How much did you spend on your avatar?
Kelethus replied to AmyNevilly's topic in General Discussion Forum
My account is about a week and a half old... And I've purchased over L$81,000 worth of things ingame and off the marketplace site. >.> -
Premium user with tier set to allow 1024 plus the bonus thanks to not having a Linded home looking to buy something a little bit dark and gloomy (gothic/evil themed). Anything out there? **Only uploaded images may be used in postings**://secondlife.i.lithium.com/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif" border="0" alt=":smileyvery-happy:" title="Smiley Very Happy" />

Okay, home abandoned. ...Now I can't seem to figure out an easy way to shop for land. Tried the classifieds on the website... horrible layout. Most expensive listed first, no keyword options, blegh. Tried ingame search, I can't even load into half the regions that came up. I even googled "1024 second life land for sale" and the first 3 pages of results were everything I wasn't looking for. How the hell do you people buy or rent land? Seriously lol.

Something small that can fit a 26x26 home, not too stingy on prims but not too overdone either. Overall mood of the home is dark and ominous, so looking for something with less-than-healthy looking trees, graveyards... possibly something surrounded by snow, ash, dark stone. Midieval fantasy/gothic settings preferred. Specific things I'm looking for will be the ability for friends and group members to rez objects within my home, but not have permissions to things under my personal ownership (of course). I would like to be able to play a background song as media for anyone inside the home, not sure how that works, but if I'll take it if I can have it! Nothing over 1500 square meters please (My account tier can't handle more). My price range is probably going to be nothing more than L$800 a month for rent or L$7500 up front to buy. Please PM me on the forums or respond to this thread if you have something to sell :D

Lol! You're a genius. Hmmm... Now I have to go make a shopping list and add up my total projected prim count. Would anyone here happen to know where I could look up the average prim limits for the various tier sizes of land? Once I get a projected prim count and figure out the various levels of land limits, I can probably go ahead and safely adjust my account to the right tier.
-
It says it has 97 prims. Hmm... I'm hoping to fully furnish the place, with lights, a bed, furniture, wall decors, props, and things for the lawn like a fence, trees, etc. I would also like to be able to play a song as media for the area. Would that put me over the prim cap for a 1024 space on average with a 97 prim home? I have no idea how to compute this mainly because I have absolutely ne experience in this LOL... but my math guesstimations are telling me I'd be cutting it close, if not stepping overboard. I have no real issue kicking my tir up another level or two if I have to. It'll actually be cheaper than my original idea

So I think I'm ready to invest in some land and a tiny home. I actually just bought myself a dainty little 26x26 castle tonight and set my account up to the 516 tier, for a total of 1024 square meters allowed. ...26x26 will fit just fine in that, right? Also, I seem to be having issues abandoning my Linden home. Everywhere I'm reading it says to roll World > About Land... > Abandon Land. But my Abandon Land button is greyed out D: How do I shot home, guys? confusedspiderman.jpg

LOL.... Aren't you crafty. So you're saying, buy him what I want for him, have it error and return its value in Lindens, give him the lindens and port him to the stores to buy them ingame? I hereby grant you the sneaky ninja award.
-
Tried again, still isn't working. It just keeps refunding me in L$ and sending my account an email confirming it error'ed. Are free account alts able to purchase things off the market no different than a premium user? I'm thinking I may just log him into the market and simply use my card, if that'll work.
-
Topic says it all :( Status in my order history just says the item couldn't be delivered... then I get an email saying the communication timed out and my main gets refunded the item cost in Lindenbucks. Is this supposed to happen? x.x I just made my alt as a free account, I haven't done anything special like verified his payment and all that jazz, other than age verification. Tried many different vendors, all the same outcome. Am I doing anything wrong or is this something that needs fixing? ...On an interesting passing observation, this seems to be a neat way to bypass the whole new account L$ buy limit >.> <.< Not that I'm doing it intentionally! D:
-
I'll be honest, I'm not entirely sure how Linden calculates the limits on how much USD you can spend to purchase L$ for the ingame stores, but my limit seems to be stuck at $1 for a couple days now D: Anyone know if this is normal? The way I read it, I kind of thought the buy limit was reset daily, but now I'm a little confused. I also read that the limit is merely in place to better serve the game's residents and prevent fraud, and you could submit a ticket for a review to get your limit raised... but the way it was described, I wasn't sure if that was a sort of thing I should do until I've been around for a while first. Do you guys know of any solutions? So much stuff I want to buy, but it doesn't look like I can... and I'm not sure when it'll let me again D:
-
Wow, you really explained that out for me. Good thing I didn't listen to my friendtard! Thank you! Alright, Looks like I'm on the market for some land. I'll venture into the auctions and see what's happening today. Just a heads up for all you roleplayers, once I figure out my technical issues with DCS2, I plan on creating a group intended for roleplay and arena combat that's will be open to public and groupmates alike. Given enough time with the class editor, expect to see classes with abilities the likes of which you've seen on games like Rift and League of Legends - I owe you guys awesomeness for helping me out! Also if any of you private land owners has a decent piece of frozen tundra you're trying to sell off and isn't covered in vegas lights and advertisements on the front market page (I.E. easily found on the auction list ), I'll pay up front for anything that'll keep my monthly bill under $40, so let me know what you've got *Edit* Now that I think on it, I wonder if that friend is just walking into other people's lands and soaking up their prim limits for his Skybox... LOL.
-
Okay... sorry for all the questions, but I'm really, really close to a decision. But I have a few other questions... My friend is looking at this stuff and he's saying they're actually skyboxes, and not land that you rent from people. He says he just paid for his skybox and he hasn't paid a dime for it since. So... I caught my eyes on these. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Hell-rezzer-Skybox-32x32-1024/1122995 https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Dark-Lava-Temple/2372635 Now here's the questions I have. If I recall correctly, I think both that snowy mountains backdrop and this lava one both were claimed to be skyboxes. Here's what I don't know... (1) is the limit that determines how much your monthly subscription will be based on land size or house size? (2) Is there any sort of occasion where a premium subscriber could be charged extra for having one or as many as two skyboxes? (3) Is that Lava Temple considered a "home", and if it is, will this all become stupidly expensive if I try to get it AND one of the other two mansions going? I would love to have the frozen tundra for my mansion, and then somewhere inside that mansion, a portal to the "realm" where the lava temple and that lava skybox is. It would be immensely vital to my RP and open up many, many doors. But I really can't push myself spending over $40 a month consistently on video games each month D: Why hasn't anybody here designed real life money trees yet? You guys are artistic geniuses, what's the hold up! if this vision of mine is possible, I'd practically jump right into it. I'm just so new and clueless x.x Do you guys see any hope here?

Sorry, I meant choosing between https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/CASTLE-OF-PAGAN-SACRIFICE-SOFISTICATED-RED-LOBBY-HALL-OF-MEETINGS-JAIL-AND-TEMPLE/1372382 and https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/EVIL-GREEN-MANSION-SOFISTICATED-MANSION/1372452 . I adore them both rather equally... but honestly I'm probably willing to go with the cheaper bet, if one of them does actually reduce overall costs in the end? Do you think either of them might?
-
Is 606 considered a lot of prims? >.> I was considering making this a small sort of DCS2 arena, so I was hoping to decorate a couple combat locales and, of course, the castle interior. Do you think I can manage that? Also, which castle did you mean, the dark green one or the pagan one? *Edit* Also, do prims such as the ones in your outfit count toward your prim limit when you visit?
-
So I found https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Sim-Surround-Ice-and-Snow-Winter-Scenery/1660040 , https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/DL-Fog-Machine-v10-Fogger/131194 , and https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/CASTLE-OF-PAGAN-SACRIFICE-SOFISTICATED-RED-LOBBY-HALL-OF-MEETINGS-JAIL-AND-TEMPLE/1372382 . It's 3am and my math is bad, but... think this all stays within that 4000-ish limit if I abandon my freebie house, making my monthly stay at $25, right? Or would I be prancing into debt management agencies shortly after doing this? x.x If that's too much for the price range, I wonder if using https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/EVIL-GREEN-MANSION-SOFISTICATED-MANSION/1372452 may prove a lot cheaper than the 50x50 pagan thingie.. Jesus, is this what buying a house in RL is like? F this, apartments for life.~
-
I love you all. Anybody ever tell you guys you're marvelous? <Frantically makes shopping To-Do list.>
-
Actually I just thought of something that may make thet a bit EZ mode... I intend on playing a Frost Elf, so all I might need is a tree or two, a snow texture for the ground, and snowing effects (if the game has any). And a friend is telling me about skyboxes being big enough to hold the house I linked... what would it take to get one of those?
-
Lol. Yeah, I'm probably going to be looking at a $25 monthly feel. But honestly I don't mind so much. So here's a question for all you land architects and home owning experts... I definitely want the house I linked above, and I'm thinking something like.. a murky, ominous bog with gnarly, dying tree as the surrounding. Any idea which region or land types I should aim for?
-
Wow, you guys are a huge help, thanks! Do you guys know if it's common to be able to afford such a rent from a typical landlord using the LL you're given routinely just for being a premium subscriber? I'm wondering if it would cost more or less to just use my standard LL income for rent and then manually purachase LL with USD when I want to buy something ingame.
-
So... I think I've got the basic idea. You buy the home and pay all the fees to set it up, you furnish it... but then there's rent, right? I'm new, and I'm thinking, is there an easy way to predict how much it will cost to upkeep your land and home each month? I'm on a $10/month premium subscription and I've got my eyes on https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/CASTLE-OF-PAGAN-SACRIFICE-SOFISTICATED-RED-LOBBY-HALL-OF-MEETINGS-JAIL-AND-TEMPLE/1372382 , but... I have no idea if it'll be a possibility without me buying L$ manually with my credit card each month. Any advice ir tips? =3
-
Well, how I did the majority of it is I'd approach whatever item it was I was trying to buy, and if it didn't have a L$ icon on the mouse pointer or a touch menu, I'd right click and look for a Buy option, and use that. Strangely I've seen numerous variations of the method pop up, sometime it will mention "Quick pay", other time it'll have a more in depth buying process. I do know though that I was prompted through a process of spending money on... well, something. Lol. And whatever it was didn't seem to find its way into my inventory or my transactions summary.
-
Also, my order history only has two things in it... I did most of my buying in-game.
-
Thought of that actually. Sadly the banks don't keep track of Linden buck transations. They can only provide me evidence I paid USD to buy L$, which I certainly did. But the L$ was lost due to Market transations in the game =/ How is this sort of thing handled? Are players reimbured or is there some way to retrive L$ transactions that weren't recorded despite the L$ being spent?
