  1. Are you using firestorm. The firestorm bridge sometimes shows up as a giant rock (I've never had it happen, but have heard about it quite a few times). I checked, and yes, the firestorm bridge is made by Eric LInden. If this is the case, detach it, delete it, then go to Avatar > Avatar health > Recreate LSL Bridge, and that should fix it.
  2. watersoul is primarily a furry escort club, but I've met a lot of good friends just hanging out there (although recently it hasn't been as active). IYC is *very* popular, but when I go there I can't move because of all the lag. The Ark used to be *the* furry hang out. It isn't as active as it used to be, but you'll usually find a small crowd there.
  3. what sort of hang out are you looking for. You want a place to just hang out and chat with people? or are you looking for some of the more "frisky" furries in adult locations? For just hanging out, try luskwood or furnation. For some of the more mature groups try watersoul or rainbow tiger. You should be able to find these in search....hope this helps.
  4. The notecard one is particularly annoying. I always reject the door spam, but sometimes I'll check a place out and decide I *want* the notecard. But at that point there's no way to get it. I'll walk around the greeter, TP out then back in again, but no notecard. One place I TP'd into I got a flood of spam....and there was a lucky board with an M on it and little time left. So I clicked the board. I tried to be very careful about going through the flood of dialogs, but somehow ended up with a landmark and no goodies
  5. Have a landmark... Have a notecard... Join our group... Can I display your profile pic... Can I change your windlight settings?.... By the time I'm done working my way through the door spam, I'm no longer interested in visiting where ever it is I've just landed. I don't know why so many people think it's a good idea to throw all of these obstacles between them and my money.

smaller prims is also a bonus I've noticed. One of the adjustments I had to do to my furniture was make the shadow underneath each one bigger, so it would shrink down more. With the mesh chair, it's part of the same object (and only one face, so already infinitely thin), so the chair can be shrunk way down without having to worry about that.

After speaking with a customer who primarily uses a tiny avatar, I went through and made some modifications to my entire line of furniture to accommodate tiny avatars should they decide to resize the items. Most of my stuff is sculpty, but I have one chair that is mesh, and when I resized it to a size more fitting for a tiny avatar it dropped the PE. It looks like tiny avatars are going to be able to fit more mesh stuff on their land than other people. So, tinies win xD
  8. Great list, thank you for posting. I think everything on my wish list for the feeds is on that list. Awesome
  9. I second that. It would be nice if people could follow my feed without having to friend me. I'd also like to see either an RSS button on the web profile, or a twitter-esque API so that the feed could be streamed to a website or app.
  10. Just read through this whole thread...ah memories I remember the "image missing" texture ( http://www.datenform.de/blog/uploaded_images/mi2-704131.jpg ) If you hit Ctrl+Alt+Shift+H it says "hippos!" in your chat window (but only you can see it). That's my contribution to the list
  11. You forgot to mention that, in order to get your free swag, you have to go to a "premium only" region. Makes me wonder if SL is going to start being separated into high class servers, and low performance ghettos.
  12. ah, nope that wouldn't be me. I actually steered away from lighting after looking at your shop. Figured you've got that market covered, so I could focus on other things and simply refer people to you until I had more time to tackle that market As for weighting new shops, I actually hope not. I would be worried if I suddenly shot up in the search results. Sure it would mean more traffic for a while, but it would also mean that stable businesses would be overshadowed by 'fly-by-night' shops. That wouldn't help serious merchants, and certainly wouldn't help shoppers.
  13. I would be interested to know what key words you used, and I could check myself...btw, I have a relatively new shop (three months) with competing products to yours but with fewer items (hey, I've only been at it three months ). I would be curious to know myself, since my shop is the sort you're talking about. Although I haven't noticed any difference in the way I show up in search. And, yes, when I read your post I had to run and check my visitor counter to make sure you weren't talking about me
  14. you're welcome, it was fun helping you out. Oh, and to reduce saturation; in the color picker drag straight to the left in photoshop, or straight down in gimp - just for future reference
  15. The blue to black gradient looks good. And Madeliefste is right about trying several different ideas with the logo. What I suggested was just that; a suggestion. Something to try to see if it works. The glow you have on there is good, it adds a nice accent without overpowering it. But, yeah, keep working with the logo until you find something you like that "pops" (heck, I'm still messing with mine ). Also, if you look at companies like Coke, they have at least three logos that I know of, that they interchange regularly. And the sign is looking good. Thank you for lettings us help you with the make over
  16. First the positives: I like the bottom bar again It's simple and clean, and the border around the image gives it some depth. And you have a very nice "off pallet" color on the border and bottom bar. I would, as mad suggested, tone down the glow on your logo a *lot*. Also the "backstage" looks a bit cramped. Try extending the box to include TK, but make it white behind those letters. I'd also go a little more off color on the background behind the model, just drop down the saturation a bit. The display and watermark look good. Lastly, you have way too many fonts going on in there, especially on the price. You're using a serif font on that one, but the rest are sans-serif. Hope this is helpful and doesn't sound too nit picky. I was (and still am) just as critical of my own signs
  17. A couple things: In the original image you posted the bottom bar was very sleek and simple, and was nice to look at. Also, as I believe you mentioned, you'll want to water mark the template some how (some one could just snag the template from that pic). When selecting a color (such as the blue in the background), open the color picker in photoshop or gimp (whichever you're using) and in the big color square drag the circle (photoshop) or crossbeams(gimp) down and to the left at a 45 degree angle. This will give you a nice, non-standard color that won't overpower the item. You'll have to sort of watch the color change until you find one that is pleasing. Hope this helps
  18. Actually the blue print idea is a good one as long as it's subtle and doesn't distract from the item you're selling. I had thought about color coding as well, but didn't. If you go through my items and try to figure out my color code it may drive you crazy, cause there isn't one Just subtle, random variations in signs. It's just the color I felt like using that day. However, that could go either way; just one color, random colors, or a set color code for different categories....each has it's strong points and it's just a matter of personal preference for you.
  19. Uniformity among your signs is good, but you should change up the model and the poses. The overall sign you have is good except it needs a bit more variety. Both the foreground and back ground are black. Have a look at some of my items. I have the same overall set up, but I sometimes change the color of the sidebar. Again, I want to stress that the sign you have is a *very* good start. You just need to add some other (preferably lighter) color to it.
  20. Basically you're saying pretty much what I said. And, yes, Ty is really an exception to this situation as he is not concerned about traffic or profit. And understand, what I'm about to say is not directed at you, Toy, you actually do something with your photos. But I've seen so many "artists" that simply take a straight on snapshot of someone else's build and call it their own. As a builder I find this offensive. Eventually I will need to expand to an entire sim build, and as long as this is going on I will put the same restrictions on the land. It's unfortunate, but the small amount of traffic I would lose from you and other legitimate artists will be worth the cost of keeping out those who abuse that right. Not trying to start a debate, just pointing out that the issue goes beyond just some land owners arbitrarily locking down their land. They have concerns that also need to be addressed. I know who the big names are in the SL artist community, and you are among them, as are some of the people who commented on your blog. You're on the right track bringing this issue out in the open, you just need to take it a step further. If the sim owners know that their issues are also being addressed, they will be more likely to open their sims up to you and others again.
  21. When you take a picture of a build that some one else does, you're taking a picture of some one else's artwork. That's what it really boils down to. It's the same as if someone walked into your gallery and took pictures of your work. A person's artwork is copyrighted at the moment of creation. So sim owners have every right to lock down their work how ever they see fit. You may attribute the work, but the sad truth is many don't.
  22. Back before I got into SL (long long ago, in the before time ), I used to hang out at garage games (a site for independent game designers). A group there was creating a game based on Stargate for fun, until they got sent a cease and desist from the studio. In the four plus years I've been in SL, I've seen more stargates than I can count, along with full RP sims and complete, working stargate TP systems. And not a peep from the studio. I think many of the big names just don't consider SL worth even looking at. Of course I'm not going to plan on this being the case for ever.
  23. Chelsea Malibu wrote: They work extremely well however, the problem is getting into them. The large ones are very exclusive (or arrogant) and are hard to get into where the small ones, don't get any traffic as they are commonly disorganized. I have been looking for one for home and garden as well as a home and garden expo which I have not had much luck with. However, what I have seen that works the best is when a group of merchants gets together and creates their own. thppt if they turn their noses up at you, I'm not even going to try.
  24. I've been reading a lot of people complaining about the search, so decided to see how easy it was for someone to find me (if at all). I did a search for "couch". Of course none of mine showed up in the first 100 listings. /me shrugs...fair enough. I would, however, expect my couches to show up BEFORE beds, and sit poses, and.....water textures? WTF!?! So, yeah, I have to agree. I'll focus my efforts elsewhere just my two cents on the subject.
  25. Despite what some have said, the fact is mesh is here, and it's the direction SL is going. It's not "propaganda", you yourself commented on how good it looks. Personally I'm sick of how restrictive sculpties are and can't wait till I can do all my work in mesh. That said; You don't have to learn to work with mesh. The way I see (and I reserve the right to be wrong) one of two things will happen. Either LL will add the ability for mesh avatars to wear existing clothing layers (something that has been hinted at for the future), or some industrious mesh designer is going to do a line of avatars that become popular and include their own clothing template that you can use. (which I've already seen work being done in this area) On the other hand, I've also seen some very nice mesh clothing, and I will begin replacing my existing inventory with mesh as the good designers come out with more. It won't happen over night, but it will happen. Yes there's a lot of crap mesh clothing out there now, but what we're currently seeing is designers experimenting with it. Regardless of what happens, there will always be a need for good photoshoppers. Just keep an eye on the market and watch where things go. You may want to study up on UV maps a bit. most likely, until recently the only one you've encountered is the standard SL avatar clothing template. But mesh designers are making their own (for reasons that are outside the scope of this thread), and you'll need to learn to work with a different template.
