  1. With some effort mesh can look better. It's why I upgraded, at first simply for realistic hands and feet. You highlight a good point tho, acquiring new mesh clothing, mesh body parts, skins and mesh accessories was a pain.
  2. Try changing shapes. You can change back right away.
  3. I'm often a dinkie or a steampunk fox now, simpler and more fun... not sure why I stayed human for so long, but I still go there, and do, tho I'm still just Gianni... which isn't just "just" Gianni, Signature makes good stuffs
  4. It's gonna slow my sl economy, since I don't sell goods (but I do buy them, go to clubs, tip DJ's & hosts, clothes, buildings, avatars, freaky stuffs, etc).. also dampens my interest in renting a homestead
  5. Hi, I need a theater built with a steampunk theme. A steampunk Globe Theater is my main idea, but others might work. I have elements, and of course marketplace but simply adding mesh/prims to an existing theater seems like it'd get 'heavy'. I'm hoping for a mostly mesh build that is visible at distance. Some prims might work too, textured right. Please reach out to me in world. Thx!
  6. What's the best way to hire a builder, what I need (building) involves mesh, beyond my skills. Any help? Thx.
  7. yes, I caught them up lol... not gonna be dead if i don't have to be
  8. I had RL medical probs and it took a lotta time, but to my SL friends I died. Came back to my in-world tombstone and all... which actually gave me good vibes.
  9. Not really sure what to title it, but are there guides in world for non-profit or social work installs/builds/communities?
  10. Recovery coach, addiction rehab (care coordinator type stuffs), sometimes writer.
  11. Hi, locking objects, does it affect scripts or just position? I've been locking en masse, but don't know, tho I've not encountered problems yet.
  12. Prefer Heterocera, open to others.
  13. Prefer road and rail, heterocera water and road, and rail. Square. A simple region name. Prefer, not a mandate. Square is kinda a mandate. Not too bendy. TY much. Looking to buy/rent.
  14. Looking for mainland... wondering about this. Are rez zones bordering your land a hassle or good for business?
  15. It's tight, they don't come loose often, particularly houseboats. Took me a month of daily tries.
  16. Hi friends. I like saying "speak, friend, and enter" from LOTR. It's saying "I'm a friend, and act/think/feel like a friend, I'm safe".
  17. The paradox, if there are aliens in Second Life, where are they? I trained my radio telescopes on the heavens, flew spaceships through wormholes... nada. I want to meet the Zenpunks, the boho hippies, the avatars from The Island of Misfit Toys. Or aliens. Humans too. Robots.
  18. Gianni is cool. I can't find an old man skin for it though, and while my avatar looks 30, my typist is older. I tried searching here too Any older skins out there? Hair? Beards? I have been looking, and buying stuff that doesn't fit gianni
  19. Fun is just toolin' my own things, on my own sim. Community is fun too, but it's not restricted to that. I think that expectations of SL were pretty high, but that it's still challenging to develop a real time virtual environment for expression.
  20. Appreciate the input... generated a seperate cache for Firestorm on second disk and everything seems fine, even a bit of lag loss (few FPS) - probably from not having to access the same local cache of two different viewers simultanously on same disk (multiple avvies) - not sure if this will solve the duplication thing yet tho.. will ressurect this post if it occurs - this is on OSX 10.6 btw, probably should have mentioned that before. Thanks
  21. Appreciate all the info's and M.O.'s.... I thiink I will go with a dedicated avvie for constructs and share perms with my RP'er alts. Would seem to be the best of everything described
  22. I run multiple viewers, (Firestorm, Phoenix, Linden) and just ditched Phoenix for the release Firestorm - I also did a complete reinstall of Firestorm and Linden viewers only recently, and when I restarted Firestorm the first time, my inventory cache started loading duplicates in objects only... (thank god!) I am assuming this is just normal behavior and not a bug... but if anyone knows, I'd appreciate info on it... (I'm assuming the Phoenix Viewer, or the Firestorm beta was replicating on the shared cache, but not sure)
  23. yes, and no - prior behavior of the viewer was different, but after several dozen trials and with some help from Netgear, I found a resolution and do not consider this a security risk - which is what my concern was.
  24. I am headed toward building my first RP estate/area...but I've noticed some real differences in approach to how people do this. Some use an alt, others their primary... or teams of the same. I can't think of any advantage right away, other than it being harder to accidentally delete builds, or remain anonymous in the RP scenario. Are there others that might apply?
  25. For my part it's usually jealousy/frustation over something not going smoothly or as expected - such as a more experienced character defeating me, or stumbling into an arc-rail story (one that can't be altered, so no suggestion, idea, action will matter - there is almost no point in being there sometimes). - but that's on me. Sometimes the situation just wasn't forseen, and RP cooperation is not assured for important reasons. Playing a sci-fi sim (now gone) we had a pretty funky irreverant engineer who'd visit our ship frequently. He did nothing but get drunk and unfriendly time after time. We got attacked and boarded, and suddenly he's up and coherent and messing with engineering... well, after fighting off the first wave of boarders, three of us ran him to ground - he did not cooperate. Not knowing what else to do, and without restraints or a way to deal with keeping him in one spot - we kept unloading on him repeatedly (with weapons). He was pissed, and considered it griefing - I finally contacted him and explained his behavior was that of a saboteur, that we had no way to restrain him, and if he was a saboteur, we needed to keep him isolated. He agreed to hate me IC, and we otherwise dropped it OOC. Communications can go a long ways - sometimes it doesn't float tho, but I try to make my outreach, particularly if I am in the wrong, after that tho, the rest is on the other party.
