  1. Sculpys on marketplace are usually quite pricy though. And i dont want to use this item to go commercial. Just for fun sakes..
  2. I agree with Rolig's answer, the mainkey is that you will need to be legally approved to use an official logo of an IRL charity. Probably some article or link to backup you're story. Also you need some nice spots to put the charity raisers down on. SL can be a greedy world.
  3. I want to make it look more detailled, but i have no idea how. Im not a great texturer for such, and its also a flying object restrained for 32 prims. The wood is librarytexturing. Has anybody got some advice on making things look less 'simple'? I want to create an end product i can be satisfyed with. *With simple i mean more ehm smoothened? more realistic?
  4. Try making a diagonal prim and roll a ball down. Physics are just not in for SL
  5. I just returned aswell, im completely skint. But i suppose if you put up you're best smile some of those clubowners will be in a good mood of putting you up one of the boards.
  6. I dont want to mingle in your advertisement, but have you tryed those escort renting boards? you can just pay it some lindens and drop your picture/notecard in. Probably the fastest way if you do it on some random places!
  7. This Is probably not very useful to experienced players, but it might be for new players. So your new to SL, eager to earn some lindens? Don't be fooled by big promises and unclear explanations. Keep your heads up for jobs as 'Land sales'. It Is very easy to sell land, and never get commission. So be very sure you are either in a script or a contract. (in a method that's provable to the lindens.) Unlike other online games, being new or inexperienced doesn't make you worth a copper an hour. Save yourself from spending hours selling somebody else his items! If you feel like you are being exploited, take your eyes off SecondLife for a bit. Think about if you're getting payed fair enough for the amount of time your putting in. 2 or 3 linden dollars may look like a golden nugget for you when you first begin.. But its really only 0.001$. The hours you put in as a slave to your boss, you could be out scripting, building, or texturing making more success on long terms. Please, don't be scared for the gap of unknown when you start off. All it requires Is stubbornness. I myself have worked for a numerous of 'landlords' promising me land I never got after making sales. Remember: The internet Is anonymous, you're most likely to be put off! If you get a build, script of texture job, check if you trust the resident his background. If you feel he/she Is being rather vague don't be afraid to ask for an payment in advance. Or even make a small example of what you have in mind for the costumer. If he becomes angered by you asking for a small payment he probably wouldn't had payed you in the first place. Underestimated Is the tool of a con, before you invite a costumer over to show the end-product, ask a couple or friends or random avatars even to rate your product. You don't want to get payed 50L$ for something that could've left you with 5000L$. Last piece of advice: When you think you have completed your skills in a profession, try get acquainted with some steady costumers. People that trust you over the time will return to you if you bring them quality.
  8. You are actually bringing great idea's to the table. Im not sure LL would have ears for it though. Maybe if they indeed made some 'library' avatars that are of any better welthy quality then these raggys. But maybe intentionally they want to split the grass from the weeds?
  9. So i know the basic buildings, and i use the default SL building tools to the max. But somehow when i work on 'bigger' builds i keep getting frictions. Annoying lines, splits, it just never fits well enough. Is there something i am missing here? Quite some friends and builders helped me out and took a look, they say its the textures rubbing up. Also i was wondering how builders made there textures, by themself or by other people?
  10. You get approximately 4 years for proven murder here. If someone is 'liquidated', with a record of being in a criminal circuit they might even just drop the research because they don't mind. I guess its a little to less here, and a bit too much of the good at your country.
  11. Well i was willing to devote my effort anyways, nobody ever harvested from it. Probably because i had a very big problem reaching out for US people, witch was the mainstream of residents at the time.
  12. It's okay, i just wanted to get any missunderstanding out of the sight. I watched this US police thingy on TV last night, im not sure if it was dramatised or not. But you get arrested for punching someone, even jail sentenced if prosecuted?
  13. I would open a ticket, so you can try unbug it in the mainwhile. Might save you some time waiting on tommorow. Depending on your urge to play SecondLife.
  14. Please, dont be so easely burned off. I ment it in the way that having to explain it daily does not apply to you. You're more then welcome to respond to any of my topics anytime. And you are right, our cultures are very different. People here know who your going out with, they know what days you go for shopping etc. Its almost stalky.
  15. I would plea to wait a few hours, and try the other solutions above me. You could open an ticket anyhow, since it takes some hours for them to respond.
  16. You are probably right about that, but anything that goes further then 'virtual world' stamps 'useless' to it. Or atleast in theire minds. Generally i dont think there is an understanding for the value of virtual properties, or the value of it. I told one of them i used to earn nice money with it .. it completely changes the perspective. Maybe its the shallowness of the unknown that makes dislike urge them more then getting known. It is the same reaction that rules allot of discrimination in my area.
  17. If so, maybe this subject does not apply to you. For me it did, and i think WoW-players (being an ex-addict to that game.) experience it too. The Netherlands is a small country, people ask me daily what i do, people come by my home and catch my with SL open. I either buzz them off, unless they seem to have an honest interest. Nothing in our human life brings better satisfaction then bringen the joy you keep to your friends.
  18. I totally agree with you, it's a complete misunderstanding that a forthcoming has no connection with eyecandy. You'll have to bare with Linden Labs though, they added quite some avatars to multiple styles of avatars. In your library aswell as on account creation. Variations for businessmen, roleplayers and clubgangers. I don't think Linden Labs every intended to be a part of the creation, they are just holding the ropes. Without the residents, SecondLife would still be a classic primtown. And you're completely right on the way of speech, unintentionally it can really anger me when somebody that doesn't speak a language i can understand. Especially when one is bugging me over something that might not even be in bad intention.
  19. It is good to keep things seperated, i wouldn't like friends keeping an eye on what i do in my virtual life. Not because what i do is such a weird thing, but because i would feel less free or rather limited in some way. I understand your subtility but sometimes its rude or even more strange to avoid direct questions about it. Just a 'oh a game i really enjoy' usually creates more questions. Any avoiding answer does that for me.
  20. I wouldn't worry too much about it. It only rarely happens items/shapes/skins dissapear permanently. Take some measures like clearing your cache (as Heart mentioned.), but do nothing more. You have a major chance your Avatar will be fixed anytime soon and you have messed up your character by taking off all its items etc. Also try logging in through a different viewer/pc, it may put some values to default/reload your avatar.
  21. Anyone who is familiar with SecondLife wont be gasping when they hear a friend of them is dressing up like a 'Meerkat', playing roulette on his yacht, and raving in underground clubs. I guess it's probably best to avoid or ignore the question 'what is that SecondLife you play?', they generally don't understand. It's like most of the special experiences in our lives, the once you have to see for yourself. Still we try in our humble minds to explain in a sane way we all love to crawl up to our scriptspirited baby's, pets, and robots. The best explanation I found so far would be: " SecondLife is a playground for adults, where you can create instead of think. Along with a million others. " I never got too deep into the conversation, because things like this to the not understanding people are like a wedge. Its a thin line that either defines interest from geekyness. How have you're experiences been on telling or trying to explain your SL-life to IRL-people?
  22. I'm sorry if I have offended you by my -short- reply, I struggle with a language-barrier and I have to read things over a couple of times before I'm sure I understand it. Sometimes I have already mixed it up when I'm done doing so. "I also offer a home location. It's Moderate land. I had a home location group for G land too but not a single person ever asked to join so I just put that parcel up for sale." Sounded to me like you wanted to sell it too me. Anyways I greatly respect, and thank you for your offer. Yet as you don't want to profit off other peoples hard earned belongings, neither do I. I wouldn't settle without paying for it. In all humblety I thank you, but I can work for my Lindens (or atleast try) and I think other people need it more then I do. You are a very generous person though.
  23. Correct me if I'm wrong, I have been out of this world for ages. I thought Linden Labs had some kind of line-up of people volunteering to mentor? I think it was due to the support line? Also there aint that many people willing to take time, sit down and listen to there 'mentor' anymore. Time is money, and they'd rather figure it out by themselves. I myself have been offering tutoring nearly 8 hours a day availability, there was just no interest. Especially if you combine it with time-differences!
  24. I will look into your picks, and see what beauty you have brought onto the lands of SL. Also I appreciate you helping me out, but really i am not looking to buy a parcel. I ment genuine places to hang out for a couple of hours, with fellow residents. I dont want to get caught in the lagg and particles of clubs, neither do i want to be flewn into on busy sandbox area's. Resident friendly public areas
  25. If you'd think SecondLife is about anything except for appearance, in my mind your wrong. You come across allot of residents daily, meaning you want to pick-out only the ones you expect to be 'nice' or 'trustworthy'. You do this by making a first impression, either made by appearance, way of speaking, movement or even your SL birthday. However you are free to look as scary as you want too, some things affect the treatment you undergo. If you are new, and you don't have the lindens to purchase a 9.000L$ worthy skin look for freebies. Often there are loads of well looking freebie skins around, as well for clothes. Satisfying: -Spontaneous -Nice hair (This sounds ridiculous but the original avatar hair is a turn-off.) -A steady pace of movement. Dissatisfying: -Rudeness -Sloppy avatar -Wearing weapons (ABSOLUTE NONO.) -Annoying movement (Flying up and down while in company, making sidesteps all the time, getting out of view. Etc.)
