work when it happened, and chatting with a friend in California at the time (who obviously wasn't sleeping well (I lived in EST) - it was early) and I got a page from a friend (wow, 10 years ago we were using pagers!) and a quick back to my Yahoo home page or whatever and saw the first plane ... and then the second one ... and inbetween I'm telling my friend "Turn on the TV now!" Because since I was at work I couldn't see what was going on so I had her on the phone and we were talking back & forth and it was pretty weird. Ofc, you need to realize I also remember the day that NIxon resigned, and the day that Elvis died and the Challenger exploded... I remember where I was and what I was doing during all of those too. But still, it's a bit hard to believe it's ten years now.

I joined in something like Jan '07, and I think the reason why was because I read some random blog somewhere about it - actually something about being able to play hockey with people online cuz I was a big hocky player at the time. It didn't turn out to be exactly what I was expecting, but it was cool, so I'm still here.

I'm sorry, but is this new? I thought all those were in place for some time?

Your post sounds like you're someone new to Second Life. For one thing, to "spawn" something is normally called to rez an object etc. As for the object your friend owns - most of the time things are specific to the person who owns the object, so any random person (friend or not) can't get it to trigger the poses and so on. When it comes to land - do you own the land or are in and ownership of the land? If it's permissions are set to not allow just anyone in, that might be your problem. You need to talk to the person who owns the land or check to see if there are any other restrictions in place such as ejector orbs or whatnot. SL can be pretty complicated but once you understand some of the rules it makes life a lot easier.
