    Me? No. Which means I wouldn't be a good candidate to sign up for the Senra Devkit. Other creators can update their products later, if they'd like. Or release the Senra size separately. Whatever works best for their brand.

    You give them if that's part of the agreement you signed. 

    I agree that this should at least be disclosed. And if your content is stolen by someone else, you have the right to file DMCA takedowns and other legal avenues already present in the US legal system that LL operates under.

    You fix it, or you stop making things for Senra if you can't.

    This already happens. Often. And creators either explain it, or don't. That's their prerogative.

    It doesn't just waste a newbies money. It provides a usable body for new users that is easy to understand and learn to use. It still functions as a mesh body, just with a different infrastructure. Nobody is required to use a premium mesh body/head. An upgrade is not necessary. By your logic, why should LL even provide a free body? Why isn't content for Ruth or dog lady banned? It's just a waste of money if they end up upgrading later, right? Why don't they just charge new users $60 USD for their account and start them with Maitreya or Jake and a Lelutka EvoX head and a smattering of clothes from some big brands?

    No one is digging Ruth up and giving her corpse a spin just in case.

    Even then, your argument assumes no one will make free or cheap content for these bodies. They will. Store gifts and freebies have been a thing as long as SL has. Also, nothing in the terms says your package can only contain Senra items. Just that the Senra Unpacker HUD itself must only contain Senra Items. You don't even need to use the Senra Unpacker. The tips page says you can use it. So the multi-body fatpacks that currently exist can grow to include Senra items as well, if creators so desire.

    We all do it. New users now do it. It's part of the growing pains of learning the system. I would bet that very few new users are jumping straight into buying a L$2000+ mesh body and L$5000+ mesh head without spending some money customizing Ruth first.

    From a business point of view, ideally the new user will buy a few things for their Senra av to learn how to shop and customize using third party content, then move on to a more full-featured, premium body and head. There's a reason the new avatars are visually very clearly not attempting to compete with Reborn, Maitreya, Legacy, and Lelutka.

    I see nothing wrong with new users buying content for the avatar that comes with their account. Plenty of people use Ruth and have a full, enjoyable SL experience, despite the fact that it is not a premium mesh body.

    I've said this on twitter, but i'll repeat it here:
    I get why they're doing it this way, even if it ruffles some feathers.

    In having these very specific requirements, they’re attempting to ensure the Senra system stays straightforward and easy to use throughout its life. Unfortunately, they’re ruffling content creators’ feathers along the way, because it’s very different to how things are currently done.

    They likely want to review items before release to make sure they’re quality, with no troubleshooting required on the user’s end, and to make sure you’re following the guidelines they’ve laid out. They want only Senra items to be unpacked by the Senra HUD so that users can just unpack and wear items that they know will fit them, without having to sift through and figure out which is the right size. It keeps things straightforward and easy to use. Same with the naming convention they require. If the info is formatted the exact same every time, users can easily figure out exactly what they need to know about an item.

    The Senra system seems to be intentionally unlike the current system, which new users find to be extremely confusing and difficult to learn to use. And if they don't have strict rules about it, it will become just another body option, and very unapproachable just like the rest.

    Not everyone will want to abide such strict rules just to make content for these bodies, and that's fine. Those that will, will be able to profit from it. The rest will still have their own market share.

    Edit: To clarify, when I talk about "the current system", I'm speaking of the way that avatars are currently customized, how products are marketed and sold, and the mesh body market as a whole.

    If they had been smart, instead of angering people for over 2 weeks, they could have posted a flag on the MP letting people know that as of such and such a date, the MP will be closed for a long needed update.  They could have spent that time implementing things, testing them, redoing what needed redone, etc.  

    Working on that car while it's running down the road is just a recipe for disaster, IMO.

    Honestly. They also seem not to understand that a TON of people on SL could barely use the marketplace to begin with because of tech literacy issues. Now that more skill and precision is required to get specific results, it would not surprise me to see marketplace sales drop.

    Yep! As with any mesh heads and bodies that aren't BoM compatible (the M4 Venus isn't except under very specific circumstances), you'll need to wear an alpha that covers your default body part.

  9. I'd be happy to help you out at no charge. :) Happy to see fresh blood in my favorite aspect of SL. To answer some of what you've posted here:

    1. Land for the establishment: You don't necessarily need land to start a business. In fact, unless you intend to sell furniture, homes, or other things that would be better-suited to a rezzed, inworld demo, I would advise starting on the marketplace first! You can set up a marketplace storefront for absolutely zero upfront cost, and zero upkeep costs. The only cost to you for marketplace sales is that Linden Labs takes a 10% commission fee out of every sale you make. It seems a bit steep, but unless you're also planning to sell a lot of big-ticket items, this will often end up cheaper overall than an inworld store. Plus, many consumers like the convenience marketplace shopping brings. Even if you do opt for an inworld store, I would HIGHLY recommend setting up a marketplace store as well to get more eyes on your products, and more feet in your store. To begin setting up your marketplace store, log in to marketplace.secondlife.com and click the "My Marketplace" button at the top of the screen, then click "Merchant Home" on the dropdown.

      However, if you ARE selling things that need to be rezzed, rather than worn, to be seen, or you're dead-set on having a physical presence, you can always buy or rent land. If you'd like to own land, you'll first need a premium membership through Linden Labs, as well as some starting funds in the form of lindens. Once you actually purchase your land, you'll also need to pay for the appropriate tier level for the size of land you have. All premium accounts have 1024sq m of free tier to put towards a parcel. It would technically be possible to squeeze a small store into a parcel this size and not have to pay any monthly fees except the cost of premium alone, but you're likely going to be making some sacrifices in your build. Further, premium membership gives you L$300/wk, plus a L$1000 stipend if you've never been premium before, and you keep the service for at least 45 consecutive days. You can use this money to invest in your business. You can find parcels for purchase by checking the world map in-game and looking for the $ icon around the map. You can find more information about tier pricing here, and more info about buying land here.

      Alternatively, you could do away with the whole process of premium membership, and tier, and all that stuff, and rent land from another SL user. Renting can give you a lot more options for store types at any budget, from as small as a 10 land-impact allotment to place on a pre-built kiosk, all the way up to renting full sims you can build in from the ground up. Just be sure that, whatever or wherever you're renting, you check the land-owner's rental policies to be sure they allow commercial operations on their land, as many do not. You can find land rentals by searching for "rental" or "mall" either on the SL website, or in the search function in-game
       
    2. Building a store - Whether you're renting or buying, you're going to first need vendors to place your objects in to sell them. CasperTech offers amazing vendors that are well-loved across the grid for the ease-of-use and features they offer. They even have some free models if you're really on a budget. I highly recommend you give them a look. Next, you'll need to actually set up shop. If you're renting a tiny kiosk with only a few LI to work with, I would recommend rezzing just your vendor(s), a sign, and perhaps something people can click to get a link to your marketplace store and/or join your group, if you have one. If you're renting a predone storefront in a mall, there will likely already be walls in place, so you'll have your full allotted land impact to place down vendors, group joiners, signs, and decorations. You can find all of these things on the marketplace website. If you're renting or buying an empty parcel, you'll also need some sort of structure to house your merch. I've seen stores as simple as a big, flat wall with a bunch of vendors, but you likely want something flashier. There are loads of pre-made store buildings on the marketplace, so find one that meets your size requirements, land impact allotment, and budget, and place it down. You could also build a structure yourself, but unless you're good at 3D modeling, this isn't advised, as you'll end up spending a lot of your land impact on prims, and you won't get a very nice looking end-product. Once you have your building down, you just fill with your vendors, group joiners, signs, and decorations as before. 
       
    3. Extras -  You'll want to get an idea for your brand's theme, logos, and overall style before you begin making any type of storefront, on the marketplace or otherwise. Making a 2D logo and sign that you can use on both the marketplace and on a flat prim inworld is a great starting point, assuming you haven't already done that. Choose (or create) items and colors to decorate your store that compliment the overall aesthetic of your products. Look to other successful inworld businesses in your market sector for inspiration. 

      If you have any more specific questions, i'd be happy to answer them. Alternatively, if this all seems like a massive headache, i'd be happy to help you plan and set things up inworld, while teaching, for a bit of compensation for the time spent.

    @Reyetta Claven, Fenix and I are getting at the same point, but he's less subtle than I am.  If you have absolutely no idea what channel the thing is listening on, it will take you the better part of a century to check just the positive ones at the rate of one every second.  Even if you automate the system, it's going to take a ridiculously long time.  That's why scripters typically have their scripts operate on a randomly selected channel.  It's almost impossible to guess, no matter how patient you are..

    I know it might be futile, but on the off chance it's a relatively low channel, i'm going to put a small amount of effort into figuring it out. If I don't find it after an hour of watching youtube in another tab while I try, then i'll give up. I'd feel really silly if it was under like, 2k and I didn't find it, which I realize is unlikely, but I've got to try.

    I do not have access to it, no. And the creator is no longer on SL, or i'd just ask. Yes, the object speaks on that channel.

    How do I know which channel it's currently on? Forgive me, i'm rather inexperienced with scripting.

    I am speaking of the issue regarding why things get removed, unlisted, (no no words lists) etc..and how LL is handling this whole debacle-which is getting worse and worse. You'd have to read the forum to probably understand why it's such a pressing issue, or be/know someone affected by it, especially in the recent bouts. There's one relatively newer thread about it, but there are countless others that have all addressed this very annoying problem over the years. It's something causing merchants to leave MP, slow (or stop) putting things on MP, be hesitant to make changes to their stores at all, and all kinds of other problems. It really is the most pressing problem with MP, without a doubt, as it is 100% negative for all, even people that think they're not affected. How this gets handled, fixed, prevented, is going to ste the pace for the future of the MP if it keeps going at the rate it currently is (which has grown exponentially). 

    It does address the issue in a way that is manageable for LL. Things will still be miscategorized, but gachas are nearly always listed as limited quantity items, and few other things are, so the ability to filter them out will immensely reduce the amount seen in searches. There was no need to "lmao" at me and be so rude and patronizing simply because I was incorrect. I get that you're very passionate about your issue, but there's no need to take it out on other users.

    I had a quick look at the merchant section of the forums before posting that and didn't see what you were talking about. The gacha issue is the only thing i'd really heard about with any regularity with regards to the marketplace. I can see how the issue of things being unlisted seemingly at random would be one that people feel would need addressing ASAP, but you didn't mention that in your first post. You beat around the bush and implied that we just needed to be there to understand.

    I'm actually getting angrier about the more pressing issue with the MP and things that are being royally screwed up by LL, in many cases at an extreme level as of late. 

    Are you speaking on the uncategorized gacha issue? Because that is seemingly being addressed at least. If not, care to clarify?
