Maximum number of inventory items that can be contained in a prim:Β 10,000

Awesome! That'll work. Thank you. lol I can probably size half my inventory down easy, peezy, lemon squeezy and I'm thinking it might solve a big chunk of my issue. I don't know how a lot of my mates with more inventory then I rock are managing, but I am about to spend a day here soon and box the living crap out of my inventory. lol Thanks again for the help mate. Much appreciated.Β πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž

Thanks mate. I read over the link you gave me. A lot of that would apply if I were having issues logging in just in general. I can log other accounts fine with no issues. It's only on my main I am having this issue. I could have sworn Firestorm had a setting on how textures and inventory were fetched. I can't seem to find it. I don't know if it was removed or what. I also forgot to mention I can't even log in to that account with cache cleared. lol Another question I meant to ask though was what is the max amount of items you can pack up in a box? A good chunk of my inventory I can probably just simply box up. I have a lot of gacha crap I collected from back in the day I can pack up to size things down. Thanks again for the help mate. I appreciate it.πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž

  3. Hey mates. I have an issue with Firestorm failing to load in on my main avatar. I know it's not my set up because I do content creation and live stream outside of SL land so my hardware and internet are good. I do have over 220k in inventory, but I also know people with more then me who have no issues logging in on older rigs then mine. I can log an alt fine with only 15k items. I didn't have issues until I updated to the current version when I was forced off my previous one. So my question is this. Is there a setting or something I can tweak with how the game loads you in with either inventory and/or textures to see if that resolves the issue? It's also fair to note that this is the only viewer that I have this issue on. I can log in with Singularity with no problems. I think Firestorm just doesn't like me anymore. lol In any case thanks in advance for any help and advice you all have. Have an awesome day everyone!πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž

  4. I forget what it is called, but there is a fishing thing you can drop on the land like one of those fishing for lindens things that if you don't clear it properly before pulling it up then you will still have people tping to your land randomly. That's the only thing I've ever seen on here that's had people popping in constantly. Had a lot of a fun with it back in the day before I got married in SL when I was dating this jealous insane fatal attraction type chick. She'd accuse me of doing stuff even thought she was with me 24/7. So finally I decided I'll give her something to really complain about because I didn't want her to be a liar. lol I'd drop it. Go sit down and watch a movie while she'd be cracking it over all the ladies coming over to go fishing. lol Does that make me an A-Hole? It's probably makes me an A-Hole. Lmao!!!!😁😁🀣🀣

The issue maybe Firestorm itself, rather than your GPU. Firestorm's current minimum GPU requirement is now the Nvidia GTX 750Ti, which is a superior model to your GT 730.

    Β

Instead of Firestorm, try using the official SL viewer, or other trusted third party viewers instead.

    Third Party viewers:Β https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Third_Party_Viewer_Directory

This right here mate. I'd try and play with some of the graphic settings. It's weird though because I can run FS on an older rig with a much older AMD card myself with zero issues. And one of my biggest gripes about FS is that they lock out older viewers and force people to upgrade. Which is really my only and primary complaint about that viewer. I've had versions run flawlessly and been forced to upgrade and ended up with a ton of issues over that BS just to have to sort it all out in the past. lol The best alternative to FS IMO is Singularity if you prefer the OG viewer look and style. That's my go to viewer when FS pisses me off. lolπŸ‘πŸ˜Ž

If you installed it into the Windows default location for applications (C:\Programs), you will need Administrator priviledges to write into those folders. Try installing it in a different location.

I tried that and I do have admin privileges. I even moved the folder to my downloads folder just to change permissions and it still doesn't change. So it doesn't really matter because even with admin it still resets regardless of where I place it at. I was just wondering if there was a fix for that because I've never had a folder not let me change permissions on it until now. It's all good. Thank you very much. I appreciate it.πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž

To avoid such a problem, settings overrides (whatever the settings type, i.e. including presets), should go to the user_settings directory (%AppData%/Firestorm/user_settings under Windows)... I.e. Firestorm code needs fixing for this. πŸ˜›

You actually nailed it. I didn't realize I could switch preset locations on it. I thought it had to be in the same place reshade was installed at. So I did like you said and set it to there in a ReshadePresets folder I created there for it specifically for that. I'm rock'em sock'em and good to go now. Thank you oh so very much. I really do appreciate it. You saved me a big huge headache with this one. lolπŸ‘πŸ˜Ž

  7. I've seen videos of people using reshade with Firestorm so decided to give it a go. However I can't save presets because for whatever reason the FS folder won't allow me to take it off read only. Anybody know a fix for this? Not gonna lie it was kind of a piss off to tweak everything out perfectly only to have it poo the bed like this. Anyway thanks in advance mates.😎

  8. Twitter has been a poop show for a very long time now. I, personally hope Elon Musk does exactly what he claims he will do. Not gonna lie I've been amused by how many people got triggered over this. lol Moderation has been one sided for a very long time now. My primary gaming Twitter got locked for stating a simple fact and simply telling people to get over it because it wasn't a big deal. In other words stop arguing. Which was a tweet posted on my own page expressing my thoughts.

My secondary gaming Twitter account got locked for defending Jaden Smith on his page when people ganged up on him over something his Pops did. Because I am sitting there thinking ya'll actually took time out of your day to Tweet on this kids Twitter with toxic BS? Ya he is famous, but so what. That doesn't entitle the world to be a-holes to him. So I simply said they were punks for that type of behavior and could use a good slap themselves. lol Nothing compared to what was being said to him. They went unchecked. I caught some heat for it. It is what it is.

Certain groups of people can behave and say what they want and out right threaten people on that platform even. Speak against them, or gut check them rather and you catch the heat. So if Elon Musk levels the playing field then I am all for it. The reality is I should have never even participated in any of those conversations. Read them, sure. Either shake my head or laugh and move on. The only reason I even had a Twitter account in the first place was to promote my channel. So my Twitter problems are about to drop to zero anyway.

At best I might do a video about my experiences, but if I do it'd be more to ask Twitter to point out the exact rule I broke on the first instance because I read all the rules very carefully and I literally broke none. In fact that was how I found out about the whole censorship issue in the first place. On the fence post about it though because I don't want to pollute my channel with politics. Even in gaming news videos I considered doing I've opted out because of things like gender and/or racial politics. I don't want that crap on my channel.

So as far as my gaming persona goes I'm all about the good times. Plenty of other Youtubers out here talking about that stupid mess. I ain't about that life.πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž

Yes, but it's for games and I don't want to be in a game.

This here pretty much nails it. Anything Epic would produce would be a lot similar to Creative mode in Fortnite. They are already trying to push that whole metaverse theme with some newer game I can't recall the name of right now where you can world build in it. And to be entirely honest the issue a lot of these platforms have is that kids are being allowed on them. So I don't see this as an alternative to Second Life for a variety of reasons. It's already been proven to fail.

For example I read an article about one called Avakin Life I think it's called where local chat is getting policed so hard people are copping bans left, right, and center over every little thing. In fact one user on Youtube even said it has gotten so bad you hardly see anyone going out anymore and when you do it's dead silence because everyone is afraid to speak.. It is what it is.

And the reason for it makes perfect sense even because it's to protect the younger kids from predators, but here is the thing. Grown ups go to the grown up clubs. So unless you're playing chaperone for your own child you got no business hanging out at the teen clubs. Which at the end of the day that is what these platforms are.

So Epic pushing out a metaverse it is not going to happen the way people think it is. If I am going to play a game then I will just play a game. As for the metaverse thing I'll stay in my own lane. They can have at it for all I care.πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž

We do agree on one thing. Marriage is a team effort.

*There is one gender anomaly in my observations. I rarely see women riding lawnmowers in my neighborhood. They're usually digging around in the dirt, planting things. From this I could deduce that men don't like getting their hands dirty.

I think you misunderstand me or maybe I didn't articulate myself clearly enough. When I made that statement I was making from a traditional point of view. We all learned that. That's why people argue and fuss over it so much.

As for what I personally learned from my parents, I learned to be self sufficient. Which I applaud your parents on because they obviously taught you the same. To many out here do not teach this. So what little you've told me about them I can already tell I have a huge amount of respect for them on that.

The reason I mainly commented in jest on @Rowan Amore's post was because she isn't wrong. Women do put in a lot of work at the home especially if the man is the one out working 12 and 16 hour shifts. Now the typical man will come home tired and obviously expect a meal at least. That's been the common theme with a lot of my friends growing up when I'd stay over for the night.

I come from a generational military family so if I had to label my mentality in one word then I would say I was brought up/trained with more of a survivalist mentality. I was taught not to wait around for someone to cook my food. Go cook it myself. Don't wait around on others to get things done. Just get things done.

So for example say I come from work after 16 hours if my wife didn't have time to cook or simply just didn't feel good I don't say, "What's for dinner?". I obviously can see ain't shirt for dinner. lol I'm a grown arse man. I can do math. lol So you will never ever hear me ask that stupid question. lol So what I do is I let her know that I am fixing to go cook. What I will ask is two questions though. "You eat?", "The kids eat?". Only two questions I ask because I go cook dinner myself.

I'll go a step further even. There was a time after she had retired military service when she asked me asked me if she could do over the road truck driving. It was something she had always wanted to try. Which I think I shocked her on and I would have thought she'd known me well enough, but she expected me to out right shoot it down as most men probably would have. I mean after all not many men would be comfortable with their wife being gone, then stuck with all the duties, and them working around other men far away.

However trust and freedom in a marriage is crucial if not everything. So if I recall I am standing there cooking and she asks me and my response was brief. No questions except for one and one only. "Is that what you really want to do?", she replies, "Yes.". My reply, "Then do it.". Her expression was priceless. lol I remember she asked, "Is that all you got to say about it?". I replied back a tad sarcastically with a smile, "Would you rather we fight about it?". lol I mean later we obviously discussed it more and I let her know. I'm not going to ever tell somebody they can't do something in life they really want to do.

In fact the only time I ever got some what angry regarding that situation was a few years later when she called me from the road and asked me if I minded if she quit and came back home. In fact it kinda royally pissed me off now that I am thinking about it. lol My Hispanic accent came to the suffice. I told her straight to the point. "You don't need my permission to come home woman! You no ask me shirt! You wanna quit and come home then just quit and come home!". I'm not gonna lie. I had to woo saa on that one. I don't believe in people needing to ask permission to come home. I get she was just trying to be respectful and give me a courtesy, but that's just not something anyone ever has to ask me. So we talked a bit and she made the arrangements to come home.

So I do know what it is like to run a house solely on your own. I've always had a respect for the things women do at the home and in general basically. If anything the main thing it changed is I could relate a lot more to it. Funny story though. I'll explain how the transition of power in the house happened once she got home.

Our girls while glad their Mother was home thought they'd be glad because they did not have to suffer Dad's inspections no more before they were allowed to leave the house. It was the first, last, and only time I ever had my behind chewed over what they were wearing. It was over a skirt the youngest was wearing who was 16 at the time. I, personally thought it was fine. However her Mother did not. lol So when she called herself having a go at me I looked at her, grinned and said (Again Hispanic accent sufficed. lol), "You know what? You no like my inspections? Then you do the inspections from now on. I, quit!". Our daughter, still trying to argue her case is looking at me for help saying well he liked it. I looked back at her, smiled real big and told her straight to the point. "Did you not hear me girl? I, quit!". Walked off like a boss. lol Thus the transition of power has successfully been navigated back over to the wife. lol Mission accomplished.

Wife is now back in charge. Check. Wife is now in full on drill sergeant mode exerting her dominance over her cubs. Check. Wife is happy. Check. Happy wife is a happy life. Check. Life is goooooodddd!!!! lol The lion is now back on the rock awaiting the next orders. lol🀣

So hopefully that gives you a bit of a better idea of how I operate and function in my RL. While I may have some traditional views in how I see certain things I simply do not just up and fall in line. I do things my own way and always on the same page equally with my wife. We do things together. No one ever had to tell us or even teach us this. It simply just is.

For me the way I see it is it is more of a every day we wake up is a blessing from God. Each new day you have a new mission for that day to accomplish that life gives you. It doesn't really matter how it is accomplished. It just matters that it is accomplished. Do so with love, compassion, understanding, pride, dignity, respect, and honor. Whatever duty the wife doesn't do the husband should do and pick up the slack and whatever duty the husband doesn't do the wife should do and pick up the slack. No complaints. Only accomplish the mission. That's real teamwork.

These are some of the things I teach to my kids, grand kids, and now *coughs* one great grand child. To be self sufficient above all else and to understand the value of true teamwork. I teach them by example not to place their own self worth above that of their partner. If anything I teach them to place their partners self worth above their own. And after putting God and Jesus first to put and protect family above all else. God does not like vanity. Nor do I for that matter. It serves very little to no purpose in life. I mean I don't mind if they joke around. We all do, but I need them to understand to protect and to have a high value, respect, and regard of all life. All life is precious.

Which brings me to my next point. Regarding the men and dirt thing you said. I had to actually laugh at that because it's hard for me to imagine. lol I'm going to say that may be a thing in your area. A lot of the men in my family are gardener's in their free time. lol It kinda goes hand in hand with the self sufficient, survivalist mentality I was brought up with. In fact in the early years of my life I spent most of it as a forest child in the woods with my hound dog named Prince. I'd say about 90% of it was spent with him and the other forest creatures who lived in the woods who were my friends. Good times.πŸ™‚

Every viewer must operate with the systems LL have in place and stay up to date with their changes, and we are all bound by the not only the data that LL exposes, but how and when they expose it for their own viewer. This acts as a huge constraint on how far into the deep magic we can practically go as the viewer is dumb like a rock. We can't get creative with data we don't have.

The bulk of the code under the hood is at least functionally the same (and likely to be 99% identical to Linden). UI does make up a significant portion of the code base and tends to be where TPV developers focus.

In large part because the core engine was explicitly designed around the lower resolution assets.

Games are Formula1 race cars, everything is designed specifically towards a singular end. The engine and the context it operates in and the hardware it runs on are tightly balanced and optimized in unison. So while you could mod a F1 car to run with monster truck tires, it's not going to perform like a actual monster truck.

The SL viewer is more like a dump truck, built to handle a staggering amount of random stuff people put out for it to pick up.

Eh, I half agree with this. Reason I say that is I'm not sure if you familiar with what Total Conversion mods are, but they often can and do rebuild a game from the ground up. Software is software. It'll do whatever you tell it to if you know how to sweet talk it just right.πŸ‘

Games are entirely focused around getting the game rendered and maintain strict performance goals. The rendering end goal is dominant and everything else is constrained by that focus, right down to the logistics behind managing the raw data and assets. Games - Here's all your assets - Go go go go gogoooo !!

SL is focused on data management. The bulk of the work load is processing assets as the server pops them into existence, resolving avatars and animations and so on. Rendering is just something that happens after all that. SL - here's a few hundred breadcrumbs, that explode into more breadcrumbs. Busy with that? Here's a hundred more. Miss something and stuff breaks.

The rub .. that data management can't be fundamentally changed or shortcut because the SL servers dictate, and off the back of that the SL client can generate a significant amount of http traffic (all of which needs subsequent extremely specific processing) - we used to overwhelm the cheap home routers shipped by ISPs.

You want that running single threaded on a cell phone, yeah, good luck.

Games are easy .. simplify the assets, get more speed.

SL .. not so much. The only way you're getting significantly more speed is by reducing the overall load by dropping draw distance.

    Β

Specifically concerning textures, You can easily limit max texture resolution in the viewer .. you know what happens? You shorten the total time spent fetching and decoding. But the bulk of the work still has to happen and doesn't go away. Even if you sit on your hands and let it do all the work, the final frame rate after it's all done .. barely improves.

    Β

BUTTΒ πŸ‘ ... it gets worse, because of course it does.

Sequentially resolving avatar animations and applying that individually for each and every worn rigged object (attachments can be many objects) consumes a huge amount of CPU and scales linearly.

    Β

Guess what isn't happening while the viewer is doing this processing ? Rendering.

Well first fun fact. As far as Androids go anyway. As I am sure you know they are based off Linux. I'm going to also assume you're familiar with Vulkan. So single threading is not so much an issue as a lot of Android devices take full advantage of Vulkan drivers. So that's really a non-issue at this point. Even if it was that is the very reason I referenced Singularity because I tested it with opengl purely on Linux using a toaster and it runs flawless and renders 5 times faster then any other viewer out there. So again, non-issue. There was an actual reason I recommended that specific one as a base model for Android devices.πŸ‘

Now hypothetically speaking and I'll see if I can explain this properly, if LL ever created an actual client that allowed for or created rather actual assets as the world loaded or when new items appeared similar to how the cache function works except actual assets are created then the platform very well could go go go go gogoooo!!!! Vroom! Vroom! Style. lol It definitely would reduce lag issues. I don't see that ever happening though given the way people crap their britches over content in this game. So that's out. lol🀣

Personally on the point as far as me wanting it running on my phone. I gotta be real honest with you. I don't really care. I am good with SpeedLight. That's my Slim Fast viewer right there. It does what I need it to. Tested the 3D on my phone. Thought it rendered fine. So my original suggestion seemed very feasible based off my own tests. I'm personally not going to be playing Second Life on my phone. I got an app for check in purposes should the need arise. So I'm good mate. lolπŸ‘

I was thinking more about the people with tablets and such or those who's PC's pooed the bed on them. I get it though. I do. You're basically saying it can't be done. My suggestion is crap. Not a problem. I got no problems yielding to the expertise of someone who's worked 10 years on Second Life viewer projects. My skill set doesn't include that. So it's all good in the hood as far as I am concerned.πŸ‘

    Β

19 hours ago, Coffee Pancake said:

No, you jumped to the same suggestions we have been handed hundred of times based on the same fundamentally wrong assumptions.Β

SL looks like a game, it can run like a game, game optimizations must apply.

SL content takes ages to rez, therefore the content must be bad, fix the content and fix SL.

SL rendering looks simplistic, it must be simplistic, my phone can do better.

    Β

    That all said ...Β

The viewer and all the required dependencies are open source (builds without havok), the development tools are free, all you have to lose is time .. and perhaps some hair.Β

The reason you haven't see any viewer devs doing this is all the years we have had the source isn't a lack of desire for a mobile client or laziness. Same reason there haven't been any big attempts to get SL to run on a "real" game engine. It's showing to a F1 meet with a dump truck.

If it was even remotely viable, someone would have done it just for the fun of it .. that is why we do third party viewer development in the first place.

Well I didn't just up and jump to the same suggestions. My opinions are my own and I've had them from day one ever since I vetted this platform out when looking for a solid mmo with a player base economy as an alternative to Star Wars Galaxies for a 500 player Guild/Fleet/Clan at the time. And while it does have one it never made the grade for so many reasons I won't even get in to because that's not the point. The point is my opinion is one that is decades old that I still stand by even to this very day.πŸ‘

So I am sorry if it is one that you heard before, but since what that tells me is if I am not the first or even the only one to have said it then I would totally get and even understand why you might be annoyed by the suggestion. What I am also taking away from this is that it is either not feasible to do as you said which I am happy to run with or to entirely much of a pain in the behind to do or even deal with which also I can relate to from my own projects. lol🀣

Having said that I am going to leave a few suggestions for you and/or anyone interested and people can ignore or do with them what ever they want. Just something I think is worth mentioning is all. There is a port called Devolution X for the PC version of the original Diablo. Very nicely done project. Awesome development team. So my first suggestion is rather then looking at building viewers from the ground up just either create a port for existing one or pack them as an apk making the adjustments needed in order for it to run. If it ain't doable then not an issue.πŸ‘

My second suggestion is a bit more on the technical side for people out here. Alternatives such as WINE or some other apps that allow you to run Windows programs on Android. There are also ways to run Linux programs on Android using certain apps as well too. So you can run programs and even games like The Lord Of The Rings Online for example with little to no problems. So you all could try rolling the dice with that.πŸ‘

My third and final suggestion for people. Perhaps my top suggestion if I were someone that I just needed to have a 3D viewer on an Android device for what ever reason then I would look in to Shadow Cloud Gaming. It does run about $29.99 a month if I recall, but the benefit to this you do not have to worry about or deal with all the issues that @Coffee Pancakewas kind enough to explain. Which thank you for that by the way. The application for it would save on disk space for your device and you would get the benefits of a high end gaming rig to boot. And honestly it would probably save wear and tear on your device hardware at the end of the day.πŸ‘

Anyway option three is my best helpful tip for the day. Stay safe and have a blessed day everyone. Peace, love, and hair grease.πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž

Hi, third party viewer developer here.

All desktop viewers, regardless of how they look, are based for the most part on the same, most recent code from Linden Lab. If they weren't, they wouldn't even be capable of logging in. Singularity, for all it's likeness to the old viewers of days gone by, is a fully featured fully modern client.

The CPU's, feeble GPU and tiny amounts of operating memory present in mobile devices make this a complete non starter. Especially on Android devices, the bulk of which are built to a very low cost. Feel free to look your new device up onΒ https://www.gsmarena.com/

Mobile devices are not designed to run full bore applications for all but the briefest periods, they are simply not designed around the loads a full fat desktop SL client can present and are severely lacking in almost every comparable area ... and that's ignoring the UI, usability and accessibility aspects of using a desktop client on a tiny phone screen.

The closest you can possibly get is a flagship phone or current Apple device, but even then. You can't put a device designed to sip power from a tiny battery next to a machine that can pull hundreds of watts from the wall, for extended periods, where half it's mass and overall designed is explicitly concerned with heat dissipation.

Apple even go as a far as to state "power usage" as reason to deny an app getting into their store as it will dramatically shorten a devices service life.

There have been android viewers with 3D such as lumiya, but even then it was designed as a text client first. With the 3D on it would drain the battery in my flagship Samsung phone in under an hour, get too hot to hold, throttle the CPU & GPU to save itself from letting the magic smoke out and then hard crash.Β lumiya is no longer available from reputable sources, so I would strongly advise you don't bypass all the security present on your device by sideloading it and handing over your SL login credentials.

There have been multiple attempts to run SL "in the cloud" and then stream that to you mobile device, you can even try it yourself with steam in home streaming. It's a bad experience.

First. What viewer? If you don't mind me asking. Curious about your skill level since you obviously seem to question mine.

Second. You wouldn't be the first viewer developer I've spoken to over the years and from what I've been lead to believe from each one is that there is a massive difference in how each viewer is coded. So while true they are based on LL code as far as graphical viewers are concerned they are absolutely not all the same. Not everyone carbon copies viewer features from one to the next just like that.

And Singularity is absolutely not like any other viewer. I'm not even arguing that. I stand by what I said on that viewer.

Also if that were the case in terms of being allowed to log in then text based viewers would not exist. Either way that is neither here nor there. Really has nothing to do with my point.

Thirdly. You pretty much validated exactly what I said in regards to beating a dead horse. You essentially said the same thing in a different way. So I don't really disagree with you because you basically made my exact same point. So thank you. lolπŸ‘

That sadly has nothing to do with it. SL textures are easy to blame as you have to wait for them to load and decode, it's a massive red herring.

Games are designed entirely differently to Second Life. The only common point is that both games and SL will render things in 3D, how they get to that 3D endpoint couldn't be further apart, the difference is what makes SL.

The version of ARK on your phone is not the same as the version that runs on your PC or dedicated games console.

I disagree. While I am not a Second Life viewer developer I am someone who has created and worked on many mod projects in the past in several various gaming communities over the last 25 years in my spare time off and on. So I know a thing or two about a thing or two. lol So challenge accepted.

I'll submit two examples validating my point. First we'll work from the ground up. Take Star Wars Galaxies Legends. Pretty old mmo right? Can run on a potato PC by today's standards. However if you pop one of the higher end texture mods over all of the entire game those system requirements sky rocket right on up.

Now let's work from the sky down. Take Elden Ring for example. Pretty high end game right? Brand new in fact. Minimum on the video card alone is 4 gigs, recommended 8 gigs. Know why? Texture resolutions. I could easily scale those same graphics down and reduce the games size and make it run on a potato machine with 1 gig video card.

Your comment about Ark Mobile again has validated my point. Of course it runs. The textures were designed for it to.

The PC version of Ark. It's sort of a no brainer it obviously would not which is exactly what I originally stated in the first place.

So it's pretty obvious they are not going to be the same. Which is again leading right back to my original point.πŸ‘

It's really not and fundamentally misunderstands how any of this works.

If it was even half that simple, someone would have just done it in the last 16 years, even if just for the lulz.

I understand more then you think. Maybe I am reading you wrong, but I get the sense you're trying to downgrade my intelligence level rather then offering a feasible explanation as to why something can't be coded to be done in a Second Life viewer. If that's the case you might want to pull that shirt with someone who actually hasn't contributed to the creation of mods packs that re-scaled entire games from the ground up.

As for why someone hasn't done it in the last 16 years. You tell me. You're a developer you said. Why haven't YOU done it? Fair question right? You say the 3D end point is different. Let's start there. How so? The viewer controls how the world is rendered. Explain to me how it can't control that rendering process to fit a much smaller scale for lower end devices. I am curious to why when several other platforms that render via a browser out here can, but yet Second Life is some how unable to.

I mean outright gave you and everyone else the fix. I said it because I've never once in all the years on this platform seen anyone else say it. People are to busy trying to get it to render on their phone like they can their computers. That's always seemed to be the focus. Not ever gonna happen. We obviously both agree on that even.

I feel like you call yourself trying to tear me down and yet in all your reasons you gave you pretty much validated every single solitary word I said as to why it won't happen. However you didn't explain why it can't. You were to busy trying to call BS on what I said in which you are actually dead wrong about. Backed it up with examples even. One of which you can currently test out and see for yourself if you feel so inclined to do so. So I showed you'd mine. Now show me yours.😎

As to the rest, I don't engage with rudeness, so I'll see myself out of your replies.

Well all rightey then. lol Sensitive much? lol I take it you don't have a lot of experience with someone who is straight forward to the point and blunt. lol I was not being intentionally rude. 17 pages and people still bring the same tired stuff along which has been answered multiple times.

At least some are arguing their fears more openly, like dragging up the "grooming" bogeyman, the "men in women sports" catastrophe and so much more which, let's face it, has nothing whatsoever to do with establishing another themed forum here. Ah right, having a themed forum requires moderation, segregates around the topic and is generally somewhat wrong.Β

Why, oh why has this to be dragged around with such a sudden energy, when the whole set of forums here already impedes all our freedoms by letting us talk within a specified topic, throwing the book at off topic posts. Does a Fashion forum impede the freedoms of the jeans and t-shirt faction? Would the script library forum not discriminate against beginners or writers of bad code? Where do we see flamewars around the proper placement of curly brackets?

This whole 'discussion' here does mainly show one thing, that bigot feelings and bogeymen of culture wars indeed rank so much higher for certain circles than tolerance and acceptance. Which, in my opinion, does absolutely confirm the positive need of the requested LGBTQ+ forum, not to diminish any other minority or perceived majority, but to give this certain collection of minorities another piece of acceptance we allegedly have all over the place.

Whose Safe Space is perceived as endangered here by just suggesting such a forum? Not mine, I know that much.

A few fun facts. Grooming bogeyman. Actually a thing. Grooming boogeyman tried pushing up on me when I was a teenager. Grooming bogeyman almost got beat in to the ground by my boss at the time who is gay btw and don't play that mess. So that is an actual thing. lol Don't sit there acting like it ain't. And if you're referring to the parental rights bill passed in Florida, people should absolutely NOT be bringing their personal lives to work and be discussing things above their pay grade with other peoples kids. Period. End of story. That's not even up for debate. So end of discussion on that note.

Side note on the boss man though. He is also one of the reasons I did not have a complete negative outlook on the Gay now called the LGTBQ+ community. So big thanks to him. Gotta give credit where credit is due.πŸ‘

Men in women sports. Actually a thing. Legit concerns there too. Transitioning isn't an exact science. If it was that cut, dry, and simple then it would absolutely not be a topic for such heated debates. So until it is it is going to continue to be a heated topic of debate. Women do have legit concerns and they have just as much a right to voice them as anyone else does.

As for the forum section I pretty much stand by what I said. So it's whatever floats peoples boats as far as that goes. Just since you felt the need to throw that little tid bit in there I had to add a few fun facts to it and as we know facts don't care about your feelings. lol🀣

Not sure what you're talking about here. I'm straight and nobody's kicked me out of this thread yet. I seriously highly doubt anyone would kick me out of the sub forum if created, either.Β

Note the + in LGBTQ+. There are more identities and orientations included than the shortened acronym. Q can also mean questioning for some, which means they're still exploring and finding out about who they are and where they fit. And there are friends and allies of the community who provide support who I would also hope (though I'll go ahead and be bold enough to assume) will not be kicked out, either. Not only that, but I don't think people without any connection to the community whatsoever would be yeeted either. That's not the goal at all and I'd be disappointed if that happened. All should be welcome.

Well I'm not sure what was confusing about what I said actually. It is clear why such a section would be requested. All I did was call BS. Ya, sure you're chatting in this thread. And? You think you or I some how would be welcome and truly accepted in an LGTBQ+ sub-section? Really? You seriously think that? OK I'll play along. Maybe at first, sure. That'd would last right up until the day you or I didn't agree with something that didn't conform to the BS. Then you're labeled a bigot and what ever other vile names people think up. So don't kid yourself and think you're one of the cool kids on the block. You will end up with your feelings hurt. lol You're considered an ally right up until the very minute you don't agree and conform with something. I'm speaking from experience on that one. These forums ain't no better then Twitter. lol🀣

    Literal homophobia & transphobia.

Wouldn't want to risk bumping uglies if the uglies might match. That might lead to feelings and all kinds of self questioning, and perhaps making a voice verified group to keep track of all the people they managed to bully into defending themselves, and honestly .. who has time for that.

Seriously? lol Playing the phobia card? lol Maybe they just have a preference. Either way from what the OP describes asshat pretty much covers it all. lol🀣

  21. Well personally I don't care if there is a LGTBQ+ sub-forum or not added. I'm not against it, but let's call it what it is. A place where straight people aren't allowed. (Gonna say straight because cis gendered sounds way entirely to much like sissy gendered to me. lol🀣 ) Let's at least cut the BS and be honest about that much. It ain't about trolls or whatever blah blah BS reason. It's all about a form of segregation which is a popular trend now days. People want to bring it back. I'm personally not with that program, but if people want to be stupid and bring it back in the form of so called safe spaces and have history repeat itself all over again then by all means knock yourselves out. lol Just keep in mind people segregation works both ways. For example I am about to go segregate myself back to watching my stories. lol Good luck with that people.πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž

  22. Ya know I was doing some research on this. I didn't even know this was a thing until recently when my phone provider forced me off my old flip phone to one of them new fangled pocket puters. lol However after a few weeks and peeking under the hood of an Android OS confirming it is indeed based off of a Linux system I have come to a few conclusions that actually bring me to something I've said about SL running on low end PC's from day one.

First if amuses me they'd even need mobile regions in the first place. Second Life is an mmo. The Viewer is the client that renders all the visuals and the grid is the server that hosts all our data. Just like any other mmo. Played around with OSG and peeked under the hood a long time ago so I know what I am talking about. It is not really that hard and complicated if the person has the technical know how to create a viewer that renders the world in lower resolution textures.

I mean that's half the problem. People keep beating a dead horse trying to render PC size resolution textures on devices not designed for it. Take Ark for example. That game is by far superior in visuals compared to Second Life and yet we have a mobile version of it as well too that runs very smoothly I might add. Why? Because you're not running PC sized textures designed for high end video cards on a mobile phone. Duh. lolπŸ€ͺ

So there is never going to be a mobile viewer worth a crap until that issue is addressed. The world needs to render in a viewer that converts to or renders in low resolution textures. Period. End of story. That's the only way that works.

Personal recommendation for anyone willing to tackle it. The source code for the Singularity Viewer would be ideal for this. It operates and renders the world the way old school viewers did. For a Linux based system it is by far superior in performance compared to any other viewer out there even including Firestorm. It can operate purely in opengl which is what you need and unlike every other viewer it utilizes true full screen and not window mode full screen which is complete crap in terms of performance.

Anyway that's my two cents. I'm sure someone will argue it, but that's pretty much the reality of it. Take care and be safe everyone.😎
