  1. I think it's great.

Like it or not all those oiled up bimbo ads in search and giant mesh dongs on the marketplace is really tacky.

Definitely should not be first (or second, third, fourth fifth...) thing user see just because they are 18+ and have adult checked.

If it's going to be something which many people will use they will need to keep these tacky cheap sexual content at bay.

  2. How do full perm mesh sellers enforce their policies?

like not giving item as freebies or not reselling the item above a minimum price.

I see many items sold at the marketplace made with full perm mesh sold below the minimum price set by the full perm creator. Like L$10 tops or even freebies.

Do they just let it go?

  3. It was never the topic of this thread to discuss solutions to copybotting. It was you that brought up "the biggest problem I see in SL..." out of the bue and jacked this thread. but copybotting or just piracy is a difficult to control we all know that. There does not seem to be a solution and what you suggested is just another suggestion that is not very well thought out.

first in creating sculpt shoes and feet...wow such value. sorry never heard of you. other creators can do without your plugin. you have not created anything of value in world that people would want to steal. are you one of the people that like to comment first on youtube videos?

  4. disagree

of course not all people are the stereotype but that's the people, not the stereotype. the stereotype itself is a positive one.

and no most gamers do not take "geek" negatively.  they are proud of being tech geeks and apart of geek culture. only old people see geeks as a negative term. nerds and geeks are now what's cool.

you seem to be one of those people that like to turn everything into negativity.

  5. stereotypes aren't always bad like say asians are smart for example.

many gamers will jokingly say or openly admit they don't have a real life and spend most of their time gaming. there's pride in their geek culture and being a "real" gamer and it's certainly ok to ask how much time they spend on a certain game without people getting defensive.

somehow it's viewed as antagonistic here...

    and more smileys, just because

Ahh... nothing like excessive smileys "just because"

everyone knows you're burned when you have to desperately prove that you're not.

    really immature defense mechanism

  7. Confrontational? Says the person who posted this first

You do realize it literally takes seconds, minutes at most, to post things, right?

That doesn't equate to "hours" spent  in, or on, sl.

That said, I'm not sure why someone would care about how much time others spend on a hobby they enjoy.

Yes that scenario could happen but the percentage of people willing to rip textures for such a purpose is very very small.  They would have to find both shirts rezzed in world someplace to rip the textures.  Way too much trouble for the average buyer who is also willing rip textures to bother with.

Copybotters and texture rippers are only a problem if they can turn around and sell what they have stolen.  My proposal that in the new virtual world only "Premium Members" be allowed to sell on the marketplace or in world or give items to another resident would cut this down to a minimum.

Think about it.  If a copybotter or ripper can only use the items for themselves there is no real loss to the content creator since the person who is willing to use copybot or rip mesh most likely would never buy the item in the first place even if there was no such thing as copybot or ripper.  People who use copybot are lazy thieves and lazy thieves don't spend money for things.  I am not saying if they are caught they shouldn't be punished or banned from SL.  I am not saying it is OK to copybot or ripp mesh.

Omg...you are completely oblivious to the dark side of SL. Practically a noob. You don't know about the that forum that shall not be named.

No, copybotters and texture rippers and their community is certainly not a small percentage.

No, copybotters and texture rippers don't only cause problems when they sell. They are freaking giving out textures out for free. It's literally piracy. They are far more organized than what you are thinking. They are not petty thieves, they have a network and many reasons for copybotting and ripping than to just get the item, most are sociopathic and seek to troll and destroy creators which they dislike. They have their own viewer. They don't rip for themselves, they spread them and they are required to share what they have stolen to be a part of that gang.

Banning does not work, they have numerous accounts and keep coming back. If you've created anything of real value you would have dealt with them and known this.

Not only have they stolen, they have become more brazen in recent years and claim what they have stolen as their own creation in RL and gotten the original creators to close shop. Every now and then there's news of another legitimate creator leaving because of the problem created by this gang.

  9. so it's taboo to ask how much time people spend on SL...silly

if don't want to share then just don't answer don't have to get defensive

and i thought here people were proud of being on sl because because sl is sogreat and there's so much to do and all

  10. yeah that false sense of entitlement

these kids..they were not here in the sculpt era when a good sculpt jacket or dress can cost around L$500 and clothes were so much more expensive overall than clothes made with full perm mesh kits now. sculpt boots and shoes can go L$800 a pair. hair was L$250-300 and only 5 colors in a pack now we have more colors in a pack. everything was more expensive and lower quality back then. even L$200 for jacket is considered expensive these days.

  11. example full perm mesh of a t shirt L$300, one designer buy that mesh and make t shirt with a tiger picture sells for L$400, anothoer designer make t shirt with a bird picture sells for L$400.

person wants both tiger t shirt and bird t shirt

if purchase from both designers the total spent will be L$800

if purchase full perm mesh and gets free ripped tiger and bird texture from texture ripper total spent will only be L$300

copybotters and texture rippers are a big problem in SL. It's already happening now which why resell items are very cheap.

what you suggest will benefit the full perm mesh makers only since they are the ones getting the most sales from so many reseller reselling the same mesh with textures that can ripped easily

texture alone has little value and will be targeted by texture rippers if it is good leaving little profit for the reseller.
