I wonder what made you think of posting this. Were you designs ripped of by someone else?
Every clothing "designer" would be a thief if there's such a thing as copyright for a piece of garment. People need to understand the difference between a fashion designer and a clothes maker , a garment design and brand signature design.
This is just how fashion is. IRL, the big name fashion houses create these luxurious and over the top clothing every season, then comes the cheap fashion brands like Zara, Topshop, Forever 21 that take elements from the those fashion houses' designs and incorporate it into their own designs and sell them. Every season, they copy elements from the runway shows and sell them openly, that's how they create a "fashionable" image for their brand, by ripping off and supplying people with what they see on the runways. Even in the circle of of notable fashion designers, there are issues about copying like when Giorgio Armani claimed that the Dolce&Gabbana duo copied his quilted pants design from his collection in 2008. If there is no copying, then there is no such thing as a trend and so there would be no such thing as fashion. A person is only fashionable if there are others who want to be like/look like them and therefore copies them. That's one of the reason why the luxury fashion houses don't really do anything about knock offs.
In SL, where do the creators get the source/idea for their creations anyway? Do they own the photos that they use for making the clothes? The fabric texture, leather texture, print designs, lace details , sequins & etc - I doubt a lot of the creators actually own the pictures that they used to make their items. Are the creations based on a real life designs or a design from movie/ another game/ personality? There are plenty of skins out there that are made with celebrities photos- does the celebrity or photographer get anything?Unless the item is completely handdrawn and is not based on something else, I don't think it can be considered as art or can be claim as their original creation.
