  1. Thanks for the help I'll look into firestorm, prefer to wait for the alpha but the reviews seem favorable. I haven't installed on top of any other previous version's, this is my first phoenix viewer. Regarding it being possibly my system at fault, is unlikely, I run other graphics/bandwidth sucking games/rpg's that use a lot more of my card than SL does with zero problems so I don't think it could be that. As it's not happening a lot, only very now and then, it could be just the usual SL probs of connection glitches making the viewer crash. I can live with it for now, it's just a pain when it happens.
  2. Hi, I recently posted up about phoenix crashing. I still have the latest version (1.5.2.1102) and it still occasionally just crashes for seemingly no reason. Someone on SL advised that it was unstable and that some setting needs turning down but i don't know what. They said to try an older version of the viewer. Verion 1.5.2.908 is apparently the one to go for. Does anybody know how I can obtain this version or what setting to change on my current one please? My Pc specs (saves people tellin me to upgrade) are:- Amd x4 4Gb ram Geforce GTS 450 1Gb (built in ddr5).
  3. This is a very interesting point of view. I've played mmorpg's where the developers have that kind of approach towards the playerbase and in my experience it's never ultimately led to anything good, just frustration for the players and a declining number of said same. I think a virtual sim such as SL is not so different from a game in this respect. The games that succeed are usually always the ones that have been fully tested by the devs and bug free or as near as dammit before release. Trying new things out on the fly before testing them can and has had dire consequences for the games/sims industry in the past, theres certainly lessons to be learnt there.
  4. I'm sure this is has been asked and addressed many time on here but i'm fairly new and curious. I'm pretty sure inventorys are stored at LL and backed up on there but can an inventory be backed up to HD? I mainly ask this because if i'm spending money on SL it would be nice to know if I can back up things that way. Appreciate any help on this, thanks.
  5. Version is 1.5.2.1102 Haven't tried firestorm yet, waiting for the alpha. Thanks for your help though
  6. I'm fairly new to SL but I play WoW and other Rpg's. From what i've seen the biggest single problem in SL is lag, even on decent systems (and I've spoken to people with very high end specs) the lag is apparent. I realize connection speed counts too but I think SL needs to be inline with the newer technology out there. Make the whole experience smoother and faster and people would flock to it. I still love it even with those problems, but if they weren't there it would be so much better. Faster servers and code that keeps up with todays tech. 512Mb as a max texture memory setting is not much these days My card is twice that and SL can't utilize it all because of it's own restrictions.
  7. Well the whole thing just shuts down, no message or anything it just goes. Like I say, doesn't happen often, has happened a coupla times. It's not overheating, bios will autoshutdown whole PC if temp goes to high (which never happens). Mike:- I only use phoenix viewer, hasn't happened with the default viewer but then I haven't used it so I don't know.
  8. Ok, this doesn't happen very often but sometimes the whole viewer just disappears and logs me out/ When it happens I have to wait about a minute before logging back in. I'm using the latest version of phoenix. My specs:- amd x4, 4GB ram, 1Gb Zotac Geforce card. Anyone else getting this happen?
  9. Thanks for the answers folks, much appreciated.
  10. Hi, I recently joined SL and I am enjoying it a lot. However, when i installed it, it said it didn't recognise my 'Zotac Nvidia GTS 450' 1GB card. My PC is card dependant (no inbuilt gfx on the motherboard) and SL is running fine on it to a degree. My drivers are fully up to date and I have Dx11. The problem is the settings, texture memory setting to be exact, it's only showing 512mb as the max level not 1GB. Is that the max SL allows? or should it be matched to my card? My other specs are as follows:- Amd athlon ii x4 640 (3.oGhz) 4GB ram (will upgrade to 8GB soon) 1 Terra HD Can anyone advise me on how to get the texture/settings to recognise the cards capability? Also some best overall settings related to gfx and web would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance, Renny xo ps I also play WoW and have absolutely no probs with the graphics all set at maximum on there.
